(Viewpoint: Roum)
The door closed.
Gently.
Without slamming.
Without noise.
Asmara had simply disappeared behind her.
I remained motionless in the middle of the room.
My hands were still resting against my temples.
Her voice continued to echo in my head.
Remember me.
Remember us.
Remember yourself.
I clenched my fists and hit my head.
– Stop...
No one answered me.
I slowly raised my head.
The apartment was exactly as it had been before; it was as if everything I had just experienced had been a hallucination.
The sofa.
The table.
The window.
The artificial assistant in her corner.
Everything seemed normal.
And yet...
Nothing was.
I looked at the door and put a hand to my forehead.
I was exhausted, my eyes were floating and my throat was so dry, I felt free but unable to understand.
My chest felt heavy, my thoughts were a hazy, painful mix.
– asmara?
Silence.
I dragged myself miserably across the ground and
Grab the door handle.
She didn't move.
Locked.
I repeatedly struck the cold metal; it was compact, hard, did not tremble, and became unbearable; only the palm of my hand turned red from striking it.
– Open.
No response.
I turned to the assistant.
– Give me a straightforward, logical answer, open it up to me, or at best, tell me what's going on, have someone explain it to me.
Trouble.
The artificial silhouette remained motionless.
– Unauthorized question.
I threw the first object onto the box of that thing and couldn't stop myself from screaming for no reason.
– ANSWER ME, since when are my questions not allowed?
– This information is not accessible.
I laughed nervously and scratched my head, my arm, my torso, I was scratching, I felt like there were thousands of ants crawling under my skin, I'm hot, hot.
– haaaaaaaaa, haaaaa Of course,of course.
I got up abruptly, walked away and came back to bang hard against the door.
Something was bothering me, my arm started to gesticulate strangely, it was a sharp pain followed by sensations, but what was it? I didn't pay attention to it and just turned around and resumed my offensive.
I want to understand why her face made me want to both run away and protect her.
I understand whether this is a dream or a nightmare; I will soon wake up, open my eyes, and get my life back.
I slid down the door and collapsed onto the floor.
And everything seemed like a dream again, a distant memory of déjà vu.
A woman.
I still couldn't see his face.
But I recognized her hands.
They were trembling.
No fear.
Out of anger.
Or perhaps sadness.
I don't remember anymore, but each time, like the first time, she threw me into the void, into the depths.
I was breathing too fast.
– My sister...
The word came out of my mouth on its own.
In a room located several levels below the complex, a woman was watching the same screen.
Roum appeared before her.
His face still bore the marks of confusion.
But her eyes had changed.
Asmara remained silent.
A researcher was standing behind her.
– Should we put him in contact with his EMOTIONAL side?
She did not answer.
– We can lock his memories back.
Alpha-1 raised his hand slightly.
– No.
The researcher hesitated.
– But it seems he's recovering all of his data...
She looked at Roum's picture.
– That's the best, we still have one topic to recover.
– How can you be so sure?
A slight smile appeared on her lips.
Because his sister is his true other half.
She smiled.
– She's the one I need.
