[MEEREEN; THRONE ROOM]
[The room is dark, except for some candles. DAENERYS and DAARIO stand over the body of BARRISTAN.]
"This is bullshit!" Jaime raged, catching many off guard. "A man of Barristan's calibre cut down by mask-wearing rats! I refuse to believe this!"
"And yet the truth is before us," Ned said glumly. "The gods play cruel tricks on us from time to time. Someone as decorated as Ser Barristan the Bold cut down by rats can be no greater trick."
Jaime spat in disgust. Whichever 'god' wrote that fate was a clown and nothing would change Jaime's mind about it.
Wrong answer by Jamie Lannister nad Rhaegar Targaryen they lose the chance to answer the next two questions.
Congratulations Jon Snow for the right answer you get the power of flight, you can fly in air like a dragon.
Jon sensed the power of flight inside him and decided to test it, he easily lifted of his seat and started to move in the air.
"Hahaha" Jon couldn't control himself from laughing out loud as he had been feeling sad as to not being able to swing like spiderman but now he can fly and doesn't even need to swing like him.
"Oh, I want to fly as well." Arya said excitedly
"Maybe you will get the reward for flying as well" Jon said encouragingly as he patted Arya's head after getting back on his seat.
[HIZDAHR enters with two men.]
"I am so sorry, my queen. He was a good man."
"Barristan the Bold, they called him. He crossed a continent to serve me.
"Only when he was dismissed from the Kingsguard" Tyrion muttered. He did not doubt that Ser Barristan would have served Joffrey had he not been dismissed... like the man silently served Mad King Aerys
"He was a loyal friend. And he died in an alley, butchered by cowards who hide behind masks."
"We could pull back to the pyramid district, secure it, and use it as a base from which to operate. Then we clean the city out, neighbourhood by neighbourhood, street by street, until the rats have nowhere left to hide."
"It would be a good plan, would reduce the casualties and allow for a greater number of guards and patrolling men...
"But it would also mean relinquishing lands for the Sons of Harpy to fester over. And it would also trap Daenerys and her people in the heart of the city."
Daenerys bit her cheeks with worry. She heard the conversation between Jon and Robb clearly enough, and she was nervous.
"I prefer your earlier suggestion. Round up the leaders of each of Meereen's great families and bring them to me."
"But... I'm the leader of my family."
[DAARIO nods. The two men behind HISDAHR grab and restrain him. He is taken away.]
"He could have been an inside man" Lyanna murmured for the good of the girl beside her, who was not biting her lips from nerves. But it was clear even for the Stark girl that the loss of an ally in such a manner was not a good thing for a monarch, especially one who understood ways to get the city to submit without violence.
[DRAGON CHAMBER]
[DAENERYS, DAARIO, some Unsullied, and a number of men stand in the chamber. DAARIO holds a torch. After a few moments, DAENERYS turns around and begins walking. DAARIO follows her. Then a chain can be heard rattling.]
"Is it necessary?" Myrcella asked. If they were taking people to that place, there was only one reason.
"Some people torture their prisoners to get what they need... Some people kill their prisoners in front of the other and put the fear of death to get what they want. Daenerys is not doing anything different here" Joanna explained uneasily. She understood it, but it still made her uneasy.
Myrcella nods, still unsure.
[DAENERYS speaks in Valyrian. The Unsullied lower their spears at the other men. One man argues in Valyrian. The Unsullied begin walking forward, forcing the men to move. After a few moments, they stop. Chains rattle again. The Unsullied and the men take another step at DAENERYS' command. Chains rattle and an unseen dragon snarls. DAENERYS walks through the Unsullied to the front of the group.]
"They will eat you if I tell them to. They may eat you even if I don't. Children. Some say I should give up on them. But a good mother never gives up on her children. She disciplines them if she must."
Rhaegar nods approvingly. Good, that is the attitude she should have. She brought the dragons back, and now she must learn to understand and tame them as much as a dragon could be tamed.
[DAENERYS looks at DAARIO. He walks over and pushes the mumbling man forward, onto his knees].
"But she does not give up on them."
[The man's eyes widen. A dragon comes out of the shadows and breathes fire on him. He screams and dies. The dragons take his corpse, tear it in two, and eat it.]
The people flinched violently at the scene. It was not pretty by any means, gorey as any war field would be.
"Who is innocent? Maybe all of you are, maybe none of you are. Maybe, I should let the dragons decide."
"You would condemn the innocent?" Bran asked aghast.
Daenerys flinched.
"The price of war, I fear" Varys answered, his tone one of understanding. "What would you do if the choice was up to you? Protect a few and let hundreds die? Or would you let a few die and save hundreds?"
"I would find a way to save them all" Bran declared.
Varys only smiled.
It was Ned who answered, who broke the delusion his son bore.
"The world is not perfect enough, my son. To save the mass, a small number must be put to the blade. Otherwise, there would be chaos and death and carnage... As we have seen so far, death was necessary... It is never an easy thing, something that nobody should be proud of. But something that we must all accept."
Bran frowned deeply, his bottom lip jutting out so much that he looked ready to cry. But he wasn't going to cry, he would only question the order of things and maybe try to understand them.
[CASTLE BLACK; LIBRARY]
[SAM sits at a table, reading a letter. MAESTER AEMON is with him.]
"And though Daenerys maintains her grip on Slaver's Bay, forces rise against her from within and without. She refuses to leave until the freedom of the former slaves is secure. She sounds like quite a woman."
"And she's alone, under siege, no family to guide her or protect her. Her last relation thousands of miles away, useless, dying. A Targaryen, alone in the world, is a terrible thing."
Rhaegar smiled sadly. Once upon a time, he had been in deep contact with Maester Aemon... once upon a time for the man that is. For Rhaegar the memories were still fresh and recent in comparison. Which made things even sadder. Nobody after him had the opportunity to reach out to the old man.
[JON walks in.]
"Maester Aemon, I'd like to speak to you alone."
[SAM gets up, grabs his papers, and leaves. JON walks over and sits at the table.]
"I need your advice. There's something I want to do, something I have to do. But it'll divide the Night's Watch. Bitterly. Half the men will hate me the moment I give the order."
"Half the men already hate you" Brandon the Elder chuckled.
"Half the men hate you already, Lord Commander."
Brandon smirked.
"Do it."
"But you don't know what it is."
"That doesn't matter. You do. You will find little joy in your command. But with luck, you will find the strength to do what needs to be done. Kill the boy, Jon Snow. Winter is almost upon us. Kill the boy, and let the man be born."
"Not ominous at all" Lyanna muttered, grasping her son's hand tighter. How she wished Jon could be a boy just a little longer...
