On the sandy ground beside the highway, Ryan continued to convulse unconsciously. Although the flames on his body had been extinguished, half of his body was scorched and carbonized.
Clay lay collapsed beside a sand dune, sparks shooting from the damaged armor, staring intently at the flames, trying to find traces of that monster's existence.
At this moment, the dead silence was broken by the urgent beeping sound.
It was the built-in communicator in Clay's armor; the encrypted channel from the command base was calling frantically.
With trembling mechanical fingers, Clay pressed the connect button.
"Hello!"
"Clay! Ryan! Hank! Where the hell did you three bastards go?
For fuck's sake! I really want to kill you! Those damn people from Dragon Country are about to arrive at the international airport!"
"If the mission fails, expect to face the military tribunal and be completely 'recycled'!"
"Hello... hello! Answer me! Holy shit!!!"
