The Abyss had spent the last several days abandoning outer structures, transferring burden inward, and sacrificing infrastructure behind its withdrawing forces. The movement was now concentrating rather than continuing indefinitely. Troops, formation crews, surviving control systems, and pressure from multiple outer complexes were all converging on the same inner region.
Tianlan arrived at that conclusion independently from the north-eastern route.
He looked at the concentration of tracks and pressure ahead and told his officers that the next position would not behave like another retreating complex. The formation crews they had just captured had been carrying portable controls inward because someone ahead still intended to use them. He ordered the legion to reorganize for an assault rather than continue marching as a pursuit column.
Shuyue gave the same instruction in the east after Xuanyin's consolidated report reached her.
Her force had fewer intact local network structures left to follow, so Celestara and Umbrel took the lead while Veridian Prime identified stable approaches through the damaged terrain. Yanfei moved with the technical groups rather than the front line, because the next operation would likely require the same material awareness if the Abyss had incorporated sacrificial supports into its inner defenses. The eastern legion turned north-west toward the convergence point instead of continuing along the ruins of the destroyed complex.
The three armies could not physically reunite before nightfall.
Their command structures reunited first.
Xuanyin established a common operational map using the northern spatial record, Tianlan's captured junction, and the eastern routing sequence, correcting the differences between them until the three approaches could be placed around one target. Blue Sphere commanders on every front received the same updated terrain and pressure picture even while their formations remained miles apart.
The next structure sat in a vast sunken basin formed around an old Blue Sphere mountain chain.
Three major receiving corridors entered from north, north-east, and east, matching the routes the coalition armies were already following. Within the basin, pressure gathered around several smaller but denser structures rather than spreading through another wide field of outer nodes. Celestara reconnaissance could see troops reinforcing the approaches, while Umbrel reports indicated active construction and redistribution instead of evacuation.
Xuanyin studied the first incomplete map with Haotian still connected from the northern route.
"They stopped running."
Haotian followed the inward pressure. "They stopped dismantling."
Tianlan's voice entered the same command formation a moment later. "They are moving more troops into the basin from the west."
Shuyue reported additional movement from the east.
Xuanyin began assigning approach boundaries before anyone reached the position itself.
Haotian's force would continue from the north, Tianlan's legion would enter from the north-east, and Shuyue and Yanfei would approach from the east. The armies would not wait to combine into one physical mass before applying pressure because doing so would give the Abyss more time to reinforce whichever route they chose. They would instead reach the basin from their existing directions while Xuanyin maintained the common command picture between them.
The reverse pressure wave had damaged equipment across all three forces, so none moved immediately at full speed.
Blue Sphere replaced cracked receiving plates, Marephoros rotated cultivators who had absorbed the worst surges, and Veridian Prime checked the legs of the pursuit routes before supply formations followed. Pyrelith used the pause to destroy isolated hostile structures already confirmed disconnected from the deeper network. The reorganization happened while scouts continued moving ahead rather than after the armies stopped completely.
Haotian allowed the Dao Palace of the Universe to settle once the deeper direction had been recorded securely.
His northern force no longer needed him maintaining every remaining spatial relationship behind them, because those routes had already served their purpose. The surviving connections ahead converged naturally toward the inner basin and carried more pressure than the dying outer structures. He could feel the difference even without extending his perception deeply: the network ahead was being strengthened rather than emptied.
Tianlan looked toward the darkening northern ridges while the two healthy Falcons rested near the legion's command position.
The north-eastern force had completed its pursuit without Haotian, identified the specialist deception, preserved the important junction through the reverse wave, and captured enough routing information to continue. He did not dwell on that accomplishment because fresh Celestara reports were already showing stronger defensive formations ahead. When one of his officers asked whether they should expect another retreat once the basin came under pressure, Tianlan answered, "Prepare for them to hold it. If they choose to withdraw later, we adjust then."
In the east, Yanfei packed the surviving routing fragments before joining Shuyue near the forward map.
The destroyed complex behind them still produced occasional collapses as damaged supports settled, but no useful pressure remained inside it. Shuyue looked toward the route that would take them northwest and asked whether Yanfei's arm had been burned when one of the housings failed. Yanfei flexed the hand and said the heat had reached her sleeve but not the skin badly enough to matter, which satisfied Shuyue only after a healer checked it anyway.
Xuanyin received the final scouting report after night had begun settling over the mountain basin.
Umbrel had reached the outer edge of the next position and found no empty control chambers, no stripped formation plates, and no demolition teams waiting to destroy the approaches after withdrawal. Instead, the conduits were active, the defensive routes were occupied, and additional burden was still entering from the remnants of the contracting network. Celestara confirmed that demonic troops were assembling inside the basin in numbers greater than any of the retreating columns the three armies had pursued during the day.
Haotian examined the pressure relationship once more.
The three routes they had followed converged into the same inner system, and the surviving outer network was feeding toward it from directions the coalition had not personally attacked. The Abyss had sacrificed distance and redundancy to preserve a denser core around the path leading toward the Main Rift. Whatever remained beyond the basin now depended on fewer structures carrying more pressure and defended by troops who were no longer being ordered to withdraw.
Xuanyin sent the updated map to all three armies and ordered the forward scouts to observe without entering the basin before the main formations reached supporting distance. Haotian continued north, Tianlan turned his legion toward the north-eastern approach, and Shuyue and Yanfei began moving northwest through the last stretch of broken terrain. Their physical formations remained separated, but every surviving network record now pointed all three toward the same reinforced inner junction.
