Chapter 653 - The Two Communicating Through Writing

So boring!

Sitting on the bed shoulder to shoulder with Lumine, Miko—whose usual urge had, for once, finally subsided—felt incredibly bored.

Earlier she'd at least been able to indulge herself a little, pairing her fantasies with the movements of her own hands to take the edge off. But now all she had left was the fantasizing—she couldn't even touch either of those two spots.

And with things like this, fantasy alone was simply far too dry.

Sure, she now had Lumine here to keep her company, but neither of them could speak. The two of them could only sit here staring blankly at each other—they couldn't even make out the other's expression.

Stupid Kaito...

Actually putting me in something like this...

Flopping back onto the bed in resignation, Miko silently grumbled at Kaito in her heart.

If only Kaito had satisfied her once before he left—she'd be feeling so much better right now.

Haah...

Right now, apart from Kaito and Lumine beside her...

There's basically no one who could even recognize who I am, is there...

If that Kaito just dumped me outside like this and walked off...

Would anyone even know who I am?

Feels like they'd all just take me for some ordinary monster...

I want to explain, but I can't even open my mouth.

My hands have been wrapped up into these paws too...

I can't even write.

At most I could use these paws to scrawl some crooked words on the ground...

But no one would believe that at all!

Doomed to live like this for the rest of my life...

Lying on the bed, Miko began to imagine what it would be like if Kaito dumped her—in her current state—outside and just left.

And as she thought about it, her hands instinctively reached toward those two spots again, but what came back was still that hard, stiff sensation—nothing at all like the kind of feeling that would make her feel good.

Damn it, damn it!

Stupid Kaito!

Stupid Kaito!

Having come up empty once again, Miko sprang upright from the bed once more, leaving Lumine beside her thoroughly puzzled.

What's wrong with Miko now?

"Mngh, mngh."

Watching Miko, who had lain down only to immediately sit back up, Lumine instinctively wanted to ask why—but all that came out were muffled whimpers, conveying nothing useful at all.

I forgot...

I can't talk right now...

But it seems like I've actually started getting used to the thing in my mouth.

Just then, Lumine suddenly realized she seemed to have already grown accustomed to that thing in her mouth, which left her feeling a little embarrassed.

But no matter how embarrassed she got right now, no one could tell what her expression was anyway.

And it was at that moment she noticed Miko had turned to look at her.

She must have heard the sound I just made...

But even so, there's no way to explain anything right now.

At this moment, in the basement, the two foxes—their entire bodies pitch-black and glinting with light—simply looked at each other without making any move.

I wonder if Lumine wants to say something.

She must be pretty bored too...

Gazing at the black fox across from her that looked exactly like herself, Miko silently mused like this.

Hm?

What's this?

Just then, Miko suddenly spotted something.

Getting up from the bed to take a look, she found it was a pencil, which instantly filled her with delight.

But as she instinctively reached out to pick it up, she discovered that, in her current state, she couldn't grab anything with a single hand at all.

There was no helping it; she had to use both paws together just to barely pinch the pencil up.

After that, clumsily clamping the pencil between her two paws, she wrote three crooked, wobbly words on the wall——So boring!

Where is this Lumine even looking...

Just as Miko wanted Lumine to write something too so they could communicate, she noticed Lumine was staring at another wall, seemingly spacing out.

There was nothing for it; she had to pat Lumine on the shoulder and then point with her other paw at the three words on the wall.

Hm?

So...

boring?

Are these words written by Miko?

Looking at the three crooked, wobbly words on the wall, Lumine was very curious about how Miko had written them.

But soon, she saw that Miko was using her paw to point at something on the bed.

A pencil?

When did that get here?

Looking at that pencil, Lumine was startled.

And it was right then that Miko used her paw to pat Lumine again.

Miko probably wants me to write too so we can communicate...

Thinking this, Lumine—just like Miko had—clamped the pencil between her two paws and wrote the words "Yeah it is" on the wall.

Miko: "..."

At those two words Lumine wrote, Miko kind of wanted to hit someone.

But there was nothing she could do—writing even a single word right now was an absolute pain, so she couldn't be bothered to correct Lumine and tell her to write only useful information.

Then Miko went on to write some more words on the wall——When is Kaito letting you out?

Because writing even one word was so much trouble now, Miko trimmed it down to the bare essentials—as long as the meaning was clear, that was good enough.

She means, when is Kaito letting me out?

He didn't say...

Thinking this, Lumine wrote "Dunno" on the wall, which left Miko speechless again.

This little girl...

Couldn't she just shake her head and be done with it...

Insisting on writing it out...

There was nothing for it; Miko felt she really needed to correct Lumine, so she wrote these words on the wall.

Next time just nod or shake your head!

At that, the moment Lumine finished reading the words Miko had written, she nodded right away.

And while the two of them were here communicating by means of a single pencil, Kaito had already finished settling the matter of getting a house with the Raiden Shogun.

The Raiden Shogun indicated that Kaito could pick any vacant plot he liked and build a house there.

And after receiving this promise from the Raiden Shogun, Kaito made his way to an uninhabited little island to the right of Inazuma City and began his construction journey.

Although there was plenty of vacant land elsewhere too, Kaito still felt the uninhabited little island was the better choice.

But because, when he'd gone to see the Raiden Shogun, Makoto had told him he'd have to come visit sometime, he decided to put a normal house up on the surface and then dig out a basement to set up some not-so-respectable things.

Also, when he saw Makoto, Kaito discovered that the Raiden Shogun had already made a puppet body for Her, so he took the chance to ask the Raiden Shogun about some of the puppet technology.

On this, the Raiden Shogun held nothing back and told him everything regarding the puppet technology.

"Miko." As Kaito stood on the uninhabited island staring at the empty plot before him for a long while, he suddenly called out Miko's name.

And accompanying this single call of his, "Miko" appeared before him.

Of course, the Miko before him was not the real Miko—the real Miko was still down in the basement of the shrine.

This Miko now was a puppet he'd created using the power of the Void Archive together with the technology the Raiden Shogun had imparted to him.

Of course, this puppet had no soul; it was merely being controlled by him.

Forget it...

Let me take this Miko puppet to go scare Miko a bit first...

Because he still didn't have any good ideas, Kaito decided to use this puppet to go tease Miko for fun.
