Chapter 517 - Chapter 517: Why Am I an Iwagakure Spy?

At the Land of Lightning border, Uchiha Obito saw Fox clash with the Raikage, and joy flashed through his eyes.

He activated Kamui and vanished.

Uchiha Obito appeared inside Konoha Village.

At one of Konoha's training grounds, Naito was training taijutsu in silence, his face dark.

Uchiha Obito appeared before Naito and said, "How much of the scroll have you read? Do you believe now that you're an Iwagakure spy?"

Naito swallowed with difficulty. He took a scroll from his ninja pouch and stared at it with dazed eyes.

This scroll was a file.

His mother's file.

There was a photo of his mother Kyoi as a child with her family of four. In the photo, his grandfather and grandmother both wore Iwagakure forehead protectors.

His mother and aunt were smiling so happily in that photo.

After that, his mother entered Iwagakure's Ninja Academy. Because of her excellent grades, she was withdrawn from the academy and arranged by the village to become an orphan from the Land of Grass, then sent into Konoha Village.

His mother worked in various shops in Konoha, and the scroll recorded how she had continuously passed intelligence to Iwagakure.

Natio glanced toward the Hokage Rock.

The face of the Fourth Hokage, Tsunade, had only just been finished.

He had once believed he was a Konoha ninja.

But never in his wildest dreams had he imagined that he was actually a Stone ninja—

a spy planted in Konoha by Iwagakure.

The massive confusion of identity filled Naito with pain.

Naito's eyes suddenly turned scarlet, and two tomoe slowly spun within them.

After learning that his mother's true identity was an Iwagakure spy, Naito awakened the Sharingan.

Yet he himself was completely unaware.

Uchiha Obito, standing across from him, was extremely satisfied.

The Sharingan had awakened directly as two tomoe.

His talent was truly high.

As expected of Indra's reincarnation.

Uchiha Obito said, "Naito, you and your mother are spies upon whom the Third Tsuchikage, Ōnoki, placed great hopes.

Now it's time to return and question your mother. After Iwagakure suffered such a devastating blow, is she still loyal to her village?"

Naito handed the scroll back to Uchiha Obito and hurriedly ran toward home.

After entering Tsurugetsu Tavern, Naito dodged the hand of Yuka, one of the staff.

Yuka was a little puzzled. She had always loved ruffling Naito's hair before, and he had never dodged her.

After rushing into the rear courtyard, Naito saw his mother inspecting a new batch of sake.

"Naito, you're back? Why did you return after training for such a short time today?"

After asking, Kyoi realized Naito had not answered. Only then did she turn away from the sake jars and look at him.

Naito stared at his mother and said, "Mother, we're both Iwagakure spies, aren't we?"

Kyoi froze, then immediately asked, "Who? Who told you that?"

Her identity as an Iwagakure spy was her greatest secret. In all of Konoha Village, only her husband Miqū knew the truth.

She had long since stopped wanting to be an Iwagakure spy.

She only wanted to live peacefully in Konoha Village, watch Naito grow up, and wait for Miqū to complete those endless missions that always took him away from the village.

"Mother, you asked me who said it instead of denying it. That means it's true. Mother, are we both Iwagakure spies?"

Only then did Kyoi realize that after so many years away from being a ninja, even her basic logic in conversation had grown rusty.

Kyoi said, "Naito, Iwagakure has already surrendered to Konoha. I stopped being an Iwagakure spy a long time ago.

And you are not an Iwagakure spy. You are the son of Miqū, a Konoha chūnin. You are an ordinary Konoha ninja.

The shinobi world is changing every day. I'm sure your teachers have explained that in class. There's no longer any need to obsess over Iwagakure or Konoha.

Remember this: you are the son of Miqū, a Konoha chūnin."

Naito thought of his father.

His father was an unremarkable chūnin, always taking the highest-paying missions outside the village.

His father rarely taught him ninjutsu, and his own strength wasn't impressive either. He was merely a chūnin.

Naito suddenly took out a kunai and threw it violently at a sake jar.

Crash!

The jar shattered with an ear-piercing sound, startling Kyoi.

"Mother, come with me! Let's go to Iwagakure! If we stay here, Konoha will discover us sooner or later. Konoha killed more than twenty thousand Stone ninja. We'll definitely be killed too!"

Kyoi quickly said, "Naito, don't panic. We've hidden well in Konoha all this time. We weren't discovered before, and we won't be discovered in the future."

Kyoi stepped forward, wanting to embrace her agitated son.

But Naito pushed her.

Kyoi staggered backward and accidentally stepped on a shard from the sake jar.

The surface of the jar was glazed and extremely smooth. With alcohol covering the ground as well, Kyoi slipped and fell backward.

Naito tried to grab his mother's hand, but failed.

His mother fell backward.

She fell onto…

Naito's eyes widened in terror.

After falling, his mother's head struck the sake jar.

Just now, to show his resolve to leave Konoha and return to Iwagakure, Naito had broken the jar with a kunai.

There were sharp broken edges on it.

The back of his mother's head—

was pierced by one of those jagged edges.

Blood flowed out, spilling into the jar and across the floor.

"No! Mother!"

Naito felt all the chakra in his body surge toward his eyes.

His two-tomoe Sharingan spun rapidly, quickly becoming three tomoe.

Then the three tomoe merged just as quickly.

The violent chakra fluctuations overloaded Naito's nervous system, and he collapsed unconscious.

Uchiha Obito emerged from a spatial vortex. He glanced at the dead Kyoi, grabbed the unconscious Naito, and took him away with Kamui.

After the spatial fluctuations completely disappeared, the Flying Thunder God formula on Kyoi's body lit up.

Yako appeared instantly.

He first waved his hand, dispersing the residual Lightning Release left from his battle with the Raikage.

It had taken some time to kill the Raikage.

Back then, in order to increase his strength, he had chosen shortcuts by taking the bloodlines of the Ōtsutsuki descendants—the Senju, Uchiha, Uzumaki, and others.

Now he was being used by the Sage of Six Paths.

He was too strong. Even the Sage's remnant soul did not dare claim it could definitely defeat him.

So Asura and Indra had reincarnated into his two sons.

His sons were good sons.

But the remnant souls of Asura and Indra deserved death.

Yako bent down and helped Kyoi up.

Kyoi's empty eyes changed, becoming lively again.

"Our son—where is our son?"

After waking, Kyoi immediately asked Miqū.

Yako had long since modified Kyoi's soul using the Evil God's technique, granting her an immortal body as well.

Holding Kyoi, Yako said, "Our son was deceived, Kyoi. Don't worry. I will bring our son back."

Kyoi cried in Yako's arms.

"Why did I have to be an Iwagakure spy? If I were truly a Konoha ninja, how good would that have been? Even if I had just stayed an Iwa ninja and never come here as a spy, our son wouldn't have become like this, right?"

Yako gently stroked Kyoi's hair.

After a long while, Kyoi finally calmed down somewhat.

Yako said, "Kyoi, I know several Uzumaki ninja. They are rebuilding Uzushio Village.

I'll send you there. Hide in Uzushio Village for now.

I'll often visit you through the teleportation shrine."

Kyoi knew her identity had already been exposed, so she could only accept Miqū's suggestion.

After comforting Kyoi, Yako's gaze darkened.

From the Raikage, he had obtained Lightning Release Chakra Mode. His control over Lightning Release had increased greatly, and he had completed Lightning Release particleization.

He had to improve his strength as quickly as possible and reach the Six Paths level.

He would use his two sons to draw out the Sage of Six Paths and the Ōtsutsuki.

When that time came, he would clean them all up.

Who was whose son was still not so clear.
