Aki Kikuchihara drifted to a stop near the construction site, her face showing a trace of apprehension as she stared at the massive Arzuros.
In fact, ever since they had recovered the remnants of the Great Jaggi's body from last time and analyzed them, the authorities had arrived at some… unexpected conclusions.
Conclusions that even Meteora agreed with, to an extent.
Namely—were these massive and biologically rich monsters truly created beings that had manifested from a story?
While it made sense for newly emerged characters to appear in the real world due to a sudden surge of "Acceptance Force," the Great Jaggi…
Its corpse hadn't vanished into fragmented data the way created beings normally did when they died.
Part of its body had even been roasted and eaten by that "Hunter." What remained of its tissues was still lying in the government lab right now.
"That's one hell of a brute bear," Yuuya Mirokuji chuckled from the car roof. "Guess in the Creators' world, you really can run into anything."
"But what about the other guy? Whose side are we on?" Yuuya shot a glance at Aki Kikuchihara.
"Help the Hunter," Aki said as she and Selesia got out of the car. "If what he left behind last time was real, then this bear is another Frenzy Virus host. If we leave it alone, the virus could spread again."
"Gotcha," Yuuya grinned, baring his teeth. "I'm heading in!"
Kairo Retsu rolled to evade the Arzuros' charge—and then spotted Yuuya dashing in.
That familiar movement style made him shout:
"Holy crap! You're that… Stand user!"
"Huh? Oh right… you're thinking of that old guy Joseph's manga."
Yuuya, still at quite a distance, swung his wooden sword, sending a shockwave flying.
"Hope you don't mind me stealing your prey!"
On the other side, Selesia flew toward the magical girls as Yuuya charged into battle.
Seeing her approach, the girls immediately panicked, unsure of how to react.
In the end, it was the transformed muscle-bound Asuka who looked left, then right, grit her teeth, and stepped forward to shield the group.
"Y-you… what do you want?!"
"Uh… um… well…"
Selesia's prepared speech was completely blown away by the visual impact of the pink-dressed muscle girl's massive chest.
"I mean—it's dangerous here. You should all come with me to somewhere safe."
She eventually managed to get the words out.
The muscle-bound magical girl was definitely a Created Being… at least, no one in reality would dress like that.
But the other three—Madoka, Hibiki, and Sakura—just looked like ordinary girls.
Selesia couldn't tell if they were characters from any known works.
Meanwhile, back at the battle with the Arzuros, Kairo didn't reject Yuuya's help, but he did offer a warning during the fight.
"Don't stay too close during combat! It's infected with the Frenzy Virus—you might get exposed!" Kairo shouted while blocking the Arzuros' blow with his Great Sword.
"Also! Your body isn't strong enough! Stick to ranged harassment!"
Yuuya originally wanted to argue that point—after all, in his own story, he was the protagonist's rival, and hardly weak.
But then…
He saw Kairo, after taking a full-on charge from the Arzuros and being smashed into another bulldozer, casually get back up like nothing happened and continue fighting.
After a pause, Yuuya silently admitted that, yeah… maybe his physical stats weren't quite on par.
At the very least, he would've ended up with a few broken bones after that hit.
"Sorry… but I can't let you take them!"
Back on the other side, the muscular Asuka still stood in Selesia's way.
"We-we-we have somewhere we need to go!"
"…Could it be…"
Selesia looked at the girls before her, stunned.
"You're all… from a story too?"
She couldn't believe it.
They'd been monitoring the magnetic fluctuations that accompanied the appearance of Created Beings, but these girls—plus the ones captured on earlier footage—none of them had triggered any traceable disturbances.
Could it be that the world's "Acceptance Force" was approaching its critical limit? At this rate, maybe the Military Uniform Princess's dream of triggering the Grand Collapse really could come true.
Selesia wanted to say more to the girls, but before she could, the battle between Kairo, Yuuya, and the Frenzied Arzuros had already reached its conclusion.
As Yuuya's shockwave forced the Arzuros to flinch and close its eyes, Kairo followed up with a fully charged True Charged Slash, cleaving deep into the monster's neck.
The hardened carapace was split open. Even the neck bone was nearly severed.
Despite its immense vitality, the monster's strength slowly ebbed away, until finally—it collapsed with a heavy thud.
Only then did Yuuya have the chance to observe the Arzuros closely.
Its entire body was covered in wounds from large weapons.
Numerous penetrations—likely from arrows or bullets (Bow).
Cracks on the head's armor (Hammer)—possibly from Kairo's earlier strikes.
But… why were there so many fresh cuts on its feet? (Dual Blades)
Was someone just deliberately slicing its toes?
What drew Yuuya's attention most, though, was the Arzuros' blood.
It was entirely blackish-purple—a clearly unnatural hue.
And what Yuuya really didn't expect was…
Kairo Retsu didn't say a single word to him after the hunt.
He just ran straight over to the Arzuros' head, pulled out a carving knife, and started prying at its teeth and armor—disassembling the corpse on the spot.
"Oi, old man." Yuuya crossed his arms. "Aren't you gonna say something to your teammate who just fought beside you?"
"The world is vast, but loot is vaster," Kairo replied without even looking up.
"Once the main force arrives, I won't get another shot at this. I need to harvest as much as I can while I still can…"
