She paused, looking up at him to make sure he was paying attention. Kaien made a conscious effort to look completely invested; he knew from painful past experience that if he seemed even slightly distracted, Hinata would throw a tantrum and force him to listen to the entire explanation from the very beginning again.
"At first, I didn't know how to do it," Hinata continued, gesturing wildly with her hands. "But then I got an inspiration when I was playing around with the tap water at home! You know how when the water is flowing thin, if you press your thumb real hard over the spout, the water suddenly comes squirting out super fast and hits you right in the face? It hurt my eyes and they turned red for a day, you know! But anyway, back to our secret."

Kaien's eyes widened slightly as the logic started to make sense. "The pressure on the remaining pathways increases," he muttered, finishing her thought. "Forcing a massive surge of chakra to blast through those eight special tenketsu nodes."
It was the exact foundational principle behind the Eight Inner Gates... a legendary body-enhancement technique that usually required years of grueling and excruciating physical conditioning to unlock. And Hinata had stumbled onto its mechanics by playing with a water hose.
Kaien narrowed his eyes, watching intently as Hinata struck her own body with precise Gentle Fist pokes. Using her Byakugan for precision, she jabbed her right shoulder blade, her left cheek, and her left under earlobe.
Thump.
A dark purple aura burst from Hinata, whipping her dark hair into the air. The surrounding grass flattened under a sudden spike of the pressure.
"In this form," Hinata said, her voice echoing with a slight distortion from the aura surrounding her, "I get immense strength, speed, and crazy fast reflexes!"
Kaien stood frozen, as shock took over him. "She really is a genius... to break down the logic of the Eight Gates and force her body to replicate it through precise chakra manipulation is not easy she could have died if she was not careful?"
"Hinata, stop," Kaien warned, taking a cautious step forward. "Leaking chakra continuously like that is going to completely drain your stamina in seconds."
Hinata didn't bother to listen as she thinks she know what she was doing. Eager to flex her new power to Kaien, she blurred out of sight. A split-second later, a sharp crack echoed through the training ground.
She jumped to deliver a flying kick to the trunk of a massive tree. The wood splintered and broke under the force of her blow. Hinata flipped backward effortlessly, landing cleanly on her feet just as the giant tree came crashing down.
"I realized that the first time I tried it on my own and all my chakra and fell unconscious from chakra drain!" Hinata said breathless but beaming with pride. "But I'm not done yet!"
She struck the same three nodes on her body in reverse order her left under earlobe, her left cheek and then her right shoulder blade. Instantly, the dark purple aura slowly receded. Her chakra flow smoothed out, returning to its natural rhythm and relieving the extreme pressure on the first special tenketsu node or rather First gate.
Kaien felt another disbelief as she effortlessly returned back to normal.
"See? What do you think?" Hinata boasted, panting slightly as she wiped a bead of sweat from her forehead. "This way, I don't leak chakra endlessly and waste all my stamina! And depending on the order I shut off my normal nodes, I can control exactly how much chakra passes through the special node!"
Kaien stared at her, completely lost for words. The sheer genius required to invent a throttle mechanism for the Eight Gates on the fly was staggering.
"Hinata..." Kaien started, letting his voice trail off as he searched for the right words to praise her.
Unfortunately, the long dramatic pause worked against him. Hinata's confident smile slowly melted away. Her heart began to race in her chest as doubt took over her mind. "Is... is it not good enough? Is he disappointed?"
"Don't answer!" Hinata squeaked. "I know it's not good enough! I already have an idea for my next invention, so just be prepared to have your mind blown next time, you idiot!"
Before Kaien could open his mouth to correct her, she spun on her heel and sprinted toward the village at top speed.
"I'll prove that I can be friends with Kumo, just like Aunt Kushina!" She thought to herself.
Kaien reached out a hand, his eye twitching helplessly as he watched her vanish into the treeline. He had literally just been about to tell her she was a prodigy... but her own insecurity had turned his silent awe into an rejection.
Shaking his head with a tired laugh, Kaien sighed. "I should have finished my sentence. But let's see what invention she will come around to show."
Kaien had watched Hinata suppress which nodes, driven by curiosity and a desire to gauge his own growing strength, he decided to attempt the technique on himself.
He raised his hand and struck the three targeted nodes in sequence: his right shoulder blade, his left cheek, and the sensitive area just beneath his left earlobe. But unlike Hinata, this was Kaien's very first attempt. Lacking her refined control, he slammed into those three standard nodes with unchecked force.
Instead of gently suppressing his chakra flow, the impact shattered the delicate balance, completely blocking his three normal chakra nodes. The sudden blockage triggered a catastrophic surge, flooding his First Gate with uncontrolled chakra. A dense pitch-black aura erupted from his body, radiating violent pressure into the surroundings.
Hinata's mastery allowed her to govern the First Gate with poise; Kaien had simply gorged it. The resulting boost in sheer physical power was staggering, but it came with a devastating tradeoff: his stamina began to drain at an alarming rate.
