Chapter 8 - Journey Toward Peshawar

Episode:08

It was only 8:00 in the morning when all the vehicles stopped in front of a gigantic building.

The drivers stepped out of their vehicles, and a few men came out from inside the building.

One of them was dressed in neat and clean clothes, making it obvious that he was the owner of the place, while the others had dirt, sweat, and black stains covering their clothes, clearly showing that they were laborers.

Standing at the very back of the Datsun, Kattu, Lulu, and Kiwi stared at the tall two-floor building in complete shock. Their mouths remained wide open in amazement.

Driver Shahab, who was sitting in the front seat beside them, noticed their expressions and asked with a smile,

"Are you three seeing a building like this for the first time? Why are you so shocked?"

Without taking his eyes off the building, Kattu replied in wonder,

"Yes, Uncle… How could humans possibly build something this huge?"

Driver Shahab chuckled and said,

"Kids, this is nothing. Once we reach the city area of Peshawar, your surprise will know no limits. There are even ten-floors buildings there."

Kattu, Lulu, and Kiwi immediately looked at him in disbelief.

"Really? Buildings that huge actually exist?"

"Yes," Shahab replied proudly.

Kiwi then asked curiously,

"And are these buildings called 'buildings'?"

"Exactly," Shahab answered with a grin.

Then he added,

"Alright, now get out of the vehicle and sit in the shade near that wall. It might take us some time to unload the tobacco."

The three children obeyed him and went to sit under the shade.

Meanwhile, all the laborers and drivers became busy unloading the tobacco, while Lulu's father and the building owner went inside to settle the payment. After finishing the calculations, Lulu's father was paid for the tobacco.

A while later, the two men came back outside. By then, only three Datsuns were still loaded with tobacco while the other three had already been emptied.

The owner noticed the three children sitting nearby and walked toward them. As soon as they saw him approaching, all three stood up respectfully and greeted him. He returned their greeting warmly.

Lulu's father, Jahangir, who was standing beside him, began introducing them.

"This is Kattu, my neighbor's son. And this is Kiwi, the nephew of our village school principal. And this one is Lulu, my son."

The owner smiled kindly.

"Mashallah, all three of them seem like very good children."

Hearing that, Jahangir laughed and said,

"Even devils would seek protection from children like these. You haven't seen their mischief yet."

The owner laughed softly.

"So, it seems you three are quite naughty."

At that moment, all the laborers and drivers finally finished unloading the tobacco. Driver Shahab came over and informed Jahangir about it.

After hearing the news, Jahangir called one of his workers and ordered him to bring sugarcane juice for everyone. A little while later, the worker returned carrying eleven large glasses of freshly made sugarcane juice.

The guests and the owner all enjoyed the cold and refreshing drink together.

Soon afterward, everyone got back into their vehicles and continued their journey. After traveling some distance, Jahangir paid all the drivers, and they each went their separate ways—except for Driver Shahab, who had promised the three children that he would show them around Peshawar.

Now the three children sat in the back of Shahab's Datsun while Jahangir occupied the front passenger seat.

Around 11:00 AM, Shahab finally parked outside his friend's house in Peshawar. They all entered the guest room and rested there until evening.

Later, everyone went out for sightseeing together. Some members of the host family joined them as well, including Shahab's friend and his two sons. One of the boys was older than the three children, while the other was around the same age as Kattu, Lulu, and Kiwi. The children quickly became good friends with each other.

After some time, they arrived at a beautiful park filled with colorful flowers. The adults sat comfortably on the grass while the children began playing football with the ball their hosts had brought along.

Kattu, Lulu, and Kiwi were overwhelmed with amazement. They were now extremely happy about their decision to come to Peshawar and couldn't stop looking around in fascination.

The place was vast and breathtakingly beautiful. Everywhere they looked, there were lush green lawns, long flowerbeds filled with vibrant roses of every color—yellow, red, pink, white, and many more. Between the gardens stood elegant fountains spraying crystal-clear water into the air.

The weather was cool, and the fragrance of roses filled the atmosphere with a soothing freshness.

Everyone felt joyful there.

The host boy then took the three children toward a large tree. On the other side of the tree flowed a small canal filled with colorful fish swimming gracefully through the water. There were countless fish of different colors, including white, orange, blue, and many others.

The tree itself was enormous—its trunk was so wide that ten people could stand side by side around it. Hanging from one of its giant branches was a swing made from wooden planks.

The four children took turns enjoying the swing with excitement and laughter.

Afterward, the host boy went to his father, took some money from him, and bought fish food from a small shop located at one corner of the park. He returned to his friends, and together they fed the fish. Within moments, dozens of fish gathered in one spot to eat the food they had thrown into the water.

Later, Driver Shahab bought kulfi for everyone. The delicious frozen dessert tasted heavenly.

After offering the Maghrib prayer, they left the park and continued their journey.

A short while later, the Datsun stopped in front of another massive building—this one six floors tall.

Kattu, Lulu, and Kiwi were even more stunned now. The three children stood in the middle of the area, staring upward in complete awe.

There were three large buildings surrounding a square-shaped parking area—one in front, one on the right, and one on the left.

Near the building on the right side was a small basement area where several people were standing and cooking food.

The hosts took everyone downstairs into the basement, which was about the size of a single room. Soon, delicious shawarma was served to everyone, and they all enjoyed the flavorful meal.

After finishing, they came back outside.

Right in front of them stood a street vendor with a display stand completely covered in sunglasses. At Lulu's request, Jahangir bought black sunglasses for all four children. Wearing them immediately, the children proudly walked into the brightly lit building ahead of them.

The building was full of lights and ceiling fans, and inside were countless shops selling clothes, shoes, makeup, and many other items.

They visited every single shop, exploring everything with excitement, though they didn't buy anything.

Before leaving, they once again enjoyed delicious kulfi ice cream.

Finally, they climbed back into Driver Shahab's Datsun and returned to his friend's house.

After offering the Isha prayer, everyone went to sleep peacefully.
