On the windswept plain, Goku and Jiren stood facing each other like two statues, locked in a stalemate.
Their gazes met like bolts of lightning, as though they could ignite the air itself.
Goku stared intently at Jiren, excitement shining in his eyes. The impact of their recent blows had made him acutely aware of just how powerful his opponent was.
Compared to Kale earlier, Jiren seemed even stronger.
Goku thought that the force he had just used was greater than that used against Kale, yet the result of that punch was less impressive.
"Not bad. You really haven't disappointed me, Jiren." A faint smile appeared at the corner of Goku's lips as he muttered this to himself.
Jiren fixed his large, bell-like eyes on Goku. Determination and cold indifference filled his gaze. However, he did not respond to Goku's words. Instead, he silently tightened the fist of his free hand once more.
At that instant...
In a mere 0.01 seconds, a phantom-like shadow rushed into Goku's field of vision.
In that split second, Goku realized that Jiren's speed was as fast as lightning itself. He barely had time to react.
Just as the shadow was about to reach his face, he relied on his keen battle instincts and leaned back abruptly.
His body bent away like a stalk of wheat in a fierce wind, retreating continuously to evade Jiren's attack.
As he retreated, his feet dug deep furrows into the ground, but at that very moment, gust after gust of wind generated by Jiren's fists whistled past his ears.
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
These piercing sounds forced Goku to speed up his evasive movements, driving him farther and farther backwards.
Soon, he found himself backed up against a massive mountain.
It was then that Goku realized that his current form alone was not enough to keep up with Jiren's speed.
After a brief moment of thought, he stood his ground and instantly transformed into Super Saiyan 4 Full Power.
"AAAAHHHHHHHH!"
An incomparably powerful aura suddenly erupted from Goku's back.
It was like a tidal wave crashing against the heavens, instantly blasting the mountain behind him into countless fragments.
A deafening roar shook the battlefield.
Countless rocks and clods of earth exploded into the sky, forming a vast cloud of dust. The dust spread out, covering the heavens and turning the area into a raging sandstorm.
Yet, amid the chaos, a dazzling golden light suddenly burst forth.
This brilliant radiance illuminated the entire darkened space.
Like the first ray of dawn breaking through the night, it effortlessly dispersed the surrounding dust and smoke.
Then, to everyone's astonishment, two figures shot out of the rolling clouds like bolts of lightning and soared into the sky.
On closer inspection, they were none other than Goku and Jiren.
At some point, Goku had struck Jiren squarely beneath the chin with his fist. The punch was overwhelmingly powerful, carrying unmatched momentum.
It was the legendary technique:
Rising Dragon Blast of Mount!
BOOM!
Jiren was blasted away like a cannonball, shooting straight towards the upper atmosphere.
Meanwhile, Goku remained standing steadily in mid-air.
Watching Jiren fly away from the force of his attack, a confident smile appeared on Goku's face.
"Heh heh."
This scene was broadcast into Universe 7's spectator room.
Beerus, whose expression was usually as calm as still water, now had a darkened, stormy countenance.
It was clear that his mood had hit rock bottom.
He stared fixedly at Goku, having long since grown fed up with his habit of constantly testing his opponents.
"You damned idiot, Son Goku! Can't you just get it over with already? Do you really have to keep probing and testing him over and over again?!"
Beerus roared through gritted teeth, his voice shaking the room.
"Why not just blast this guy from Universe 11 straight out of the arena with a single punch? Why are you dragging things out like this?!"
As he shouted, he waved his fists furiously, looking as though he wanted to rush onto the battlefield and defeat the opponent himself.
However, just as his anger reached its peak, Whis, who had remained silent until now, suddenly spoke. His eyes shone brightly as he stared intently at the large screen before him and fell into brief contemplation.
After a moment, he slowly turned towards the enraged Beerus.
"Lord Beerus, haven't you noticed that something is rather strange?" Whis asked in a serious tone, giving Beerus a meaningful glance.
Still consumed by anger, Beerus answered without a second thought:
"Hmph! Of course I've noticed something strange! Isn't it obvious? Goku's behaviour is completely abnormal! From the start of the fight, he's been holding back and testing his opponent. I told him to go all out! But he treated my words like they were nothing but wind in his ears! I have no idea what he's thinking. If it were Trunks, he definitely wouldn't cause so much trouble!"
Faced with Beerus's complaints, Whis gently shook his head.
"No, no, Lord Beerus. The anomaly I'm referring to isn't Goku. It's the battle itself. Something about it feels off, and I am also talking about Jiren."
Beerus suppressed the blazing fury in his heart and asked,
"What did you say, Whis?"
Whis remained calm.
"Lord Beerus, don't be so quick to get angry. Try sensing it carefully."
As he spoke, he bowed slightly and gestured for Beerus to do the same. Beerus closed his eyes and focused on sensing the aura emanating from Jiren.
The tension on his face gradually gave way to a deeply solemn expression.
Moments later, Beerus suddenly opened his eyes.
Shock and vigilance filled his gaze.
Taking a deep breath, he slowly said: "This guy's aura... it's carrying the same kind of presence as that person Vegeta encountered before?"
As the thought struck him, Beerus frowned and continued analyzing aloud:
"Could it be that Universe 11 also conducted special training like we did?"
At that moment, he recalled the bold words Vermoud had spoken earlier.
"If that's really the case, then it's entirely possible. Their universe may have put this Jiren through special training as well!"
Whis maintained a solemn expression and simply replied:
"Lord Beerus, I don't think that's quite right. The truth is probably not what you're imagining."
Beerus turned toward him.
"Oh? Then what do you think it is?"
Whis answered: "It's still unclear for now."
"We'll only be able to confirm it a little later."
