Chapter 137 Jacques' Fear
Although she knew that the Dothraki Sea was not far from here after arriving in Meereen, she had never gone back. She never expected that Drogon would take her there today.
Feeling the refreshing breeze blowing from high above, and thinking about her imminent departure for Westeros, Daenerys felt more cheerful than ever before.
Drogon didn't fly very fast. He knew that Daenerys enjoyed the feeling of riding on his back and soaring through the sky, but as queen, she had too many political affairs to attend to and didn't have much time to roam the skies.
Zhuo Geng took this opportunity to take her flying a little longer.
With Slaver's Bay secured and Ghis Khan subjugated, the army, having just defeated Euron's 50,000-strong force, was about to march on Westeros.
Daenerys had never felt so relaxed since arriving at Slaver's Bay, and she felt the same excitement she had when she first rode Drogon.
Riding on Drogon's back, shouting to release the tension and repression that had been building up inside, and fully enjoying the pleasure of flying.
More than half an hour later, as we approached the Dothraki Sea, we could already smell the scent of grass from afar.
Drogon slowly descended, and soon flew over the grassland. He did not rush to land, but instead carried Daenerys across the grass, flying at low altitude.
They hadn't flown far when they spotted a small karasa that was migrating.
Upon seeing Drogon's enormous figure, the slowly moving Dothraki troops all stopped to watch.
"There seems to be someone on the dragon's back!" a young Dothraki suddenly exclaimed.
"There really is someone!" Another Dothraki woman also saw Daenerys on Drogon's back.
"It looks like a woman. How could the Dragon God let a woman ride on his back?" More and more people saw Daenerys on Drogon's back.
Zhuogeng ignored Little Karasa and flew past them into the depths of the grassland.
As she flew, looking at the familiar grasslands and Dothraki people, Daenerys's thoughts drifted back to her days in the Dothraki.
Drogon flew around the grasslands with Daenerys before heading towards Vis, the only city on the Dothraki plains.
The city is known as the holy city of the Dothraki, and is home to the lake, called the "womb of the world," and Mount Our Lady.
After Khal Drogo died, all the Khaleesi lived in Doshicarin, where Daenerys was almost sent.
Because she did not want to return to Dorshicarin to live out her days, she had no choice but to take little Kharas across the Wastes in search of a way back to Westeros.
Looking down at the city below, which had no walls, only two bronze horse gates and a few simple buildings, Daenerys couldn't understand why Drogon would bring her here.
During her flight across the steppe, she heard the Dothraki call Drogon the Dragon God more than once. She had never imagined that Drogon was so revered by the Dothraki on the steppe.
Although the city of Vis is simple, it is very large; even if all the khalasas from the grasslands came here, it would not be crowded.
Today, for reasons unknown, half of the vast territory of Vis has been occupied by the Dothraki.
Upon approaching, Drogon discovered several earthen huts with many simple wooden frames. The market-like area was not only inhabited by Dothraki, but also by merchants from various ethnic groups.
He then realized that today was supposed to be the day of a major transaction in Vis City, and that he had arrived at a very opportune time.
The Dothraki and merchants in the city saw a dark shadow flying towards Viss from afar. The Dothraki who were familiar with Drogon had already guessed that the black dragon, whom they revered as a dragon god on the plains, had arrived.
The Dothraki people assumed the black dragon was just passing through, because he always ate roasted meat and left, and they had never seen him stay anywhere, let alone heard that he had entered the city of Vis.
Seeing the enormous shadow flying closer and closer, the people in the market realized that Zhuogeng was about to land, and hurriedly ran to the outskirts of the market to make way for the open space in the middle.
Just as Drogon was about to land on the ground, people in the market noticed a small figure on the back of Drogon's enormous dragon.
Seeing Drogon land and lie down on the ground, Daenerys knew he wanted her to get down.
Surrounded by Dothraki and merchants, Daenerys was not afraid, not to mention that fighting was forbidden in the Holy City.
Even if a real fight breaks out, she has Zhuo Geng with her, so she doesn't need to worry about her safety at all.
[Your troops have arrived!]
Just as she was wondering why Zhuo Geng had landed there, she finally heard Zhuo Geng's inner thoughts, but she didn't understand what he meant.
"Are you Khaleesi of Khal Drogo?"
As Daenerys stepped down the steps Drogon had made for her with his wings, she heard a somewhat familiar voice asking a question.
"Jacob?" Daenerys also recognized Jacob, who was standing not far away.
He used to be a Khor for Drogo, managing the largest kharas on the plains for him. After Drogo's death, he broke away from Daenerys and took a large number of Drogo's former men to form his own kharas.
"Why...why are you on the back of the Dragon God?"
The black dragon's power and benevolence had long been known throughout the Dothraki Sea, especially since Drogon underwent a complete transformation after his metamorphosis, resulting in a dramatic change in both appearance and aura.
Some devout believers even felt guidance from the dragon god, which led to an increasing number of people on the grasslands worshipping Drogon, even surpassing their devotion to Mount Our Lady.
Jaco couldn't understand how Khaleesi, abandoned by the Dothraki, could sit on the back of the dragon god.
"He is my dragon, of course I can ride him!"
Seeing the surprised look in Jakob's eyes as he once looked down on her and nearly killed his leader, Daenerys stroked Drogon's gleaming neck scales and said with some pride.
Are those rumors all true?
After Jaco left Khalatha, he heard that Daenerys not only cremated Khal Drogo and burned the witch Miri, but also walked into the fire herself and hatched a dragon.
When he heard the rumor, he and the other khals scoffed at it, refusing to believe that the dragon, which had disappeared for over a hundred years, could be hatched by that woman, Daenerys.
But when Drogon appeared on the plains, they remembered the rumor again, and still did not want to believe that the black dragon was related to Daenerys.
After learning of Khal Drogo's death, they searched everywhere for Daenerys's Kharas, but to no avail.
If they find her, they will send Daenerys to Doshicarin, where she is supposed to be, to stay with the old women, and if she refuses, they will kill her.
They naturally didn't want to believe that the black dragon on the grassland was the one Daenerys had hatched.
They knew very well how they had treated Daenerys. If the rumors were true, would Daenerys, now possessing the black dragon, spare them?
Seeing that even a powerful Khal like Jaco held Drogon in such high esteem, Daenerys gradually understood the meaning of Drogon's words.
"I don't know what rumors you're talking about. I wonder if Giacokao still wants me to join Doshikarin?
