In reality, Wizards of the Coast not only treats its employees harshly, but it's even harsher on others.
Before Baldur's Gate 3, Wizards itself wasn't at all capable of rebooting the series.
But once Larian made Baldur's Gate 3, Wizards immediately felt it could do it alone.
Dungeons & Dragons is a standard collaborative series, where numerous third-party studios leverage its core rules to create their own adventures, rule books, and even new games for their livelihoods.
This collaboration led to the prosperity of the Dungeons & Dragons series, bringing substantial income to Wizards.
Yet, Wizards wasn't satisfied with this.
Others added content to its series, helping its IP flourish.
Wizards planned to charge creators a staggering 25% royalty fee, along with an additional condition: Wizards could freely use any content created within the Dungeons & Dragons series framework.
This condition was downright shameless.
