"Ugh…"
My head was swarming… Are they… just happening more…?
There… was a small amount of memories I gained. I was living through it as "Yukina." The old one, not me. It was just… a small moment with one of her childhood friends. Having to say it in quotation is getting confusing even to me.
It was a young kid her age. Her mind was racing, and I think she had feelings for him. The entire memory was awkward, but they were having fun. Mainly talking, the previous Yukina was weak so she sat on the ground. Her childhood friend was sitting on a low hanging branch. Talk about trying to impress a girl.
I'm sorry for him. He… doesn't know that Yukina's gone. I'm the one that took over her corpse… And I don't hold the feelings for him that the old Yukina did. If I ever meet him.. Well that's gonna be pretty awkward to say the least.
My heart let out a little jolt, and my hands were hurting from how tight I held them.
Is this truly who I am supposed to be? Why did it just seem like I was… just dropped in this body.
Yes, Shen woke up in a five year old body. But… she gained her memories then and there. Is there someone behind this…?
It feels like I'm missing a lot… These memories are so fragmented, I can't explain everything.
Knock… knock… knock….
A quiet knock knocked my head off; even with my advanced hearing it was hard to hear. After my heart calmed down, I dressed in neater clothes. My hair was still a mess, but..I can't be asked.
I barely cracked the door just enough where I could see. A foxgirl with golden blonde hair that had colors ranging from red and blue at the tips entered my view. She was shorter than me.
There was an odd thing about her eyes— they were completely grey. Well, aside from her pupils.
"Are you Miss Yukina?" This foxgirl asked me— her voice was quiet.
"Um…" I took a deep breath in and opened my door. "Yes… yes I am…"
The foxgirl's eyebrow twitched before pulling a letter from her satchel. "Letter from Miss Shen Silva. Your name is the target."
Silva…? I eyed the pearly white neatly folded paper in her hands. Did Shen and my dad get married…?
Wait, why does she even have my last name?! I know they've been partners for five hundred-
"Ow?" Suddenly I felt something strike my head.
"Miss Shen Silva says no, no she did not get married to your father. She also ordered me to do this with the exact same force."
"Alright, alright geez…" I rubbed the top of my head. How did she even get there? I was at least a head taller. "What's the letter for?"
Couldn't she talk to me through the bite mark?
"For you. Ah, Miss Shen Silva also wanted me to call you an idiot for assuming she was married to your father."
"...How did you impersonate her perfectly?"
"Practice…" The foxgirl replied. Suddenly a switch was flipped, she stood tall before continuing. "Ah, right, I'm Uzuki. Shen has been my teacher for a few years."
There was not much of an introduction. Uzuki only bowed before literally disappearing; I couldn't even react to her disappearance.
For a few seconds I stood there looking at the spot she occupied previously. Was she that fast I couldn't react? It's possible…
I'll think about it later… If she was that fast it'd be scary. Alright… What's this about…?
From Shen… I guess she's fine… The outside of the letter was pristine. No blemishes, not even a name mentioned on the outside. Unless she was only Shen's delivery girl…. It would be difficult to deliver multiple letters. Well, honestly, not really if she's that fast.
Uzuki wore a blue shirt, and pants… On top of her head was a mailman's hat. That aforementioned satchel was strewn across her front and hung on her side.
Ah- whatever… Once I was in- hold on why was I getting mail inside my home?! James Melinda…? Did you let her inside?! UGH!
Another thing to worry about later… letter first, worry later. This time I closed my door harder and sat on my bed again.
The letter from Shen was smoother than any paper back on earth. When I opened it, the whole page was taken up by many paragraphs of small lettering.
She did write this…. Like her, the paper had no scent, not even with the pen strokes she did.
The lettering was smooth, and neat. I expected that… Shen had that even back home.
[Yukina, Mathew, whatever you want to be called. I apologize for leaving… suddenly. That village was somewhere we couldn't stay.
Uzuki, my student, investigated it a while ago. It was not safe. It was an enslavement ring, but it isn't anymore. Setting that aside, I hope Ard is treating you well.
You should be able to relax there… I've seen the documents about your current life. You need a break, even if you don't remember them. And I don't know how long it will be until you remember.
]
… I don't need them. I Don't want them… Please- I had to toss the note away. I do not want those memories.
…
[Just remember, you can contact me through my bite mark. You already know when we are connected.
Setting those aside in this letter. First of all, no, no your dad and I never got married. He gave me his last name so I could get out of trouble. I've kept it for four hundred years.
]
I guess that makes sense…Shen's… a y'know already. When I let my hands down and I looked towards the ceiling, I felt a weird sensation in my chest
Should I believe this…? They've been alive for… five hundred years, there- Nope… nope… I'll just take Shen's words for it.
[Adding to that, it helped me throughout my lifetime as a vampire. Our reputation was worse back then… When I first became a vampire many people tried to kill me. At least twice a day someone tried to stab through my heart or expose me to the sun.
However, the last name he gave me protected me. No one tried to kill me, they had to leave me be. There was no romance between us, I'm merely holding the last name.
Anyways, welcome to this… world, Mathew. We will find more time to connect. For right now, be prepared mentally for what's going to happen to your memory; contact me through the bite mark, I'm available at any time.
Shen, the Cunning Fox. - Ps. Make sure to take baths regularly; as a girl it's amazing.
]
"...I do take baths daily…" I mumbled with half a laugh at the extra. After I was fully finished digesting what she wrote I set it beside me lightly. "Seems like she's doing okay…"
"..."
The ceiling felt bigger when I laid back. My head was not a raging storm like it was ten minutes ago… I didn't feel trapped.
…
When I left my room, the house was empty. Zephy, Steph and Vershun were in their rooms. James, Melinda and Allisa too… Uzuki really did break in…
When I walked through the halls, and down the steps to the front door everything was quiet.
I'll leave a note… I need some fresh air.
