Alaric stared at it silently before eventually uncovering the plates. His gaze shifted slowly toward the second serving.
Empty.
Completely empty.
Which meant… this time she had actually eaten without him. That realization should not have bothered him as much as it did. Instead, a strange heaviness settled in his chest unexpectedly because somehow… her eating alone tonight felt more distant than any argument they had earlier.
Alaric leaned both hands against the kitchen counter while staring blankly toward the untouched glass windows ahead.
