Chapter 138 - The Warden’s Dilemma

The transport back from the installation was quiet.

The specific quiet of six people who had seen something significant and were processing it at different speeds and had collectively decided that the transport was not the place to process it out loud.

Zeph looked out the window the entire journey. CV on his shoulder, equally still.

When they reached Northern Bastion, he told Tank he needed the evening. Tank looked at him for exactly two seconds—the full assessment—and said "tomorrow morning".

He didn't bother pushing further. He already knew the shape of it. That was enough.

"We are all here for you…always remember that". Tank said before departing.

He knocked on Sarah's door at seven.
