The morning was already bright when Dayo opened his eyes.
For a few seconds, he stayed where he was, listening to the quiet sounds coming from the other side of the room. Luna was moving around, and Jennifer had started making small noises from her cot.
Dayo turned toward the sound.
Luna was standing near the wardrobe, holding the red dress against herself again.
She caught him watching.
"You've been looking at me for a while."
"I was trying to decide if I made the right choice."
Luna looked down at the dress. "You did."
Dayo sat up. "Good."
She walked toward the mirror and held the dress against her body again. "You really liked this when you saw it?"
"I did."
"You didn't just buy it because you wanted to surprise me?"
"I wanted to surprise you too."
Luna smiled at her reflection. "You don't usually do things like this."
"I know."
"Maybe I should be worried."
Dayo laughed softly. "You should enjoy it."
