Vinny returned to Griffin's apartment, his hands shaking, his chest tight with anxiety.
Griffin was waiting, seated at the kitchen table, eyes sharp and calculating. The shadows from the dim lights traced the angles of his face, dark and intense.
"You were out later than I expected," Griffin said, his voice low, dangerous, but controlled.
Vinny swallowed, struggling to steady his voice. "I had to… gather evidence. West… he was there."
Griffin's dark eyes narrowed. "I sensed it. I felt him near you. Did he know you were watching?"
Vinny shook his head. "No. I don't think so. I just… I just documented everything. Photographs, videos. I need proof, Griffin."
Griffin leaned back, his expression unreadable. His fingers drummed lightly on the table, deliberate, tense. "You've taken a risk, Vinny. But a calculated one. That's… acceptable." His lips curved slightly, a dark glimmer of approval. "You're learning to navigate this game."
Vinny exhaled slowly, relief mingling with fear. "I don't know how much longer I can do this. Both of them… watching me. Obsessed with me. Manipulating me."
Griffin rose slowly, his movements fluid, predatory even. He approached Vinny, standing close enough for the heat of his body to press against him. "That's why I'm here. You don't have to face them alone. Not West. Not anyone."
Vinny shivered, torn between fear and the strange safety Griffin offered. "But what if… what if I make a mistake? What if they—"
Griffin silenced him with a dark, deliberate look. "No one will touch you. Not while I exist. Obsession has a price, Vinny. And I will pay it. I will do anything to protect you. To ensure they cannot reach you."
Vinny felt a mix of awe and dread. Griffin's intensity was protective, yes, but it was also consuming, dangerous. Obsession and love twisted together, dark and suffocating, and yet he couldn't look away.
Meanwhile, Shane and her team worked through the night.
The city was quiet, but the evidence was loud. Every surveillance clip, every timestamp, every digital trace painted a story they had to follow carefully.
"West is moving strategically," Shane said, her voice sharp. "He knows Griffin's patterns. He knows Vinny's habits. We have to anticipate, intervene, and remain invisible."
Finn nodded, scrolling through their latest footage. "It's like a chess match. Griffin's obsession is a weapon, but West's manipulation is a trap. Vinny's at the center, and the board is set."
Evelyn's expression was hard. "We need to make the first move. Carefully. But decisively. If we wait too long, they'll act, and Vinny will be caught in the crossfire."
Liz leaned forward, her voice quiet but firm. "And Vinny… he has to stay calm. He can't act rashly. Not with both of them watching."
Shane's gaze swept the room, eyes sharp and unblinking. "Tonight, everything could change. Griffin will act if he senses a threat. West will act if he senses weakness. Vinny is the pivot. We all have to be ready."
Back in the apartment, Griffin pulled Vinny close, his hands resting possessively on his shoulders.
"Rest tonight," Griffin murmured, his voice low, dark, and comforting. "Tomorrow, we act. West will try to manipulate, but I will be ready. And you…" His fingers traced Vinny's jaw, deliberate, almost consuming. "You are mine to protect. Remember that."
Vinny's chest tightened, fear and fascination warring within him. Griffin's darkness was overwhelming, but it was also safe in a twisted way.
Outside, the city breathed quietly, unaware of the storm about to break.
Because tomorrow, Griffin and West would collide.
And Vinny's life, his freedom, and his heart would hang in the balance.
