Alex's car slowed and stopped beneath the canopy of a hotel that took up most of the block. Pale stone climbed several floors above the street, broken by tall windows and a line of gold lighting that followed the curve of the entrance.
Two doormen stood under the canopy in dark uniforms, and a polished drive swept in from the avenue so that arriving cars never had to wait on the road.
This was the Grand Meridian.
The meeting with Raymond Cole was set for five. Alex glanced at the clock on the dash, it read four-thirty. He had come half an hour early on purpose. He wanted the extra time to walk in settled and take the measure of the room.
Alex stayed in the car for a moment after the engine went quiet. He took out his phone and opened Viktor's file again.
