I looked at the elder as I tried to school my features so that they wouldn't reflect exactly what I was thinking.
'This piece of…' I stopped my thought before it went further.
"Only under supervision of course," he assured as if reading the reactions I was trying hard to hide.
"The process would be carefully monitored. Elder Harun himself could observe if you wish."
He was now like a shady salesman and was only missing the rubbing of his hands to make him look like a fly about to land on someone.
Something in his phrasing 'could' and not 'would'. Meaning Harun's presence wasn't needed especially by him but if it would make me feel better...
I met his gaze. "And what would you gain from this experiment, Elder?"
He chuckled softly and moved his eyes away from mine to pretend to take in our surroundings.
"Progress, of course. The sect's strength grows when more of its members can wield the elements. You would be aiding that growth."
