Chapter 62 - Dead Stop

BEN 10: ULTIMATE ALIEN

"Dead Stop"

A Fan-Made Episode Script — Written in the style of Dwayne McDuffie

COLD OPEN

EXT. BELLWOOD — CENTRAL PLAZA — DAY

Lunch hour. The plaza is full — food carts, office workers, pigeons doing pigeon things. A fountain in the center catches the sun. Ordinary in every direction.

Then the air tears.

Not a sound. Not a flash. Just a clean, geometric rip in the fabric of the plaza's afternoon, like someone cut it with a straight edge — and through the cut, for exactly three seconds, the copper-and-black landscape of the Null Void is visible.

EON steps through.

Dark. Composed. Moving like someone who arrived on time to something he scheduled.

EON

(scanning the plaza, mildly)

Bellwood. As provincial as ever.

He raises one hand. The portal behind him widens.

Something steps out of it.

VELOCITY.

Lean. Dark navy armor-like skin, smooth and jointless at a glance, like it grew rather than was built. Glowing cyan energy lines running in clean channels along his arms, legs, torso — not decorating him, routing him, like circuitry carrying something important. Long digitigrade legs that redistribute his weight forward, built for acceleration. No mouth. Two glowing blue eyes, flat and still.

He doesn't look at the screaming crowd.

He looks at one thing.

The Plumber emergency beacon mounted on the plaza's east wall.

He raises one hand.

Slowly.

The beacon's light — which was already blinking — slows. Blinks slower. Slower. Stops.

Mid-blink.

EON

(to Velocity, quietly)

The watch comes to you. It always does.

Velocity says nothing.

He simply waits.

EON (CONT'D)

(stepping back toward the portal)

Try not to destroy the city. It's gauche.

He steps back through. The portal closes.

Velocity stands alone in the emptying plaza.

Still.

Waiting.

INT. BEN'S CAR — MOVING — SIMULTANEOUS

BEN TENNYSON, driving, hears the Plumber alert on his wrist comm cut off mid-tone.

He looks at it.

BEN

(frowning)

Grandpa?

Static.

BEN (CONT'D)

(to himself)

That's never good.

He turns toward the plaza.

ACT ONE

EXT. BELLWOOD — CENTRAL PLAZA — MOMENTS LATER

Ben parks, gets out, and finds the plaza frozen.

Not metaphorically.

A pigeon hangs mid-flight, wings out, going nowhere.

A hot dog cart's steam sits in the air like sculpture.

Three people mid-sprint for the exit are locked at full stride, feet off the ground.

Ben walks through it slowly, looking at each frozen thing.

BEN

(quiet)

Okay. This is new.

Velocity stands at the center of it all, watching Ben approach, those blue eyes tracking him without the rest of his body moving at all.

BEN (CONT'D)

(stopping ten feet away)

Eon's work?

VELOCITY

(voice precise, unhurried, no emotion in it)

The portal was his. The rest is mine.

BEN

(looking at the frozen pigeon)

You stopped all of this.

VELOCITY

I absorbed the kinetic energy. Everything moving — stops. Eventually.

He tilts his head slightly.

VELOCITY (CONT'D)

The watch. Place it on the ground. Walk away.

BEN

(looks at him for a beat)

No.

VELOCITY

(no change in expression)

Then we begin.

Ben slaps the Ultimatrix.

[TRANSFORMATION SEQUENCE]

Green flash. FASTTRACK lands in a ready stance, armor gleaming, wheels at his heels already spinning.

BEN (AS FASTTRACK)

(sharp, focused)

Fasttrack. Alright. You absorb kinetic energy — let's see how much you can handle.

He launches.

Fasttrack hits his first gear in half a second — the plaza a blur, Velocity a fixed point he's circling at high velocity, generating approach angles.

He makes his first pass.

Velocity raises one hand.

A cyan pulse, barely visible, radiates outward from his palm.

Fasttrack slows.

Not stops. Just — less. Like running through air that got slightly thicker.

FASTTRACK

(noticing)

Okay. He's — that's immediate. He's already pulling from me.

He accelerates, trying to outpace the drain.

Velocity's cyan lines pulse brighter.

Fasttrack slows more.

FASTTRACK (CONT'D)

(grim)

The faster I go, the more he takes.

He stops.

Stands still.

Thinks.

The frozen pigeon beside him hasn't moved.

FASTTRACK (CONT'D)

(very quietly)

He stopped that pigeon because it was moving. He stopped the steam because it was rising. He stopped those people because they were running.

He looks at Velocity.

FASTTRACK (CONT'D)

Everything moving is food for him.

VELOCITY

(across the plaza, still absolutely still)

You understand faster than most.

FASTTRACK

(dry)

Is that a compliment?

VELOCITY

It's an observation.

ACT TWO

Fasttrack tries a different approach — not speed, not a direct charge, but short bursts. Dart in, hit once, dart back before the drain can fully register.

First burst — connects — Velocity absorbs the momentum of the strike itself, barely moves.

Second burst — Velocity anticipates the angle, and the moment Fasttrack's foot touches the ground for the acceleration, the cyan field drinks the push.

Fasttrack stumbles.

His legs feel wrong. Heavy.

FASTTRACK

(catching himself)

He's not just pulling from the running. He's pulling from the ground contact. Every step I take—

VELOCITY

(walking toward him, slowly, deliberately)

—feeds me.

He's not running to close the distance. He's walking.

Because he doesn't need to run.

VELOCITY (CONT'D)

The faster you move, the more energy I absorb. The more I absorb, the slower you become. The slower you become—

FASTTRACK

(finishing, jaw tight)

—the easier it is for you to walk over here and take the watch.

VELOCITY

(simply)

Yes.

He keeps walking.

Fasttrack, legs heavy now, tries to launch again — a short burst, not speed but power — and it's like running underwater.

Three steps.

He stops.

Breathing hard.

Looking at his own hands.

FASTTRACK

(quiet, internal)

Every time I use the speed — he gets stronger and I get slower. That's the loop. That's the trap.

(beat)

He didn't come here to fight me. He came here to drain me. There's a difference.

He looks up at Velocity, now fifteen feet away and closing.

FASTTRACK (CONT'D)

(realization, sharp)

He's never going to run. Never going to fight. He's just going to walk toward me, steady and slow, while I get weaker every time I try to move fast enough to stop him.

Ten feet.

FASTTRACK (CONT'D)

The only winning move against someone who steals speed...

He looks at the Ultimatrix. Flickering.

FASTTRACK (CONT'D)

...is to generate it faster than he can take it.

He slaps the symbol.

[ULTIMATE TRANSFORMATION SEQUENCE]

The symbol SNAPS open.

Fasttrack's frame doesn't bulk. Doesn't armor up. It changes at the cellular level — the stabilizer fins along his arms and legs reconfigure into something denser, more complex, not for aerodynamics but for generation. His body reorganizes itself into a kinetic engine rather than a kinetic vehicle.

The cyan lines along Velocity's body pulse eagerly — sensing the energy output—

And then they flare in overload.

Too much.

Too fast.

Ultimate Fasttrack is generating kinetic energy faster than Velocity's channels can route it. The cyan lines flicker and spike, Velocity taking a single step backward for the first time in this entire episode.

Ultimate Fasttrack's eyes burn white.

BEN (AS ULTIMATE FASTTRACK)

(low, controlled, like someone who found the engine under the engine)

Ultimate Fasttrack.

VELOCITY

(studying him, recalculating — the first real reaction he's shown)

You're not running.

ULTIMATE FASTTRACK

(steady)

Nope.

VELOCITY

You're generating without moving.

ULTIMATE FASTTRACK

(quiet)

The base form runs fast. This form is fast. There's a difference.

(beat)

You drain movement. I'm not moving. I'm just — producing.

He takes one step forward.

A wave of kinetic energy radiates outward from that single step — not a shockwave, not a blast, just raw kinetic force bleeding off his frame like heat off an engine.

The frozen pigeon twitches.

The steam from the hot dog cart stirs.

The people mid-stride rock forward slightly.

Velocity absorbs it all — but his cyan lines are visibly overloading, flickering with excess, channels not built to handle this volume this fast.

VELOCITY

(taking another step back, the first real urgency entering his voice)

Speed belongs to whoever controls it.

ULTIMATE FASTTRACK

(another step forward)

Yeah. I've heard that. Here's the thing about control —

He steps forward again.

The kinetic overflow from two steps in succession hits Velocity like a wave.

ULTIMATE FASTTRACK (CONT'D)

You can't control what you can't contain.

ACT THREE

Velocity raises both hands — full absorption field, maximum output, trying to drink everything Ultimate Fasttrack is producing before it overloads him.

It doesn't work.

Ultimate Fasttrack isn't running anymore — he's walking, each step deliberate, each footfall generating the kind of kinetic output that Velocity's entire power set was built to steal from fast-moving targets.

He wasn't built for a source.

He was built for runners.

VELOCITY

(both hands up, visibly straining, cyan lines white-hot with overload)

Stop. Moving.

ULTIMATE FASTTRACK

(one more step)

That's the problem with stealing speed, Velocity.

One more step.

Velocity's lines spike — flare — and for the first time, he stumbles, legs buckling under the kinetic overload running back through his own channels.

ULTIMATE FASTTRACK (CONT'D)

You need someone running away from you.

He closes the distance in two final steps — not a charge, not a sprint, just walking, each step precise and overwhelming — and places one hand flat against Velocity's chest.

The direct contact dumps the remaining kinetic energy directly into Velocity's absorption field at point-blank range.

Velocity's cyan lines go solid white.

Then dark.

He goes down — not explosively, not dramatically. He simply folds, legs giving out, landing on one knee, both hands on the ground.

Still.

The plaza around them exhales.

The pigeon completes its wingbeat.

The hot dog cart's steam rises again.

The mid-sprint people stumble forward, confused, suddenly back in motion, looking around.

VELOCITY

(on one knee, quiet, spent)

You didn't run.

ULTIMATE FASTTRACK

(standing over him)

Nope.

VELOCITY

(processing)

Everything I trained against — runs. Every target — runs.

ULTIMATE FASTTRACK

(quietly)

I know.

A beat.

VELOCITY

(genuinely — the only genuine thing he's said all episode)

I did not account for that.

ULTIMATE FASTTRACK

(simple)

Nobody ever accounts for standing still.

Plumber containment vehicles round the plaza entrance — alerted when the kinetic field dropped and comms came back online.

Ultimate Fasttrack reverts — green flash — and Ben stands there, the plaza coming fully back to life around him, people scrambling, pigeons scattering, a perfectly normal afternoon resuming like nothing happened.

Velocity doesn't resist as the containment team approaches.

He just looks at Ben one final time.

VELOCITY

(flat, honest)

Eon will send someone else.

BEN

(brushing dust off his jacket)

He usually does.

He watches the team secure Velocity.

Then he looks up at the spot in the air where the portal was.

Nothing there.

Just afternoon.

TAG SCENE

EXT. BELLWOOD — CENTRAL PLAZA — LATER

The plaza's cleared. Containment teams gone. The fountain is running again, catching the sun the same way it was an hour ago.

Ben sits on its edge.

The frozen pigeon — now fully unfrozen — sits next to him on the fountain wall, completely unbothered.

Ben looks at it.

BEN

(to the pigeon)

You had a weird afternoon.

The pigeon does not respond.

Ben looks at the Ultimatrix.

BEN (CONT'D)

(quiet, to himself)

Eon's moving. Whatever he wants — he wants it badly enough to pull something out of the Null Void and point it at me in the middle of a Tuesday.

He stands.

BEN (CONT'D)

(to the pigeon)

That's not great.

The pigeon flies away.

Ben watches it go.

Then walks.

FADE TO BLACK.
