The rest of the watch passed in near silence. Elizabeth stood with her back to the rock, legs slightly parted, feeling the slow, inevitable drip continue.
Aiden remained close enough that their shoulders touched whenever the wind shifted. Neither of them spoke again about what they had done. The evidence was already loud enough in the way she had to adjust her stance every few minutes.
The night air stayed cold and dry. Occasional gusts carried dust down from the higher shelves. Elizabeth kept her eyes on the dark trail ahead and the thin strip of sky visible between the rock walls.
Her body still carried the weight of the earlier hours. The mess between her legs had settled into a steady leak that soaked the inner seams of her trousers and made every shift of weight noticeable.
