The devastating large wound on Marr's chest slowly healed, the bone joining together as new bone cells reattached and formed the framework. Then the muscles and tissue filled in, new blood vessels formed, the capillaries bridged, and finally granulation tissue sealed the damage. This was followed by the formation of the dermis and epidermis, at last covering the skin.
The whole sight took about two minutes. Yet to anyone watching, it had happened with unbelievable speed. Even a standard healer would have taken ten minutes, and by then they would have run out of half their MC. But Quinn had performed the feat in far less time.
Finally, Marr breathed peacefully.
Quinn woke up and said, "Let's give her proper time to rest. And as for you, what was your name? You never told me, I think. You two spend some time together, and we can talk this out properly later. But for now, do you mind giving us outsiders some shelter, a proper meal, and some clothes? I've been standing here shirtless this whole time. I'd like something to wear."
Dan didn't object. He waved his hand for the others to do as Quinn said, while he himself carried Marr in his arms and took her somewhere safe.
Quinn and the others basked in the sunlight, finally breathing fresh air. Their bodies were covered with soot, so the first thing they did was take a proper bath.
At 8 p.m., Quinn found himself in front of the door to a conference room. Just before he reached out and swung the door open, he saw the others waiting there, and he gave them a big smile.
Ray came rushing forward first, followed by the others.
"We need to thank you, Quinn. I am alive only because you decided to come and rescue me. You gave me hope, Quinn, and I will never forget that."
Amy, Michael, and Sarah chimed in.
"We all went against you. We all thought you were mad when you suddenly said you would give us weapons. But somehow, you are the reason we survived this long. Even when Marr turned our instincts against you, you still fought us without harming a single hair on our heads. So we truly thank you, Quinn. We never thought we would have escaped from there."
Erin came next. For the first time in a long while, she gave Quinn a wry smile.
"I'm still upset about my ability... but I can't blame you. The real villain is Truedream. So I think I know what I want to do next. My mission is to find that son of a b*** and beat his ass up. But I'm too weak to do that alone.
I still can't believe this. I saw you had potential when you activated the beast core to its full capacity on that day of bullying. Yet I still don't believe how your watch showed Level 2, and then when we were stranded on this planet, you were the one who broke all odds and fought.
I never expected to see you become this much stronger while I still couldn't do anything more. So Quinn, do you think you can share this power with us too... somehow?
Quinn, I need your strength to find and punish that bastard. I want to grow stronger, and something tells me I can do that if I stick by your side. It's not in my nature... but still, Quinn, I need your help."
"Your power defies all logic," the others said. "Can you teach us too?"
Quinn didn't know what to say. He was at a loss for words after hearing Erin. How could he explain his power? And how would he be able to strengthen them?
Quinn turned to the system.
"Hey, System, how am I supposed to help them?"
The system was quiet for a while, then answered.
"Well... I don't know myself, Quinn. Vampires can turn humans into vampires or other subclasses through a blood ritual. Basically, you give them a drop of blood, and that blood changes the full functional anatomy of that person, turning them into a vampiric creature. But in your case... it should be possible, I think."
Quinn turned back to the others.
"I will look into it, Erin, and all of you. This is new to me too. I need to learn myself why this change is happening to me. Once I get the answer, I will surely tell you.
But I believe our next mission is Truedream. We have to grow powerful enough to face Truedream and his forces. Once we get the opportunity, we will force him to give you all the powers that he stole. That is a promise I give you all."
The others were satisfied with that answer.
That was when Vorden came from the back.
"Well now, that is what a true leader says. You have the qualities of a great leader, Quinn. In fact, you were our leader back on the Red Planet."
Quinn turned his face happily.
"What can I say? I've got the best guys like you... and thanks, Vorden. You risked your life to come through the portal. I could never thank you enough."
As Quinn was about to open the door and go inside, Ray, Erin, and the others called out to him once more.
"Quinn, we have decided... we will follow you from here on. This is our...oath of the five."
