Author's Note on the Launch of Chapter 114
The book will be available for purchase tomorrow, with five chapters released around 1 PM. I will add more chapters on the second day after the book is released, depending on the number of subscriptions: one extra chapter for every 20 subscriptions, and two extra chapters for every 15 subscriptions. I hope everyone will support me!
Actually, this book isn't a novel with over 2 million words, but I still hope that readers can spend some spare change to support it, even if it's just in the initial stage after it's been published, which is also the most difficult stage!
"Your support is my greatest motivation!" This is not just empty words.
There aren't many Game of Thrones fans who enjoy reading the novel, and even fewer non-Game of Thrones fans who are reading this book (thankfully, I have the support of non-Game of Thrones fans). I need all of your support to continue writing!
The recommendations this week didn't go very well; the audience for Game of Thrones fanfiction is still too small.
After seeing the recommendation results, I even regretted writing Game of Thrones fanfiction, because the Game of Thrones fanfiction craze was in 2019, and it has now passed.
Moreover, I wrote a non-human protagonist, which was a big taboo a few years ago. Only in the last two years have more people started reading it, but there are still some Game of Thrones fans who can't get into it.
Actually, when I first planned to write fanfiction, I didn't intend to write about Drogon. Instead, I planned to write about another character, a character that no one had ever written about before. I felt that it was also quite interesting and would directly address the heart of the Westeros vortex.
Just as I was about to start writing, I suddenly came up with the idea for this book, which I found quite novel, so I abandoned my original plan.
Let's talk about the plot.
Before writing this, I searched for a lot of Game of Thrones fanfiction, but I only read the beginnings of each one. Mainly, I didn't have much time to read them, and secondly, I felt that most of them were not similar to what I wanted to write.
What I want to write is to make up for the shortcomings of the TV series, change the nonsensical parts of the series, and add new plots.
Some people say that I write old plots, but I don't write some important old plots and change the whole plot beyond recognition. I guess many readers will not be able to stand it.
Some people say the protagonist is a saint, saving everyone he meets.
As I wrote at the beginning, Game of Thrones has too many regrets, with one major character after another meeting their end.
The reason for saving Jon Snow was a spur-of-the-moment decision while writing that chapter. Originally, I just wanted to go see him, even if he died, because Melisandre would bring him back to life later.
He only changed his plans after suddenly recalling the horrific scene of being surrounded and stabbed multiple times by the Night's Watch without his knowledge.
After saving him, the subsequent plot was changed, and a certain plot point that some readers were worried about will no longer occur.
Some readers may be able to guess what it is, because that was my original intention, as you can see from the previous text.
I know many readers only want to read about Zhuo Geng and don't want to read other plots, saying that Zhuo Geng is running around causing trouble.
The biggest highlight of Game of Thrones is the power struggles among the nobles and the diverse characters with distinct personalities. As a leading man, how can I write the other parts of the story if I don't run around the block a couple of times?
There will be many more who only write about abandoning the book in Slaver's Bay, and Daenerys Targaryen doesn't have many scenes in the TV series since the birth of the dragon. I could write about it in detail, but would you like to watch it?
I can write new Slaver's Bay plots, but I can't seem to see Westeros plots or familiar characters. Do you guys like reading them?
The Game of Thrones TV series has three storylines: King's Landing, Daenerys Targaryen, and the Wall.
I can't abandon the other two storylines and only write about Daenerys Targaryen; that wouldn't be Game of Thrones fanfiction for me. Besides, there are quite a few non-Game of Thrones fans reading this book, and I need to make sure they have a general understanding of the Game of Thrones storyline.
When I was writing the scene of Littlefinger's death, I knew I had written a lot. I counted and it was eight thousand words, which surprised me.
But that part of the story wouldn't end until Littlefinger dies; otherwise, the plot and emotions would be disjointed, and the effect would be greatly diminished.
I can only try my best to make it interesting and less toxic. I'm basically satisfied with it after I finished writing it, even though no one gave me any tips in the two days after I released those four chapters.
In the future, I will try to simplify the plot outside of Drogon, write less of the original story, and create more original plot.
It's no exaggeration to say that writing this book was like walking on thin ice. Every twenty chapters or so, I would review the entire book to make sure that some parts would upset the readers.
Many people say that people are easily hurt, which is very common among online novel authors, but it is also quite common among book lovers. There are many who will abandon a book at the slightest disagreement.
In fact, a book cannot be all about exciting moments, thrilling moments, and climaxes; it also needs transitional plots and subplots.
Perhaps readers will lose interest or even abandon the book when they encounter content they don't like while reading. However, once they get through that part of the story, they will find that the content they didn't want to read before is not so bad, and they may even find it somewhat interesting.
Of course I'm not asking readers to give up reading and wait until the book is finished before reading it. If you do that, I'll really cry. You might not even see the book finished. Let me make this clear, this is not a threat!
Just kidding, this book will definitely be finished!
I just want to say that a book can't be all exciting or thrilling moments.
As a struggling author, I can't make the whole story exciting. I can only try my best to make the plot more enjoyable for everyone to read.
One reader on QQ Reading commented: "Intelligent, not brainless." I feel quite satisfied that I was able to achieve this with this novel.
Many people complain about the flaws in certain novels, but the authors also want to avoid them. However, for certain plot points, it is simply difficult to justify them.
I like watching American TV series, but I basically don't watch any other shows. It's not that I don't support them, it's just that there are some parts I can't stand.
Didn't they know it was a toxic spot? They wanted to avoid it, but it wasn't easy, so they could only let it be.
I don't have the mind of a mystery novelist. I'll try my best to explore the political intrigue in Game of Thrones to the fullest extent. I hope you can forgive any flaws and not give up on the book so easily. After all, without your support, it would be difficult for me to continue writing with quality and quantity.
Due to work, I've been writing on my phone, so my typing speed is limited and my brain capacity is even more insufficient. Even after the book is published, I'll still update twice a day, and I'll add more as needed. I hope you can all be understanding!
Many thanks to the editor, Wu Xing, for their guidance and recommendations. Thank you to all the readers who have followed my book, voted, and given me tips, and to all those "Keep it up!" messages—I'm truly touched. Thank you so much!
I would also like to thank the Chinese Wikipedia of A Song of Ice and Fire, as some data for this book was referenced there. Readers are welcome to visit it if they find any content of interest.
I'm so sleepy at night that I'm afraid to go to sleep, even after washing my face several times, which reminds me of the story of pricking my thigh with an awl; I wake up more than an hour early in the morning before my alarm goes off, and so on and so forth...
I won't try to elicit sympathy; I just hope everyone can contribute some spare change to support us, even if it's only during the very beginning and most difficult phase...
grateful!!!
