Putting an elephant in a refrigerator can be done in three steps, but killing an Orochi? That looked like it would take eight.
Better to break a single finger than injure all ten. One head after another smashed down—there was no doubt Orochi would die. If it could just grow a new head for each one destroyed, Allen would have immediately taken the fox and run, leaving others to handle it.
Fortunately, things didn't go that badly—though his original plan had failed.
If the initial vines had worked as intended, there would have been no question: Orochi would have been completely dealt with. Other people's Wood Release might turn a Nine-Tailed Fox into a mere ping-pong ball, but Allen's magic, while not Wood Release, still left Orochi with one less tail.
The fox, eager to dodge, sneezed and barely avoided the next fireball. Losing a head had driven Orochi into near-madness—it was now almost uncontrollably thrashing across the battlefield.
"Hey, Allen, I think we pissed it off. Shouldn't we run?" the fox shouted while dodging.
"No—this is just the start. There's no way it can keep spitting out this many spells constantly; otherwise, how could it have been defeated?" Allen replied, blocking an unavoidable fireball with a shield while launching a spell straight at Orochi's eyes. With so many targets, it was an easy shot.
The spell worked perfectly. Orochi shuddered violently; after all, eyes are a critical weak point for most creatures. The barrage of magical attacks that should have continued was forced to stop. The snake regained focus: thirteen massive eyes stared at Allen, while the final one had become a bloody crater. Allen's full-strength spell wasn't easy to endure, especially after such careful aiming.
Sensing something was wrong, Allen rolled awkwardly to the left and cast another spell. This time, Orochi easily dodged with a simple head turn—a major flaw of traditional single-target spells: they're easy to avoid.
======
Out of the corner of his eye, Allen noticed frost spreading across the ground where he had just been. Crack… crack… The stones shattered. Clearly, the area had been hit by an invisible magical strike—a freeze that was far beyond ordinary cold.
Judging by Orochi's slightly slower reaction, the attack had exhausted a significant portion of its energy. This wasn't the sort of ability that could be casually spammed—it required serious effort. Far more disciplined than the "snake monster kills anyone it looks at" unlimited-move nonsense.
As the attacks briefly subsided, the fox sent several spells flying, hoping to help. Unfortunately, none hit. Instead, they drew Orochi's attention, and seven massive fireballs formed and barreled toward her.
Half-human-sized, the fireballs left no space for dodging. Reluctantly, the fox's magical orb surfaced, transporting her to the other side of the battlefield. This enraged Orochi, which immediately launched the next attack without pause. Anyone would be furious—the orb was made from part of Orochi's body, and even fully refined by the fox, the original owner recognized it.
As the fox teleported a second time and Orochi readied a third strike, a gargantuan figure—three to four human-heights tall, covered in flowers and plants—hugged Orochi's waist like a lover. The magic canceled the fireball, the ground heaved violently, and BOOM! the giant exploded.
Not only did it interrupt Orochi's attack, it tore open the snake's waist, forcibly pulling most of its body out of the seal—the worst possible scenario for Orochi.
The exposed tail was battered and even broken, but that wasn't the worst wound.
At Orochi's most vital support point, a massive, pulsating wound oozing magma-colored blood revealed what was likely a missing section of its crucial spine—right around the hall's outer edge. Not everything regenerates once lost; the sword-material used here was one-time only. Even now, Orochi hasn't regrown it. This was excellent news for Allen—they were now facing a wounded opponent, with obvious weak points ready to exploit.
The next instant, a colossal rock shot from beneath, impaling the ancient wound. Too fast to dodge, Orochi was pierced.
Screeeech!
A terrible wail echoed through the area as the remaining heads trembled, sending countless stones flying like missiles.
Despite the onslaught, Allen whistled, blocking every attack for himself and the fox—single-handedly.
His other hand didn't pause either. Waving his wand, he gathered gray sand into spearmen targeting the snake's neck. Blood holes formed as the spears struck. Before Orochi could retaliate, the spears disintegrated into sand, forming an immense, impenetrable wall that slammed into its body.
The impact pushed Orochi several meters, but that wasn't the worst. The wall's embedded spears tore into already-damaged heads, widening the wounds.
Three massive heads, drenched in blood, fell effortlessly. The ground became a crimson lake.
Who said you have to go one by one? Too much hassle.
