Chapter 71 - 71. Poisonous Scheme

Hubert uncorked the bottle and carefully applied the suspension to the surface of the tree core.

"The toxin extracted from the pollen of the hangman tree can cause people to hallucinate without realizing it."

"A poisoned person who engages in atavistic meditation or atavistic transformation will inevitably become possessed and transformed into a mad, insane beast!"

"Oh my God! This is horrifying!"

Angela's face was filled with horror.

Covering her mouth and nose, she quickly hid by the window for ventilation.

Hubert glanced at her and tossed her a pill.

"This is the antidote. Take it, and I guarantee you won't be poisoned."

Angela quickly swallowed the pill and said bitterly:

"Teacher, you told me to sell the poisoned tree heart to that Allen, driving him mad and seeking his own death..."

"Isn't that a little too cruel?"

"That kid dared to provoke Olivia he deserves death."

Hubert placed the treated tree heart back into the wooden box and stared coldly at Angela.

"What? Are you scared? You can't bear to do it?"

Angela felt a chill in her stomach as he stared at her.

She forced a coquettish smile and spoke softly, "How dare I disobey my mentor's orders? But then again..."

"After all, he's Pantheon's beloved disciple. Poisoning him would be a huge risk. If they find out, I'd be the one to suffer."

"You can't let me work on something so dangerous in vain, right?"

"If you get it done, I'll give you ten Wood Magic Stones," Hubert said calmly.

Angela's eyes lit up!

"Ten isn't enough, at least twenty!"

Her doll-like face was filled with greed.

"Sure!" Hubert said flatly.

...

At the appointed time.

Alan arrived at the dessert shop.

As soon as he entered, he saw Angela sitting alone at a table by the window.

"Isn'tOlivia here?" Alan sat down across from Angela.

"Junior Sister, I had an emergency today and can't come. I asked you to deliver the goods to you." Angela smiled apologetically. "I hope you don't mind."

"It doesn't matter who comes. Let's take a look at the goods first."

"Uh... okay."

Angela paused for a moment before holding out the wooden box.

Judging from Alan's nonchalant attitude, he didn't seem to care about Olivia as a person and was simply interested in the woad heart.

If that were true...

Isn't Hubert overthinking things and asking for trouble?

What if Alan, who clearly had no intention of attacking Olivia, was misunderstood by Hubert and died as a result of his scheme? Wouldn't that be a great injustice?

Should I warn him to be careful?

As soon as this thought emerged in Angela's mind, she slammed it down!

Whether Alan intended it or not.

Things had come to this point; he had to die.

Angela dared not disobey Hubert 's orders, and even accepted bribes. How could she compromise her own interests for someone with no connections?

What's more, Allen was just a country bumpkin from a humble background.

His talents were mediocre, his bloodline was ordinary, and he had no family background.

Instructor Pan Sen didn't hold much influence in the academy.

What if such a small figure died unjustly?

It wouldn't cause much trouble!

Thinking this way, Angela's mind calmed down.

An innocent smile returned to her face.

Alan opened the wooden box.

Inside, a woad heart lay perfectly still.

It looked larger than the one he'd seen before.

The system's identification confirmed Olivia's claims.

Woad hearts are indeed divided into male and female varieties.

This ambition is also a special ingredient.

Alan was about to pick up the tree heart and examine it carefully.

His hand, reaching for the box, suddenly stopped.

Then it slowly retracted.

...

System prompt: Level 4 toxin detected!

"Identified as 'Hanging Pollen'!"

"Strongly hallucinogenic, inhaler loses their true nature!"

...

Snap!

Alan closed the lid of the box to prevent the Hanging Pollen from escaping.

"Angela, this tree heart was given to me personally by Olivia, right?"

Alan asked calmly.

"Of course!" Angela said innocently. "Do you want to buy it?"

"Of course I will. I've brought the magic stones, but..."

Alan clutched his stomach, embarrassed.

"Sorry, I have to go to the bathroom first. I'll be right back."

"Wait!" Angela grabbed his sleeve and asked warily, "You're not going to stand me up, are you?"

"How could that be?" Alan smiled bitterly. "The tree heart is right here, and the purse is on the table too. You'll keep it for me. Now I feel relieved, right?"

Angela took the purse suspiciously.

She opened it and examined it.

Twenty-five magic stones, not a single one missing.

Alan called the waiter over and ordered a dessert for Angela as an apology. Then, clutching his stomach, he headed straight for the bathroom.

Angela watched him hurried away, feeling a bit annoyed.

But the man could escape, but the purse couldn't.

Besides, he'd even ordered a dessert for her.

Seeing the boy was relatively sensible, she tolerated it.

Angela leisurely ate her dessert, waiting for Allen to return and complete this fateful deal.

Alan ran to the bathroom.

Seeing no one around, she quickly pulled out a copper wire.

Using her "communication technique," she sent a message to her senior sister, Tanya.

Briefly explaining the situation, she asked her what she should do.

Tanya replied almost instantly: "Delay for a moment. I'll be there soon!"

Five minutes later.

Alan walked out of the bathroom.

At the same time, Tanya pushed open the door to the dessert shop.

With a murderous look on her face, she walked straight towards Angela.

Of course, Angela recognized Tanya.

She also knew him as Allen's senior sister.

One look at Tanya's expression and she immediately guessed something was amiss! She jumped up hastily, turned around, and tried to run.

She had barely taken two steps when Tanya grabbed her by the scruff of the neck and pulled her back.

"What are you doing? Stop it!" Angela screamed.

The customers in the restaurant turned to watch, their eyes filled with curiosity.

"What are you yelling about? Be quiet!" Like an eagle catching its chicks, Tanya tossed Angela back onto the sofa across from the dining table.

"You little bitch! Tell me the truth! Why did you poison my junior brother?!"

"I didn't... wuwuwu... You're bullying me!" Angela cried convincingly, tears streaming down her face.

If it had been Allen himself confronting her, the onlookers would have felt more sympathetic towards her, who looked more vulnerable and pitiful.

However, Tanya was also a woman. There was a more charming girl than she.

Angela's sobbing and feigning pity didn't win her much public support.

"Angela, I'm curious about the poison smeared on the heart of the woad tree."

Alan sat beside his senior sister and calmly joined in the interrogation.

"I don't know... but it wasn't me!"

"If it wasn't you, then it must have been Olivia?"

Tanya tilted her head and demanded coldly.

"This..."

Angela hesitated, not directly denying her suspicions. Instead, she changed her tactics and launched a counterattack:

"You were the ones who poisoned me, yet you're slandering me!"

"You two, brother and sister, are colluding to set me up!"

"You're scamming me! You're blackmailing me!"

Angela cried.
