Chapter 240 - Awakening of the Gourmet Cells

The ghostly flames flickered endlessly, casting eerie reflections across the training room.

The giant blade shimmered with a soul-chilling light, sharp enough to pierce the heart itself.

Brook's skeletal hands fluttered across the piano keys like twin butterflies, dancing freely in midair. The melody that followed grew livelier and brighter with every note.

It was as if time itself began to flow once more, moving forward gently along the river of sound.

Within the music, the darkness slowly faded.

It was as though the pain of parting and the weight of endless loneliness were melting away, replaced by the warmth of a radiant sun that shone into the river of life.

The skeletal giant's mouth curved upward ever so slightly, as though it too had glimpsed the light of hope within that melody.

Sanji froze for a moment.

He could have sworn… he'd just seen a smile on that terrifying skull, a smile that felt warm, almost familial, soothing the unease that had been stirring deep within his body since awakening his Gourmet Cells.

========

The notes that danced around his ears suddenly shifted, turning into something like a command.

The skeletal giant's face began to mirror Brook's own expression.

But unlike the musician's serene smile, the light flashing from the giant's blade was filled with merciless killing intent.

Brook's joy, however, was unmistakable.

Through the melody's rising brightness, he had finally stepped out of the darkness that had imprisoned his soul for so long.

The melody of hope began to play once more.

The skeletal giant stood tall, its ghostly flames no longer cold, but warm and vibrant.

Then, without warning, it raised its sword, and brought it crashing down toward Sanji.

The blade sliced through the air, leaving a streak of pale light behind.

CLANG!!!

The black blade struck the floor, but instead of shattering it, the impact only rang out in a sharp, echoing tone that filled the training hall.

Sanji barely dodged in time, rolling across the ground to avoid the devastating strike.

Yet, the joyful music continued, carrying the feeling of reunion, of companionship, of finding happiness in others through one person.

For that person... I would give my all.

The black bone blade swung again.

A wave of crushing air pressure surged forward, tearing across the room toward Sanji.

BOOM!!!

A heavy sound thundered through the chamber as a gale roared into existence.

Sanji's golden hair whipped backward in the storm before the air finally stilled.

When the wind subsided, he stood firm, one foot pressing down upon the black sword that had nearly cleaved him in two.

========

Sanji stood straight, eyes blazing with golden fire.

From deep within his body, a terrifying power began to rise.

He tilted his head up slowly and said in a low, fierce voice:

"Don't… you dare… underestimate me!!!"

Crack… crack…

His thigh muscles tightened, veins bulging as he stomped down hard.

A faint fracture appeared beneath his heel, spreading like lightning through the blade's surface.

BOOM!

The black sword shattered in an instant, crushed beneath Sanji's overwhelming strength!

Flames surged up from his leg, waves of heat radiating outward as his power boiled over.

The energy coursed violently through him, his breath steaming the air around him.

The Gourmet Cell system, much like Koby's "Nen"-based power, had its own evolutionary paths, some focused on raw enhancement, others on manipulation or manifestation.

And now…

Sanji was standing at the edge of awakening.

A wild, burning power swelled within his heart.

The more he desired strength, the more it answered his call.

And at that moment… it erupted.

A Gourmet Cell ability akin to the Emission Type of Nen,

Elemental Release!

Boundless flames spiraled around Sanji's legs, yet miraculously, they didn't burn the last remaining scraps of his pants.

"What… what is this…?"

Sanji stared blankly at the fire dancing around his body.

He hadn't meant to summon it. He'd only wanted to strike harder, to go further.

But in that instant of desire, the flames had answered him.

The joyful melody faded into stillness.

Brook smiled faintly at the sight of Sanji pushing back his skeletal titan, a hint of satisfaction glimmering in his empty sockets.

Then, his fingers struck the keys again!

A bold, rousing melody thundered through the air like a battle hymn, stirring Sanji's very soul.

His confusion vanished in an instant, replaced by unshakable resolve and fiery confidence.

========

The flames of the soul reignited.

The skeletal giant's broken sword was engulfed by green ghostfire.

The flames spread, reshaping, until a long bone spear emerged in the giant's grasp.

The war-song still echoed, but this time, the titan did not attack.

Instead, it raised the massive spear toward the ceiling, the weapon's tip glowing an eerie blue.

The giant lifted its skull high and,

BZZZT!

A beam of azure light shot straight upward, striking the ceiling like a bolt of lightning.

Then came the rumble, deep and thunderous, rolling like a storm from another world.

And from beyond that sound… came the roar of dragons.

"ROAAARRR!!!"

Then three more voices followed,

"SKREEEE!"

"SSSSHHH!"

"WRROOOAAR!"

The light above darkened as shadows poured across the ceiling, like storm clouds swallowing the sun.

Darkness blanketed the entire room.

========

CLANG!

Zoro's blades left their sheaths in a flash. His expression turned grave as he called softly,

"Luffy…"

"Yeah."

Luffy nodded, flames flickering faintly in his palms as he muttered,

"What… is that thing…"

========

Among the Starry Sky Pirates, Robin watched quietly from the sidelines.

Her enhanced perception, boosted by the equipment she carried, allowed her to sense the disturbance, though not as clearly as Luffy or Zoro.

The others, less sensitive to such forces, simply stared in shock as four colossal figures emerged from the spatial rift Brook had opened.

Azure Dragon. Black Tortoise. Vermilion Bird. White Tiger.

The Four Divine Beasts of legend, now gathered in one place, each standing at a cardinal point, guarding the skeletal giant at their center.

The crushing aura that followed made Sanji's body tense, though he remained unshaken.

The four beasts slowly descended, aligning themselves with the skeletal titan's height.

It was a strange sight,

for though their true forms towered far above the titan, in Sanji's senses… they were equal.

Before he could ponder it further, the beasts transformed into streams of radiant energy, rushing into the skeletal giant's body.

The Azure Dragon merged with the bone spear in its hand.

The once-pale weapon turned deep blue, its shaft covered in shimmering dragon scales. The dragon's tail coiled around the handle, while its head formed the gleaming spearpoint, a living reflection of the dragon itself, eyes burning with divine might.
