Chapter 451 - [LOM] 451: George III and the Guillotine

"Is that not allowed?" Lil' Amon asked, smiling at Helyn's father.

"The royal family won't permit this. You…" Helyn's father began, but Lil' Amon cut him off.

"The royal family won't exist much longer," Lil' Amon said earnestly.

"What?" Helyn's father exclaimed, his face a mix of shock and disbelief.

"Explaining would take too long, so I won't bother just for you. You'll learn everything during the reeducation classes," Lil' Amon said with a smile, turning to a waiting warrior. "Take them to the holding area."

The warrior was from City of Silver, assigned to assist Lil' Amon in quelling any unrest in Backlund. Standing over two meters tall, he loomed like a mountain, his expression blank as he addressed Helyn's family. "Please come with me. I'd prefer not to use force, but I won't hesitate if needed."

Helyn's father eyed the City of Silver warrior warily, recalling the superhuman strength displayed earlier. After a few seconds of silence, he asked, "Will you kill us?"

He wasn't sure what was happening but suspected a rebellion. Rebellions and uprisings weren't unheard of in Loen's history, though most were crushed. This one, however, seemed extraordinary.

"We're not bloodthirsty. If you haven't committed crimes worthy of death, you won't die," Lil' Amon replied, smiling, before ignoring Helyn's family and pulling out a list to check the next target.

Another City of Silver warrior began sealing off the scene. The family's assets would be inventoried later, and any evidence of crimes would be collected by designated personnel.

…

While Backlund faced upheaval, Medici had rallied his army in the border cities.

Standing on a high platform, his sharp red eyes surveyed the neatly uniformed rebels below. Just months ago, these young men and women were ordinary citizens. After rigorous training, they might not be elite fighters, but their discipline was impeccable.

The square was packed, yet no one spoke or made a move.

"Well done!" Medici's lips curved into a reckless grin. He raised a flag etched with a star and moon... a design by Alaric, symbolizing freedom and equality... and spoke, his voice clear in every ear despite its low volume:

"Now, let us change the world, bringing justice and fairness to every corner."

"You may die, but every sacrifice will be etched into history's monument. You won't die in vain... you'll forge a new, brighter world for those who come after."

"Tell me, are you afraid?"

"Not afraid!"

The crowd roared in unison, their voices resolute, brimming with unyielding courage.

They knew death was possible but feared only a meaningless end, like straw trampled underfoot.

On December 31, 1349, sparks ignited in several border cities, spreading like wildfire across Loen. In the blink of an eye, half the kingdom fell to the rebels.

This was no surprise. Backed by multiple churches, armed with Abraham's Door pathway Sealed Artifacts, and led by Medici, a true War Angel, Loen had little hope of resistance.

In truth, with their forces, toppling the Augustus family and seizing the throne outright would've been easy... but the goal was thorough reform, not just a change of rulers.

While some Loen military commanders in outlying regions held out, awaiting aid from Backlund, a world-shaking message arrived:

Backlund has fallen. King George III is captured and will soon face trial, likely by public execution.

Backlund's fall shattered the resolve of those still resisting. As nobles and tycoons panicked and commoners grappled with confusion, word spread that gods backed the rebels.

The Lord of Chaos, The Ancient Sun God, and The Fool became household names.

The three major churches leveraged their influence in faith, swaying many wavering believers to join the rebels.

Under these conditions, the rebels' conquest of the remaining half of Loen was inevitable.

In just a month, Loen's name was transformed.

After his trial, George III faced his execution day.

"Extra! Extra! George III to face the guillotine! The Augustus reign ends!"

Newsboys' cries echoed through the streets. Despite Loen's upheaval, Alaric's deliberate efforts preserved order, preventing collapse.

Most people were either attending reeducation classes, undergoing vocational training for a trade, or simply unaware of the full scope of events, knowing only that the king was to be executed. Overall, order held.

Newspapers, at Alaric's direction, worked overtime to produce daily reports, seizing control of public opinion.

"The real trouble starts now," Alaric said, closing a window and shaking his head at the workload ahead.

Toppling a king was simple, especially with sufficient force, but building a new order afterward was far more complex.

Once Loen stabilized, reforms in other nations would follow... delayed only by limited manpower. The coming years promised to be intensely busy.

"Good thing I don't have to handle it!" Alaric chuckled. He'd done his part; the rest was for specialists.

"But it might not wait for Loen to stabilize…" Thinking of Intis and Feysac's reactions to the revolution, Alaric narrowed his eyes, unperturbed.

Intis, backed by the Eternal Blazing Sun and the God of Steam, would face betrayal from both churches if it waged war, stirring no significant trouble.

Feysac was trickier, dominated by the God of Combat. But even so, it was just one god. With prior agreements with the Evernight Goddess, if the God of Combat acted, Alaric wouldn't mind helping her eliminate him preemptively.

"In short, it's not a big problem."

Smiling, Alaric headed to the second-floor study, ready to prepare his Sequence 3 Memory of Time potion.

Having digested his Disciple of Delight potion and completed the Sequence 3 ritual during the revolution's start, with auxiliary materials long prepared, it was time to ascend.

"After all, Klein's already a Bizarro Sorcerer. I can't let him outpace me!" Alaric chuckled, beginning to mix the potion.
