Chapter 29 - 29. Substituting

The brave men of the bandit gang.

Having lived on the edge of a knife for years, they were all very vigilant.

They noticed their leader's face flushed red, his expression pained.

Immediately, they realized something was wrong!

They quickly dumped their wine glasses and drew their swords, their murderous intent radiating!

The mercenary captain, his face gloomy, drew his sword.

He couldn't understand why the situation had taken such a sudden turn, completely deviating from the plan.

It seemed the poison in the wine had gone awry, taking effect prematurely?

At this point, there was no point in saying more.

Unfortunately, "One-Eye" Jason had spit out the poisoned wine. Taking down this ruthless bandit would be no easy task.

In a dark corner.

Alan watched the two gangs engage in a melee, his lips curled slightly.

Just now, he had hidden in the shadows, remotely casting a "spice spell" to make the barrel of wine incredibly spicy!

Spiciness is actually a form of pain.

Jason had never trusted Doberman's group; they had a disagreement earlier.

The spiciness after drinking was unbearable, so he naturally suspected poison.

Doberman's group had indeed poisoned the wine, and they were guilty of a crime.

Sensing something was amiss, he immediately struck first!

This served as the spark that ignited a fierce clash between the two factions.

This brawl, a brawl between two factions, was orchestrated by Alan.

Now, the drama had reached its climax.

Alan was in no rush to intervene personally.

He continued to hide in the shadows, watching the mercenary captain and the orc duke it out.

Both of them were apprentices of violent sorcerers.

His strength wasn't much less than Instructor Carter's.

Fighting alone, Allen was confident he could handle them.

But facing two alone, his chances of victory were slim.

The mercenary captain held his shield with his left hand, blocking the orc's frantic axe swings. He was knocked back repeatedly by the powerful force.

However, his shield-holding arm remained steady.

His strength was only slightly weaker than the orc's.

He remained calm and composed, content to defend himself.

The orc had difficulty penetrating his defenses.

In his right hand, the mercenary captain held a cross sword.

He rarely drew his sword.

Whenever he did, it would be the perfect opportunity to strike back!

Swish!

The longsword pierced the air, like a tearing thread!

There was only the sound of breaking wind.

Two intersecting cold rays flashed in the air!

At the same time, the orc Jason groaned in pain.

Two crisscross wounds suddenly appeared on his chest.

The blood gushed out, staining his chest red.

Alan, watching the battle from the shadows, had a strange glint in his eyes.

The mercenary captain, a hidden talent!

That move just now seemed to be the Level 1 martial art "Cross Slash" that Instructor Carter had mentioned.

It takes at least two points of magic power to strike.

It looked like a single sword strike.

In reality, it was two high-speed, overlapping slashes!

A slight delay in reacting would have resulted in a hit!

The injured orc also unleashed his ultimate skill.

With a furious roar, his eyes bloodshot.

He raised his battle axe with both hands and swung wildly.

Compared to before he was injured, his attack was even more fierce!

Alan could see that Jason had just activated the Orcs' signature skill, "Beastial Burst"!

This Level 1 skill is essentially self-hypnosis.

Once activated, adrenaline surges.

Then, the player falls into a frenzied state of reckless abandon!

During the burst, pain is completely insensible.

Ignoring injury stiffness.

A single thought fills his mind—kill his opponent!

"Beastial Burst" boasts a formidable explosive force.

Its weakness is its limited duration.

After the burst ends, the player becomes weak and exhausted.

The experienced mercenary captain clearly understood the characteristics of "Beastial Burst."

Seeing the orcs charging at him with red eyes, he immediately turned and fled.

He dodged and circled here and there.

He didn't even give them a chance to engage head-on.

"You stinking bug!"

"Coward!"

"Wait till you take my axe!"

No matter how the orcs yelled, the mercenary captain ignored them.

It was all about playing it safe.

This game of hide-and-seek wouldn't last long.

Once the orcs had vented their anger and weakened, it would be the mercenary captain's turn to strike back.

Alan didn't want to see the mercenary captain's evil plan succeed and win so easily.

So he quietly unsheathed his crossbow and aimed at the torch on the wall.

Swish!

The arrow flew.

The torch went out.

The already dim cave was plunged into complete darkness!
