Raye had her fingers pressed on her temples. She was silent for a while.
Then she snapped out of it and faced me as if we were the only ones in the room.
"Are you happy with this? Are you happy being mated with the Alpha?" she asked with a very serious face. I fought hard not to laugh at how panicky she sounded. "You'd stay with us now that your mate is in Undercity, right? You wouldn't think of leaving in the future?"
My eyes softened. They all knew what I'd always wanted to do because I was vocal about my intent. They knew that I wanted to leave Undercity as soon as my bargain with Rion was fulfilled.
But Raye had never once talked me into staying for good even when I was sure she wanted to. She wanted me to willingly stay. She wanted me to do what I thought was best for me without any influence from other people. I admired her for that.
"I won't leave," I told her. Then I smiled. "Not anytime soon at least."
"Don't tease me! Say you will live with us forever."
