Chapter 85 - 135

Chapter 135 On Momentum

As for the tricks that Sansa and her sister Arya played, he could only assume that the two sisters were protecting themselves after the family suffered a major upheaval.

"Take a look!" Yorn said, handing the letter from King's Landing directly to Sansa.

The contents of the letter were not beyond Sansa's expectations; Cersei indeed knew that she had come to the Eyrie.

After handing the letter to Arya, Sansa looked at Jon and said, "Back then, the Mad King Aerys demanded that Duke Arryn hand over the heads of his adopted son, my father, and King Robert, or he would march on the Valley."

"Duke Arryn raised the banner of rebellion against the Mad King to save his adopted son's life. Are you going to hand over us sisters because of Cersei's threat?"

After hearing what Sansa said, Jon couldn't help but let out a bitter laugh.

The woman standing before her now is no longer the tearful, fragile little girl, but a domineering politician.

Looking at Arya beside him, who was looking up and waiting for his answer, her small face showing a hint of heroism, Yorn could only say that Littlefinger's death was worthwhile.

Even if he doesn't die that day, given enough time, he will eventually die at their hands.

"If we don't hand you over, Queen Cersei will surely send troops out of the Vale. Robin is young and it will be difficult for him to win over the people. Although the Eyrie is easy to defend and difficult to attack, it may not be able to withstand the army of King's Landing."

Although Jon had already made up his mind, he still wanted to hear Sansa's answer.

Sansa desperately wanted to reveal that the mastermind behind Joffrey's murder was the Queen of Thorns of Highgarden, who was allied with the Lannisters through marriage. She believed that if this information were made public, the two families would surely come to blows.

But Littlefinger, the mastermind, is dead, so what she says, now that her fate is sealed, may not be believable.

So she thought for a moment and said, "The Seven Kingdoms are in chaos right now. King's Landing and House Frey have already sent tens of thousands of troops to besiege Riverrun, and Lord Stannis of Dragonstone is waiting to regroup and attack King's Landing again. Cersei certainly doesn't have many troops left to attack the Eyrie."

"Even if she sends out a small number of troops, there is no need to worry about the Eagle's Nest being breached due to its natural defenses."

After Sansa finished speaking, Yorn nodded slightly and then said, "As far as I know, Duke Stannis was crippled after the battle of King's Landing and has now left Dragonstone and his whereabouts are unknown, thus eliminating the threat to King's Landing."

Upon hearing that Stannis had abandoned the attack on King's Landing, Sansa thought for a moment and could only say, "Stannis will definitely not give up on King's Landing. He's probably just leaving temporarily and will come back sooner or later!"

While listening to her sister Sansa and Jon analyze the current situation, Arya was completely confused and couldn't get a word in edgewise.

She's good at sewing needles or killing two weaklings, but when it comes to analyzing the current situation, she's out of the picture.

Watching Sansa chatting away with Jon, she couldn't help but admire her. She hadn't expected that Sansa, who only knew how to sew, would know so much about these things.

When Yorn heard Sansa's explanation, he remained silent. It was already quite remarkable that Sansa could analyze these things; it seemed that she had learned a lot while trapped in King's Landing.

Although war has broken out in the Seven Kingdoms and King's Landing is threatened by Stannis, the forces available to attack the Eyrie are certainly not lacking.

However, King Tommen is young, and if he were the son of King Robert, who grew up in the Vale, Jon might consider their past relationship and support him.

However, he was not, but rather the son of Cersei and her brother Jaime through incest.

With Cersei currently in control of the government, Jon doesn't believe she can manage the Seven Kingdoms well.

House Arryn was one of the first Andal nobles to invade Westeros more than 6,000 years ago. They possess the purest Andal noble blood and have ruled the Vale for thousands of years.

The Eyrie was known as an impregnable city, and it only submitted to Aegon the Conqueror and his steed, Balerion, during his reign.

With Cersei's small army, it's wishful thinking to try and take the Eyrie.

Since Robin's father, Duke Arryn, did not hand over his two adopted sons, Yorn naturally would not yield to that madwoman Cersei and send the Sansa sisters away.

Looking at the two sisters who were staring at him nervously, Yorn smiled and said, "You two can stay in Eyrie and take good care of little Duke Robin. I will not hand you over to Cersei."

Another reason why Jon didn't hand Sansa and the others over was because of Robin.

He discovered that Robin was extremely dependent on Sansa, treating her as if she were his deceased mother. Arya had a similarly good relationship with Robin and often accompanied him to fencing.

If he were to hand Sansa and the others over, Robin would be the first to object.

Having made his decision, Yorn no longer hesitated. After parting ways with the Sansa sisters, he went to find other nobles in the Vale to prepare for a united front against the possible arrival of the King's Landing army.

Having achieved the desired result, Sansa and Arya were completely relieved and returned to their residence with satisfaction.

......

Inside the council chamber, Daenerys was looking at the Westeros message that Varys had sent her.

The wildlings had reached the Wall and launched a siege, but the Night's Watch successfully defended it.

Littlefinger Petyr died in the Eyrie in the Vale. According to the Vale people, Petyr was imprisoned in the Skydeck for murdering the former Duchess of the Eyrie.

He fell to his death after rolling down a hundred-foot cliff while sleeping in the prison.

Upon seeing this message, Tyrion, Barristan, and even Drogon were all astonished, except for Daenerys and a few others who were unfamiliar with Littlefinger Petyr.

This biggest troublemaker in the seven kingdoms, a manipulator of people's hearts to an unparalleled degree, died so quickly, and in his sleep no less.

If it weren't for the message from Varys, Drogon wouldn't have believed it.

Not to mention Drogon and Tyrion, even Varys, who wrote the message, couldn't believe it.

Petyr, who had arm wrestled with him several times in King's Landing without being at a disadvantage, was dead.

Varys was still somewhat skeptical when he received the news, so he had someone investigate again before confirming it.

Knowing that Petyr was dead, Drogon saw the message that Cersei was demanding that the Eyrie hand over Sansa and Arya.

Upon seeing the two women, Zhuo Geng immediately connected it to Littlefinger's death. Could it be that these two sisters had killed Littlefinger beforehand?

Otherwise, how can we explain why someone as shrewd and appreciative as Littlefinger would fall off a hundred-foot cliff in his sleep?

Although Tyrion also felt that Littlefinger's death was suspicious, he didn't suspect Sansa. His wife, who was only in name, couldn't possibly have killed Littlefinger, and even if she wanted to, she wouldn't have the ability.

While Littlefinger's death was far beyond Tyrion's expectations, he was now pondering another matter.

Tyrion also witnessed Drogon's focused gaze upon the scroll as Daenerys was reading it.

Two days ago, he overheard someone saying that Daenerys was teaching Drogon to write, which he found absurd and thought Daenerys was just playing around with her little dragon.

But seeing Zhuo Geng reading the letter so intently and thoughtfully today made him suspect that Zhuo Geng not only knew how to read, but could actually write.

He then thought of Drogon's connection with the mysterious man. If Drogon had already learned to write, was it possible that Drogon was the mysterious man who had been corresponding with Varys?

Tyrion immediately dismissed the idea. Even if Drogon was intelligent and knew many words, he could already write. He couldn't possibly be the mysterious man.

Because the things related to the mysterious person are not things that a dragon could do alone, and they have nothing to do with intelligence, literacy, or writing.

As he pondered, Tyrion found himself caught in a state of endless inner conflict once again.

"Lord Tyrion, do you think the Eyrie will hand over Sansa and Arya?"
