Machamp and Hitmonchan collided in the splashing water.
The two Pokémon exchanged many punches. One attacked while the other defended. One struck while the other dodged. In only ten seconds, they threw nearly a hundred punches.
However, two fists could not compete with four hands. Hitmonchan moved fast enough to create afterimages. Still, having fewer arms was a disadvantage. Machamp quickly gained the upper hand.
This was a clear power gap. Natsui was a Conference Champion. Facing a Trainer from a remote island, his ace Pokémon did not need to struggle.
It was a display of overwhelming power.
The same happened with the other Pokémon. After a short testing phase, the battle between Gardevoir and Walrein ended instantly.
It was difficult to fight the ace Pokémon in Natsui's regular team.
Gardevoir did not fight often lately. It did not seem to have a large presence. However, it was the Pokémon that had been with Natsui the longest. Its strength increased consistently. It might not defeat the mutated Giant Red Gyarados or an anomaly like Gengar. But besides them, no one in the regular team could beat it.
In fact, Walrein would usually not even face Gardevoir if Iwashimizu had challenged him formally.
Gardevoir destroyed Walrein's Water Gun. Then, it used Psychic. An invisible force wrapped around Walrein. It lifted Walrein's entire body into the air.
The time between Gardevoir's two Psychic attacks was extremely short. The speed was so rapid that Iwashimizu could not react.
Iwashimizu was in a daze. He saw that the psychic energy firmly controlled his Walrein.
The speed was incredible.
He did not remember the Gardevoir species having such a short gap between moves.
"Walrein, break free quickly!!"
He frowned. He wanted Walrein to escape. But Gardevoir had perfect control over psychic energy. It could not break free just because he wanted it to.
Gardevoir pushed its hands down. Walrein took damage from the pressure. Then, it was slammed hard from the air toward the ground. It crashed into Hitmonchan. Machamp had just pushed Hitmonchan back.
Bang!
The two Pokémon fell in the same spot. They were stacked on top of each other.
The people supporting Iwashimizu stopped cheering. They were stunned and silent. No one could say a word.
The disparity was too large.
No one expected this result before the fight.
They did not think this girl and the young man would be this powerful. They suppressed the strongest trainer on the island.
Only Misty cheered loudly in the silent crowd.
"Go Natsui! Go Bea!!"
The collision hurt both Pokémon. Their limbs were tangled together. They could not get up.
Machamp approached them with large steps. Iwashimizu felt anxious. He shouted loudly.
"Walrein, pull yourself together! Get up quickly!"
The Pokémon did not need a reminder. Walrein and Hitmonchan saw the hostile Machamp. They tried hard to stand up. However, they panicked and struggled.
They were not rookies. After a moment, they managed to stand up before Machamp reached them.
Hitmonchan prepared its stance. Machamp was right in front of it. Machamp hit it with many punches.
Thud thud thud thud!!
Hitmonchan fought in a rush. The result was the same.
Hitmonchan took over twelve hits quickly. Machamp found a weakness in its defense. It used Seismic Toss. It lifted Hitmonchan high, turned, and slammed it into the ground.
At the same time, Walrein got up. It used Aurora Beam toward Gardevoir. It was foolish to think this attack would hit Gardevoir.
Gardevoir used Teleport. It easily dodged the blue beam of cold air. It appeared on the other side of Walrein. It used a direct Psychic attack to knock Walrein to the ground.
It was a complete victory.
Natsui did not hold back. He gave his opponent no chances.
To Natsui, Iwashimizu was easy to defeat. He was like the members of Team Aqua or Team Magma.
Natsui was not Ash. Gardevoir was not Pikachu. Its strength did not vary or reset. It would not struggle against a weaker opponent.
Since his ace Pokémon was on the field, there was only one result. He used a suffocating rhythm to win. He gave the opponent no openings.
"What!?"
Iwashimizu could not believe his eyes. He saw his Pokémon fall easily.
This did not look like a double battle. Their Pokémon were defeated after the first clash.
They did not deal effective damage. Their Pokémon collapsed after taking only a few hits.
He wondered if these were still his Pokémon. He thought they had balanced attributes and stamina.
He wondered why his Pokémon were so fragile.
He thought the gap between them was massive. This made his Pokémon look weak.
He was still in shock. Then, he saw something flash. He turned his head. His partner's Hitmonchan flew backward. it fell on its back on the ground.
He did not expect to be defeated in a few rounds.
The crowd was loud. No one predicted this outcome.
The strongest trainer on the island was beaten by this man.
After a long time, Iwashimizu realized the gap between them.
This man was too formidable.
He wondered why Natsui did not want to fight earlier if he was this strong.
He also wondered why the woman was so powerful.
She had seemed ordinary before. He had not noticed her.
He was puzzled. However, he knew he would lose again if they fought. This made him feel discouraged.
"I lost..."
Iwashimizu used his Poké Ball. He pulled Walrein back inside. He spoke sadly.
"You are really strong. You are the strongest person I have ever met. But this doesn't prove your method is better than ours. Even if we lost to you, we will still continue the muscle training method!"
Natsui shrugged nonchalantly. He did not want to show off or put them in their place. He did not argue about the correct method.
He did not care how these people trained.
This battle was just a challenge. He used extreme strength to defeat them.
Gardevoir felt no danger. Its strength did not even improve.
It was not even a warm-up.
This was not a humble brag. These were the Pokémon he had with him.
If he used Eevee, Metang, or Milotic, the fight would be harder.
Iwashimizu had bad luck. He challenged Natsui at the wrong time.
Natsui did not say anything. He waved to the people. Then, he left with Bea and Misty.
This was a small event for him. He would forget Iwashimizu by tomorrow. This man would be forgotten as time passed.
He might only recall this incident in the future when he remembered meeting Bea again.
The Sea Outside Sootopolis Island
Natsui and Misty had left the ship. The International Police boat was heading southwest.
It had been sailing for several hours. Its destination was Slateport City. This city was at the southern end of the Hoenn mainland. The International Police headquarters was located there.
Shelly felt restless in the cabin. Before night, she went to the deck for fresh air.
She saw Courtney leaning against the railing. Courtney was looking at the horizon. Shelly let out a "Tsk."
Still, she walked to Courtney's side. She looked at the distant sea quietly.
They were on the same boat. Their names were now clear. Shelly used to avoid the police. Courtney came from a similar organization. This made Shelly feel more comfortable.
Courtney looked at her but said nothing.
The two of them stared at the sea. The atmosphere was a bit awkward but peaceful.
They watched the sea for a long time. The cold sea breeze made Shelly feel a severe chill.
She looked at Courtney's wind-resistant cloak. She puffed out air. She tightened her clothes. She was going back to the cabin. Then, she saw a rainbow.
The rainbow was beautiful. The evening sun shone on the colorful rainbow.
Shelly furrowed her eyebrows.
It was sunset. She wondered why a rainbow would appear now.
It had not rained. There was no water vapor. She wondered how a rainbow could appear.
Then, a peculiar transformation happened.
A gap opened in the curved rainbow like a door. It showed a deep, dark space behind it. It looked like a starry sky.
A Pokémon crawled out from the gap. Shelly had never seen it before.
It was a very tall Pokémon. Its appearance was bizarre.
Its body looked like black crystal. It glowed with a strange black light. It looked like a living monster made of armor.
It had no wings but floated in the sky. Each large hand had three claws. A three-sided prism crystal was on the back of its hands. The crystals changed color from white to black. Its legs were small. The front of its body had jagged edges. It had a large, four-sided pyramid tail. Many black spikes grew on its helmet-like head.
Looking at it made Shelly shiver.
Alarm bells rang in her mind. It was a terrifying Pokémon. They were far apart, but Shelly felt it was coming for the ship.
In the next second, the Pokémon disappeared. It reappeared directly above the boat.
"Not good!!"
She shouted in shock. She tried to warn people. Most officers were in the dining hall. No one was nearby except for her and Courtney.
The Pokémon moved.
It did not seem to do anything. However, an invisible force pinned the boat. The ship stopped suddenly. It could not move.
The engines were still running. The path was blocked. The boat felt like it hit something hard. It vibrated violently. The metal hull made a sharp, loud sound.
Everyone on the ship fell down. They were caught off guard.
Shelly fell too. She used her experience at sea to grab a railing. She stood up immediately.
She looked at the Pokémon. Her face looked terrible.
It was a Psychic-type.
She guessed the type because of how it controlled the ship.
A Pokémon with this ability was very troublesome.
She wondered where it came from. She wondered why it attacked the ship.
She had no time to think. The boat was in chaos. Sirens echoed over the sea. The International Police were well-trained. They regrouped quickly. They came to the deck with their weapons.
Shelly heard footsteps. Anabel arrived at Shelly's side. She was dizzy from the impact. She grabbed the railing and looked at the black Pokémon. She cried out.
"What... what on earth is that!?"
