After using the Time Controller to torment the female Time-Keeper who had tormented him earlier, Loki grew bored. He felt lost, unsure of what to do or where to go.
Moments later, Agent Mobius found him.
Agent Mobius walked in and said, "Loki?"
"Nowhere left to run!" Mobius stated.
"I can't go back, can I?" Loki asked. "Back to my own timeline!"
After taking a deep breath, Loki finally confessed his true feelings. "I... I don't actually like hurting people. I just... I don't. I only do it because I have to, because I have no choice!"
"Tell me why," Agent Mobius said.
Everyone who heard Loki claim he didn't like hurting people looked as if they had seen a ghost, even Thor. He couldn't remember his brother ever showing such a side; he remembered that from a very young age, Loki had already become the God of Mischief.
He dug deeper into his memories, but couldn't find any earlier origins. As far as he could remember, his brother had always been this way: cunning, fond of pranks, and always stirring up trouble, hurting countless people in the process.
Yet he'd never heard Loki say he disliked harming others. In his mind, his brother was simply born with a somewhat evil nature, and when he lost control, he'd even turn on himself.
So how could Loki possibly dislike this?
Everyone felt like they were being pranked.
From the moment they first learned of Loki's potential arrival from Lin Feng's diary, Loki had been portrayed as a major villain—at best, a comedic one. Regardless of his power, he was far beyond mortal capabilities.
Now he was showing such a vulnerable side, claiming he didn't actually want to kill people?
If he didn't want to kill, why did he cause so much chaos during the Battle of New York? How many people died because of him?
Even the later crises, like Tony Stark's creation of Ultron and Quicksilver's death, could ultimately be traced back to Loki's invasion.
This wasn't about shirking responsibility. These individuals had become superheroes precisely because they weren't the type to habitually pass the buck. The reality was simply this: without the invasion during the Battle of New York, Tony Stark would never have conceived the idea of creating an robotic army to protect Earth, and the subsequent chain of events would never have occurred.
Despite not being as formidable as Thanos, Loki had always carried significant weight in everyone's minds.
And now, this villain claimed he actually disliked harming others?
If he disliked harming others yet still slaughtered so many, imagine how many he would have killed if he *did* enjoy it!
He'd probably have to slaughter an entire universe just for kicks!
"It sounds strange, but it kind of makes sense!" Black Widow Natasha said. "No wonder Lin Feng mostly teased Loki when he brought him up. He probably knows too much!"
The group pondered for a moment, and it seemed to be true.
"Because this is part of the illusion, a cruel, meticulously crafted scam designed by the weak to exploit fear!" Loki declared.
He had said this before, but this time it was different. Back then, he had believed the Time Variance Authority was the weak party. Now, he knew he was facing the most powerful force in the entire universe.
He was the weak one, the one who had always been weak. Whether facing his lofty father or his competitive brother, who wasn't stronger than him?
Even Queen Frigga, his mother, was actually stronger than him in a real fight, she just lacked the protective aura.
"To control others for their mad experiments?" Agent Mobius interjected. "You know yourself all too well!"
"A villain!" Loki replied indifferently. Did he not know what he had done?
No, he knew it all too well. But as a weakling, he had to protect himself, and often that meant acting this way. Even becoming a villain was just a disguise, a way to shield himself.
Especially since, not just in Asgard, but even among the Frost Giants, he had been abandoned at birth for being too weak. That's why he had to resort to crueler methods to survive.
"No, I don't see it that way!" Agent Mobius said.
Loki remained unmoved. He simply picked up the Cosmic Cube.
"You've used that one?" Agent Mobius asked with a smile.
"Several times!" Loki replied with a hint of resignation. "Even the Infinity Stones are useless here!"
If he could have escaped, he would have done so long ago.
But here, the Cosmic Cube, like his own magic, had lost all its power.
Meanwhile, the observers outside the screen finally understood. No wonder they dared to let an ordinary clerk use the Infinity Stones as paperweights. Perhaps they even had warehouses full of them. It turned out the Infinity Stones had become completely useless here.
"Heh, the Time Variance Authority is truly formidable!" Loki mused, a hint of genuine awe in his voice. "This is my firsthand experience!"
"Listen, I can't offer you redemption," Agent Mobius said. "But maybe I can offer you something else."
"A Time Criminal has been killing our Time-Keepers," Mobius continued.
At this, Loki rose to his feet and approached the agent. "And you need the God of Mischief to help you stop him?" he asked, a self-mocking smile playing on his lips. He found the question almost laughable.
What could he even help with?
It was absurd.
Here, a god was nothing. His divine powers were completely suppressed, and the Infinity Stones were treated like toys.
This wasn't some terrifying organization where everyone was a god. It was just a foolish organization made up of fools, and yet, it left him utterly powerless.
The most terrifying thing was that they could rule over the timelines of the entire Multiverse.
"Exactly!" Agent Mobius nodded.
"Why me?" Loki asked.
Given his combat prowess, it was hard to consider him a truly formidable entity. Many within the Avengers were stronger than him, let alone across the entire universe. He knew this well; otherwise, he wouldn't be the God of Mischief.
"The Time Criminal we're hunting... it's you!" Agent Mobius declared.
"What? Say that again?" Loki's eyes widened, convinced he'd misheard.
The video ended.
Everyone exchanged bewildered glances, especially Black Widow Natasha, whose expression was complex. "According to the TVA's long-standing procedures, there should be a fixed protocol for handling someone like Loki who deviates from the timeline—resetting or pruning him. Yet they never applied it to him. Instead, Mobius kept profiling him psychologically. Back then, I suspected it was to capture another Loki, but now it's come true."
The group nodded. While their earlier analysis had seemed outlandish, the truth was now laid bare: identical in every detail.
So they were actually going to use one Loki's knowledge of himself to capture another Loki.
Bruce Banner suddenly spoke up, "I never imagined the Time Variance Authority would have so many Infinity Stones. Even if they've lost their power after being removed from their original universes, it's still terrifying. This drawer only contains the stones Casey has in his possession—they probably have a whole warehouse full of them!"
As they spoke, the group felt both awestruck and slightly amused. The very objects Thanos and the Avengers had fought to the death over were treated so casually here.
This could only mean one thing: the Time Variance Authority had an absurdly large number of these things.
"Still, their combat power is pathetic. I feel like I could take down a whole group of them over there!" Hawkeye Barton said.
Though he was considered one of the weaker Avengers, roughly on par with Black Widow Natasha, he felt he was still pretty capable compared to the TVA.
It even gave him the impression: *Is this all the Time Variance Authority is?*
"It's not just their combat prowess that's bizarre; even the employees are strange. That Casey didn't even know what a fish was. He said he'd worked here his whole life, which suggests he's never been outside. That's why he doesn't know what a fish is. He looks utterly clueless!" Bruce Banner mused. "This implies they might have been artificially grown, perhaps through cloning technology, rather than developing naturally. Given the Time Variance Authority's ability to manage the entire timeline, this should be child's play for them."
"With their technology, they can even manipulate time and don't seem to care much for Infinity Stones. So, we can't judge their personnel based on their current capabilities. I don't understand why they haven't enhanced their staff! With their technological prowess, they could easily do so. If they had, I'm sure there wouldn't be any Time Criminals left. After all, in a Time Variance Authority where everyone is as strong as the Hulk or Thor, escaping would be virtually impossible."
At that moment, the questions were piling up.
"Kang the Conqueror... that name doesn't exactly sound friendly," Tony Stark remarked.
