Chapter 629 - BRC Chapter 623 Traps and Underground Caves

The dilapidated temple had no entrance, as most of the building was buried underground.

Just as Yang Tao was about to break through the wall, he turned and reached out, grabbing a slender arrow.

Several figures in the distance were rapidly rushing towards him; they were incredibly fast.

Each of them had a physique over three meters tall, well-muscled, with sporadic white patterns on their bronzed skin, and they wore various styles of Wall Masks on their faces.

Whoosh...

The sound of air being torn apart rang out again as a muscular man, while running, drew his longbow and shot an arrow from it.

Seeing this, Yang Tao directly threw the arrow he was holding, and a bursting sound of air being torn apart echoed.

The two arrows grazed past each other.

Yang Tao reached out again and caught an arrow, but the guy opposite him was clearly not so lucky and was directly pierced through the body by the arrow.

However, this kind of injury was not a significant harm for an Entity; the opponent simply got up and continued to charge at him.

After closing the distance, the few opponents quickly split up, surrounding him in a semi-encircling formation, at which point a javelin carrying even more powerful force flew towards him.

"Are they treating me as prey?"

The opponents' attire and facial masks all indicated that they were a group of Entities with tribal habits.

Today, Yang Tao was going to let them know that hunting is dangerous, and the roles of hunter and prey are not so absolute.

He took out the Boltgun from his backpack as a sign of respect.

"Gentlemen, times have changed!"

He pulled the trigger, and a deafening explosion rang out as a bolt, leaving a blur in the air, landed on an Entity.

The powerful explosion blasted a large hole in its body.

The strength of these guys was much greater than that of the Clump.

Bang... Bang... Bang...

One bolt per person.

This five-person hunting party was completely left in this wilderness.

A mask was affected by the explosion, drawing an arc in the air before landing in front of Yang Tao.

He bent down and picked up the mask, which was covered in a lot of blood.

Object 24 - "Wall Mask"

Wall Masks resemble theatrical masks and are usually affixed to walls in certain levels, primarily appearing in Level 0, Level 74, and Level 177. Wall Masks vary in size, but regardless of how suitable they appear to be, once worn, they will conform to the Wanderer's face shape.

"Wall Mask..."

Masks come in various types—Wanderers may sometimes discover multiple masks at once, but depending on their ability to conceal their true nature, they are usually only attracted to one type of mask.

Once a mask is worn, the Wanderer becomes aggressive, indiscriminately attacking other Wanderers and Entities.

"This evil mask seems to be of no use at all."

It does not directly enhance the user's strength but only provides some mental influence and skills.

He directly exchanged it for energy value, then took out the Red Matter Hammer again and directly struck the wall of the temple.

Through the sunlight, Yang Tao also saw the situation inside the broken temple; besides scattered debris and ruins everywhere, there was also a stone spiral staircase leading deep underground.

He leaped down from the entrance and followed the stone staircase deeper; the dark stairwell was utterly silent, with only Yang Tao's own footsteps echoing on the ground.

"If someone timid were here, they'd surely be scared out of their wits, but those who can survive to this level probably have psychological qualities comparable to professional assassins..."

Yang Tao muttered a couple of complaints, dodging a crossbow bolt shot from the wall.

"There are traps too?!"

Looking at the crossbow bolts stuck in the wall and those that fell to the ground due to insufficient impact, Yang Tao was very surprised.

He had never encountered traps in other levels.

If it were an ordinary Wanderer being careless, they would definitely be shot into a porcupine by these traps.

However, this only further piqued Yang Tao's curiosity.

"Even mechanisms have appeared; is there treasure underneath?"

Ordinary Wanderers probably wouldn't even have the ability to break through this strange building. He continued down the stairs, and along the way, the variety of mechanisms was dazzling, and most importantly, there were even 'magic' type traps.

Jumping down the last step, Yang Tao, like a bulldozer, triggered all the traps he could along the way.

"Finally, I'm down, damn it! This must be thousands of meters underground!"

The bottom of the stairs was a not-too-large room, furnished with ordinary wooden tables and some scattered miscellaneous items, with several masks hanging on the walls.

Besides that, there were also the unique supply crates of the Backrooms.

He walked over and opened the supply crate: Almond water, biscuits, and a pair of ordinary gloves.

"..."

That's it?

Yang Tao took a deep breath and comforted himself internally: 'Don't rush, there's another door over there, maybe there's something in the other rooms...'

He stuffed everything he could take from the room into his backpack, took down the masks from the wall, and then walked towards the dark corridor not far away.

After Yang Tao walked in, he realized that what was called a corridor was actually an extremely primitive cave tunnel.

The tunnel walls had many gems of various colors; this was a gem mine.

Seeing this, Yang Tao's face broke into a smile.

"So the treasure is on this path!"

He reached out and pried off a fist-sized blue gem from the wall; with his current formidable physical condition, the stone wall was barely stronger than tofu.

He collected gems larger than his fist along the way.

A small, completely black snake was hiding in the corner of the mine, occasionally flicking its tongue to scout its surroundings, and soon it locked onto Yang Tao, the uninvited guest.

Its slender body slightly arched; it was ready to attack.

"Oh my goodness, this one must be the size of a basketball, right? I wonder if Jean likes shiny things? The Ender Dragon is also a dragon, so she should like them..."

He tossed the gem into his backpack.

Continuing forward, no sooner said than done, a small snake opened its gaping maw and lunged to bite his ankle.

He bent down, reached out, and precisely pinched the snake's head, then gripped the area behind the snake's head with his other hand and forcefully stroked it.

Accompanied by a faint sound of bones dislocating, the entire snake instantly became paralyzed.

At this moment, Yang Tao's surprised voice rang out: "A snake?"

A small blue knife appeared in his hand, and with practiced ease, he cut off the snake's head and stomped on it. A snake's venom glands are located on either side of its head, behind the eyes, and above the corners of its mouth, so under no circumstances should one eat a snake's head.

He cleaned the snake's body and tossed it into his backpack, then dug a puddle to wash his hands.

"I'll taste it later..."

Snakes have many parasites; before his transmigration, Yang Tao would not have eaten such random things, but now he is basically immune to all poisons.

Plus, with the descriptive entries, he could tell at a glance if there was anything wrong.
