Chapter 62 - The Voice That Could Stop Him

Chapter 62

"The Voice That Could Stop Him"

It was 3:30 a.m.

The night had grown colder, and a chilling breeze swept quietly across the rooftop. Above the school, the sky was still wrapped in darkness, with only the faint silver glow of the moon and scattered stars breaking through the vast blackness.

But beneath that peaceful sky, the world was anything but peaceful.

The Z Virus had spread destruction across the globe. Humanity had fallen into chaos, and people who had once lived beside one another, laughed together, studied together, and called each other friends were now becoming monsters who hunted their own kind.

Humans were no longer simply fighting for survival.

They were becoming the reason other humans could not survive.

And among those infected was borak.

Borak had completely lost control of himself.

The boy who had once been full of emotions, thoughts, memories, and feelings was now nothing more than a bloodthirsty zombie.

His eyes had turned completely white. There was no warmth left in them.

No recognition.

No hesitation.

Nothing.

Those empty white eyes were the most terrifying proof that whatever remained of borak's humanity was now buried beneath the virus.

Borak stood among the countless zombies surrounding the rooftop door.

Together, they pushed against it with all their strength.

The metal door shook violently.

Another powerful impact made the entire frame tremble.

The zombies released terrifying growls as they pressed their bodies against the door, desperately trying to force their way inside.

Their hands clawed against the metal.

Their shoulders slammed into it.

And every impact made the people on the other side fear that the door would not hold much longer.

---

The moment Mr. Simit forcibly pulled Hasnain inside the rooftop, everyone immediately rushed toward the door.

Yarm, Jackson, John, and Miss Selena all pressed their bodies against it, using every bit of their strength to keep it closed.

The metal door should have been strong enough to withstand the zombies.

But the handle was already broken.

That meant there was almost nothing left keeping the door secured.

The pressure from the other side continued to increase.

The door trembled beneath their hands.

Everyone could feel the danger.

If it opened even slightly, the zombies would flood into the rooftop.

And there were far too many of them to stop.

"Push harder!" Miss Selena shouted.

Everyone leaned against the door with even greater force.

Their breathing became heavier.

Their arms trembled.

Their feet slipped slightly against the rooftop floor.

Yet nobody dared move away.

Because everyone knew what would happen if they did.

---

But away from the door, Hasnain and his three friends—Ghani, Saim, and Saad—could barely process what had happened to Borak.

Their friend was gone.Borak had become a zombie. And that reality was too painful for them to accept.

Hasnain's breathing became increasingly heavy,His fists tightened,His eyes burned with anger and grief.

The shock inside him slowly transformed into uncontrollable rage.

He suddenly stepped forward and grabbed Jennis tightly by the collar.

Before Jennis could react, Hasnain threw him onto the rooftop floor.

Jennis hit the ground hard.

Hasnain immediately followed him.His anger had completely taken over.

He began punching Jennis repeatedly.

One punch.

Then another.

And another.

Jennis raised his arms instinctively, trying to protect himself, but Hasnain was no longer listening to reason.

Blood soon began to trickle from Jennis's nose.

Hasnain's expression was filled with pain, fury, and helplessness.

His voice echoed across the rooftop as he shouted:

"My friend Borak is gone because of you!"

His breathing was rough.

His eyes were filled with tears that he refused to let fall.

Then he shouted again:

"You don't have the right to live anymore!"

---

The moment Mr. Simit saw what was happening, he immediately left the door and rushed toward Hasnain.

"Hasnain! Stop!"

But Hasnain did not hear him.

Mr. Simit grabbed him by the arms and tried to pull him away from Jennis.

"Hasnain, control yourself!"

Still, Hasnain resisted.

He struggled desperately, trying to reach Jennis again.

His mind was trapped inside the anger and grief consuming him.

Miss Selena also hurried toward him.

"Hasnain, stop! You'll kill him!"

But her words seemed distant to him.

It was as though he could no longer distinguish anyone's voice from the chaos inside his own mind.

Mr. Simit tightened his grip and pulled with all his strength.

Finally, after several moments of struggle, he managed to separate Hasnain from Jennis.

Hasnain stood there breathing heavily, his fists still clenched.

His entire body was trembling.

Not because he was afraid.

Because he was hurting.

---

As soon as Hasnain was pulled away, Jennis slowly turned onto his side.

He began coughing violently.

Blood stained the area around his nose and mouth.

His face twisted with pain as he struggled to breathe properly.

For several seconds, he simply remained on the ground.

Then he slowly placed one hand against the floor and attempted to stand.

His movements were weak.

His breathing was uneven.

Seeing him struggle, his two friends, Wallium and Jack, immediately came forward.

They each took one of his arms and tried to help him stand.

"Come on."

"We've got you."

But Jennis angrily pulled his arms away.

"Leave me!"

His voice was weak but filled with frustration.

He did not want anyone's help.

He slowly forced himself upright.

His face was bruised, and blood still remained around his nose.

Then his eyes met Hasnain's.

The anger in Hasnain's expression returned.

He immediately stepped toward him.

His fist tightened.

He raised his hand, preparing to strike again.

But before his fist could reach Jennis_Hasnain accidentally struck Jack instead.

Wallium was hit immediately afterward as he tried to intervene.

Both boys stumbled backward.

Hasnain turned toward Jennis again, still prepared to continue.

And then—A voice echoed across the rooftop.

A voice that instantly froze him.

"That's enough."

Everyone became silent.

The voice continued gently:

"We know you're in pain because Borak was a very close friend of yours. But please... control yourself now. Stop this fighting."

Hasnain froze.

Completely.

His raised hand slowly lowered.

His breathing stopped for a moment.

Because that was not just any voice.

It was her voice.

The voice of the girl whose existence was connected to every beat of his heart.

The voice of the girl who was more precious to him than anyone else in the entire world.

The voice of the girl who held a place in his heart that no one else could ever reach.

It was Sana.

---

Hasnain slowly turned around.

For a moment, he could hardly believe what he had heard.

His eyes widened.

His heart began beating faster.

Sana had spoken to him.

For the first time in his life, Sana had spoken directly to Hasnain.

His dark, deep eyes immediately fixed themselves upon her.

There was no anger in them now.

Only shock.

And something much deeper that he could not put into words.

He stared at her for several seconds as though he needed to make sure she was really standing there.

Then, without saying a single word, Hasnain quietly stepped backward.

He walked toward one corner of the rooftop and sat down.

Everyone stared at him in disbelief.

They knew Hasnain.

He was not someone who easily listened to others.

Mr. Simit had told him to stop.

Miss Selena had told him to stop.

Neither of them had been able to calm him.

Yet one sentence from Sana had been enough.

One voice.

One request.

And Hasnain had stopped.

---

Afra quietly leaned toward Sana and whispered into her ear:

"What's happening here?"

Sana gave her an irritated look.

"Nothing."

Then she walked away and sat in another corner.

Afra followed her and quietly sat beside her.

Neither girl said anything more.

The rooftop slowly fell into silence again.

---

Nearly half an hour passed.

During that time, everyone remained completely still.

The zombies outside the rooftop door gradually lost interest.

Since the people inside had stopped making noise, the zombies seemed to assume that there was no longer anyone alive on the rooftop.

One by one, they slowly moved away from the door.

Their growls became quieter.

Their footsteps gradually disappeared down the stairs toward the second floor.

Eventually, silence returned.

A terrifying silence.

But for the survivors, it was the first moment of peace they had experienced in hours.

No one spoke.

No one wanted to risk making a sound.

Everyone simply sat where they were, exhausted, frightened, and emotionally broken, waiting for morning.

Above them, the moon continued to shine faintly through the darkness.

The cold wind passed across the rooftop.

And somewhere far below, the distant growls of zombies could still occasionally be heard.

But for now, they were safe.

At least for the moment.

---

Then Jackson finally had an idea.

They gathered whatever objects they could find scattered across the rooftop.

Empty bottles.

Pieces of steel.

Broken chair's.

Fragments of discarded objects.

And whatever other materials they could use.

Together, they began arranging everything carefully across the rooftop.

Slowly, piece by piece, they created a huge message.

An SOS sign.

It was their only hope.

Because when morning came, there might be helicopters searching for survivors.

And if the pilots saw the enormous SOS sign from above, perhaps they would finally realize that someone was still alive inside the school.

Perhaps they would come down.

Perhaps they would rescue them.

Perhaps they would finally escape this nightmare.

So, beneath the cold night sky, the survivors silently waited for dawn.

The giant SOS sign lay across the rooftop.

A desperate message written not with ink or paint—

but with whatever hope they had left.

And somewhere among them sat Hasnain, staring silently into the darkness, while the memory of one voice continued to echo inside his mind.

Sana's voice.
