Chapter 27 - Chapter 27

Indianna thought back to what Brooke said and Greyson rolled his eyes, reading Indianna's mind. "I don't belong to someone, Greyson."

"But you do," he shrugged. "I'm your mate and you are mine. Brooklyn still struggles to accept what mates are, even after a year."

"She doesn't want to be owned. Neither do I."

"You're not a fucking pet, sugar," Greyson said. "She is Harry's mate and you are mine. Simple as that."

"Whatever," Indianna muttered and closed her locker, slamming it with more force than intended.

"Jheeze," Greyson muttered. "What did the locker do to you?"

"I didn't mean to slam it," she shrugged and looked at her timetable to see what lesson she had next.

"We have History," Greyson said.

"Let's go then."

Indianna stared blankly at the teacher and yawned. She had been listening to the teacher drone on about the Russian Revolution for half an hour and could no longer concentrate. Boredom had set in.

"Indie," Greyson said lowly, "can you stop that?" He looked at Indianna who was drumming a pen against the desk. "It's irritating."

Indianna smiled. "Good." Suddenly the pen snapped in two and Indianna jumped slightly, staring at the broken pen on the desk. "I wasn't hitting it that hard."

Greyson frowned but didn't say anything, he just flicked the broken pen off the desk and onto the floor. "I think you might need a new pen."

"Indie, hun, how are you feeling?" Brooke asked, hugging Indianna in the next lesson.

"Better, thanks."

"You poor thing, I can't imagine how horrible this must be for you."

"It sucks," Indianna admitted. "How are you and Harry?"

Brooke sighed and shrugged. "He's an ass, like usual; I deal with it, like usual."

"Are you happy with him?" Indianna wondered. "Truly happy?"

Brooke frowned. "We argue and fight, but yes I am happy with him. I love him."

Indianna's phone vibrated in her pocket and she looked at the text.

How cute. I think I might shed a tear.

Indianna looked out of the window and her heart started to beat faster. She hated the idea of someone watching her. She hated the idea that someone could see what she was doing and saying but she couldn't see them.

Don't ignore me, Indianna. It would be highly rude.

-R

What do you want?

The better question would be: what don't I want?

-R

What don't you want, then?

I don't want your stupid mate to breathe another fucking breath, but we don't always get what we want straight away.

-R

What has Greyson done to you?

Indianna started to worry and she chewed her lip nervously. She didn't want anything to happen to Greyson.

First of all, he has you. He has what I want.

-R

Indianna's eyes widened slightly and she shoved her phone back into her pocket just as Greyson walked into the classroom with Ace, Kal and Harry. They sat on the desks behind Indianna and Brooke and Indianna felt a little bit at ease knowing Greyson was there. His presence settled the nerves in her stomach.

"How about you and Greyson?" Brooke wondered. "Are you happy with him?"

"I..." Indianna frowned.

"Greyson is currently seated right behind you," Greyson said. "I would watch what you say here, sugar."

"He's an ass," Indianna said.

"I'm hurt," he called.

"He's annoying."

"Thanks, sugar."

"And he has to have his own way all the bloody time."

"You know me so well."

"But," Indianna sighed, "I can't control the way he makes me feel."

"Happy?" Brooke wondered.

"Yes," Indianna nodded, "but also, safe."

'I am pretty amazing if I do say so myself.'

'Thanks for killing the mood.'

'You're very welcome.'
