Then the Detective stepped forward.
DETECTIVE:"Hold up, ladies. Stop fighting."
He looked at the Guild Master.
"Fat one she's under my protection. Your hunger for money and power doesn't extend to her."
The Guild Master looked angry.
GUILD MASTER:"How dare you? I should take you in with her."
DETECTIVE:"Careful. Your hunger to take in anyone who hides their face she's under my protection. She's busy with top-secret things we at the DOS are actively trying to catch."
The Guild Master got even more upset.
GUILD MASTER:"BRING ME A BURGER. MAKE IT 10. WHO'S GOING TO PAY FOR THIS DAMAGE?"
AURORA:"Your fat ass needs more food. You can already fit 10 airships in your belly."
GUILD MASTER:"Don't push it."
DETECTIVE:"Settle it down."
AURORA:"And I don't work for you."
DETECTIVE:"Well, you do. You need credits. And I pay well. Need upgrades? Place to stay? And there's the"
He whispered.
"the crime family you're tracking. That bounty. And a lead there. And taking down this fat guy you're in its potential corruption."
AURORA:"Fine. It's a deal."
BACK TO PRESENT DAY — MID-EATING
Kiro was eating chicken. Mid-bite.
KIRO:"So that's where the corruption comes in. But you didn't explain the government involvement so far."
AURORA:"That's a long story. Explained in short I got staff, upgraded my EMP device a bit more impact. Then got that info on the Guild Master. But somehow stumbled on info on the government's newest weapon. Not just paying the Guild Master off. But creating a creature to take the whole country. Called the
Annihilator
."
She paused.
"I met that thing myself. Just skip the story because it's long. We were on the airship when this happened. Wanted to tell the rebels but the rebels are criminals. So made it leak. Because this thing was going to be set loose. Its mission destroy a city. Make an example of them. So they join the government."
3 YEARS AGO — ON AIRSHIP
Planning was happening.
The Detective spoke of the plan.
DETECTIVE:"Okay. We made a device to deactivate his so we don't have to fight that thing. Got it. Aurora will go in and out. Work on that thing's computer."
Aurora got up, preparing to jump.
AURORA:"Get in and get out. Simple enough."
A big guy sat there, relaxed, puffing fumes from his mouth.
BIG GUY:"I'll be taking out guards. Distraction."
DETECTIVE:"Number 98 and 99 you're up next after her."
Aurora jumped to the ground, braced with the impact of the EMP device.
Then put on the invisibility cloak. Walked past everyone.
Then BANG. A noise in the distance. Most guards ran that direction.
Meanwhile, at Government HQ.
The brass on an island surrounded by water. Land next to it. Two bridges. Long and short.
BLUE-COATED WOMAN:"We've been tracking her the whole time. It's time to act. We know she'll be attacking that Special Forces base."
GREEN-COATED MAN: He threw a ball up and down. "Why does it have to be me? Can't it be someone else?"
BLACK-COATED MAN:"All evil-doers must go. No matter what. Good or bad. We must march now. If you two won't I will."
He got up.
WHITE-COATED MAN:"Now, now, brothers and sisters. We must be patient. Be like Loki. Even if he's a trickster and lazy he's right for now. Blue and I will go. Only I watch from the sidelines."
Loki Knight tossed the ball up again. Spun it. Made it float mid-air.
Crushed it without touch. Turned to green shards.
LOKI KNIGHT:"So I get to take a nap, okay? I'll be sleeping. Wake me when the fighting starts."
BLUE KNIGHT:"LAZY! YOU SHOULD GET TO WORK! STOP BEING LAZY AND USE YOUR ILLUSIONS TO PLAY WITH BALLS!"
Loki yawned.
LOKI KNIGHT:"Sure, Ice Queen."
BACK TO AURORA
She entered a hallway. Black glass window.
Saw a wolf but a man. Arms. Legs. Wolf.
Not fed. Skinny. In chains. A lot of them.
Then got set free.
Sheep dropped in.
skinny man ran for it. So fast the human eye couldn't see.
And pinned it down. Started eating.
Then got up. Mouth covered in blood. Licked his lips.
He started gaining weight. A bit. Still ribs showing.
Then claws came out. Got her smell.
Aurora somehow instinct knew that thing was going to hunt her.
She ran.
Then that thing went up against the glass and struck. Sent out sound.
Too bad made of stainless steel.
Then a few more quick strikes. His claws bled. Then broke it. Alarms went off.
Then he gave chase. Jumped walls. Wall-running like a wild animal.
Aurora called in.
AURORA:"Need back-up. There's a wild thing don't know what he is. Need backup. Looks strong."
98:"I'm nearby. Base on the locator. I'll be heading your way now. I'll be there ASAP."
Then the thing saw a few men in black. Sliced straight past them like butter.
Then gave chase. Then jumped into a vent. Vanished.
She looked back. Nobody.
But she heard him.
She kept running.
Then popped out of a vent.
Gave him one EMP blast. Sent him flying back.
He screamed in pain.
ALPHA WOLF:"HOW COULD YOU HURT ME? HURT ME?"
His eyes went red. Then jumped up again. Fast recovery.
She charged a punch. Hit him straight in the chest.
CRACK.
Sent back.
"AHHHHHH!"
Then he stopped. His chest caved in.
AURORA:"I didn't even mean to hit him that hard. But okay worked."
She went away going to that center with the PC.
Then heard a roar.
He was bigger. Still ribs. No fat. Still ribs. But bigger.
Then Aurora went into the computer room. Looked around. A lot of computers.
Looked for one that was unique that showed it was for the boss.
There computer in front. All PCs. But no not that one.
Then she looked at the red computer. Middle of a row of computers.
She went to it.
AURORA over coms:"It's not this one, but"
Clicked a few buttons.
Then a wall opened.
Hidden entrance.
She went in. Huge computer. Multiple virtual screens.
She clicked a few buttons. Put in the virus.
Outside BANG BANG. Bullets. Walls breaking.
That creature got up. Bigger.
Then eyes got red. Stood straight.
98:"What now? First you hit too hard did you get hit too hard in noggin and now you stand fully still. Red eyes."
Aurora reported in.
AURORA over coms:"Hi. I got the chip. It's fully loaded. But nothing's happening."
Over comms
98:"Well, something did. This creature he's frozen. Red eyes. Just standing there."
The creature's head turned.
"What's up? You in there, my prey?"
Just then his hand moved. So fast.
Knocked him through the wall.
