Vera showed no concern. Instead, she reached for a handful of crushed moonwort and dropped it into the bowl.
Then powdered raven bone. Then silver dust blessed beneath three consecutive full moons.
The mixture began to churn. Slowly....Then faster.
The violet glow that emerged illuminated the entire chamber. An ancient and strong power vibrated through the room. The walls themselves seemed to hum.
Vera extended her bleeding palm above the bowl. Blood dripped steadily into the swirling liquid. Then she began chanting.
Her voice echoed with power, as though reality itself was being ordered to obey.
"Sanguine meo revelentur viae absconditae." And immediately she uttered this spell, the bowl glowed brighter.
"Per vetus pactum et artem primam...Nulla umbra lateat."
A violent gust of wind exploded outward, candles shattered, glass rattled, the very air seemed to scream.
Still Vera continued, her eyes began glowing. Raw magical power gathered around her like a living storm.
