SERIES: Ben 10: Ultimate Alien
EPISODE TITLE: Dead Signal
GENRE: Action / Sci-Fi / Mystery
LOGLINE: A decommissioned Plumber satellite sends one final transmission — and what it broadcasts turns every electronic device on Earth into a weapon aimed at Ben Tennyson.
COLD OPEN — 0:00
EXT. EARTH ORBIT — NIGHT
A dead satellite tumbles slowly through low orbit. Rust-brown. Panels cracked. Plumber insignia faded to almost nothing. It's been dark for six years.
Then — one antenna twitches.
A single LED blinks red. Once. Twice. Three times.
And then the satellite screams — broadcasting a signal so powerful it scorches the ionosphere on its way down.
CUT TO:
INT. TENNYSON HOUSE — BEDROOM — 2:48 AM
Ben jolts awake. Every screen in his room — phone, laptop, TV, alarm clock — displays the same image simultaneously.
A green hourglass. His hourglass. The Ultimatrix symbol.
But it's upside down.
The screens go black. Ben stares. Then his Ultimatrix vibrates once — hard, like a fist knocked on a door from the inside.
BEN:
(to himself, wide-eyed)
"Okay. That's new."
THE VILLAIN
SIGNAL-ZERO / COMMANDANT VREX ODALON
Species: Technocyte — a parasitic electromagnetic consciousness that abandoned its physical body voluntarily to exist as pure broadcast signal.
Origin: Vrex Odalon was a Plumber Commandant dishonorably discharged eleven years ago after he attempted to install a planetary override network — a system that would let him remotely control every electronic device on Earth "for protection." The Plumbers dismantled the network, wiped his base codes, and left his satellite in orbit as a monument to what happens when authority goes unchecked.
What they didn't know: Odalon had already uploaded his consciousness into the satellite's core before they cut power. He's been orbiting Earth for six years, watching, waiting, learning every frequency, every signal, every electromagnetic wavelength the planet uses.
His Plan: Broadcast the Override Pulse — a signal that rewrites the firmware of every electronic device on Earth simultaneously, turning them all into relay nodes for his consciousness. He won't possess people. He'll possess everything around people. Cars. Hospitals. Power grids. Traffic systems. Water treatment. He'll control the infrastructure of civilization itself, and humanity will have no choice but to negotiate on his terms.
His Weakness: He is a signal. Signals can be jammed. But to jam a signal powerful enough to cover an entire planet, you need a source just as powerful — and it has to broadcast from the exact frequency of the Ultimatrix's own electromagnetic signature.
In other words: Ben has to let Odalon in.
ACT ONE — THE SETUP
EXT. BELLWOOD — MORNING
INT. MR. SMOOTHY — CONTINUOUS
Ben, Gwen, and Kevin sit across from each other. Ben has dark circles. He's shown them the footage he recorded on his phone of the screens — but the footage is corrupted. Static. Like the signal erased itself.
KEVIN:
"Haunted satellite. Sure. Right after the haunted watch, too. What is it with you and possessed technology?"
GWEN:
"It's not possession. The signal structure Azmuth flagged in the Plumber alert this morning — it's organized. Deliberate. Someone is broadcasting an extremely complex waveform from low orbit and targeting it at anything that reads an Ultimatrix signature."
BEN:
"So it's targeting me."
GWEN:
"It's studying you. There's a difference. For now."
A Plumber alert fires on all three badges simultaneously. Downtown Bellwood. Massive electromagnetic surge. Traffic system overridden — cars driving themselves into intersections. Stoplights cycling wrong. A city bus accelerating with no driver.
They run.
ACT TWO — THE BATTLE
EXT. BELLWOOD — DOWNTOWN INTERSECTION — CONTINUOUS
Six-car pileup in slow motion. A delivery truck jackknifed across the main bridge. The bus — full of passengers — heading for the waterfront at 60 mph with locked brakes.
Ben doesn't hesitate.
🟢 TRANSFORMATION 01 — FASTTRACK
Species: Citrakayah
Powers: Mach-speed movement · Agility · Wall-running · Kinetic momentum strikes
Ben slams the dial. Green light tears upward — Fasttrack erupts from the flash, lean and feline, claws sparking on asphalt as he hits 200 mph in two seconds flat.
He reaches the bus in four seconds. Runs alongside it, matches speed, rips the front axle housing with both hands and drags — friction-braking it with his own body weight and grip against the road surface. Sparks. Screeching. The bus slows, shudders, and stops six feet from the waterfront railing.
Passengers shaken but safe. Ben reverts.
BEN:
"Okay. One bus. How many more — "
Every traffic light on the block goes dark. Then they all flip green simultaneously. Cars begin moving on their own — not crashing. Organizing. Forming a wall around Ben, Kevin, and Gwen. A perfect electronic perimeter.
A voice comes from every car speaker, every phone within range, every open laptop in the coffee shop behind them:
ODALON (from all speakers at once, layered and vast):
"Benjamin Tennyson. I've been watching you transform for six years from 400 kilometers up. I know every alien in that device. I know how long each form lasts, what triggers the reversion, what the Ultimatrix sounds like when it overheats. I am not here to fight you. I am here to show you that fighting me is not an option."
KEVIN:
"Cool speech. Who are you?"
ODALON:
"The man who used to protect this planet. Before the Plumbers decided protection was too expensive."
The car wall tightens. Bumper to bumper. No gaps.
BEN:
"You're blocking a road. I've stopped worse before lunch."
🟢 TRANSFORMATION 02 — TERRASPIN
Species: Geochelone Aerio
Powers: Hurricane-force wind generation · Vacuum field · Complete immunity to energy and mana attacks · Flight
Ben transforms — Terraspin, turtle-like, hollow-bodied, propeller limbs spinning up instantly. He generates a localized hurricane inside the car wall — vehicles lifted and pushed outward like toys, clearing a 40-foot radius in three seconds. Clean. No damage to the cars, no injuries.
Then Odalon overrides the vehicles mid-air. They stop — suspended at the peak of the wind blast — and begin using their own engines as thrusters, fighting Terraspin's air pressure with mechanical force. Six cars hovering on their own power, engines screaming, holding their positions against a hurricane.
GWEN:
(shielding her face from the wind)
"He's adapting in real time. He controlled those cars WHILE they were airborne!"
Ben reverts. Cars drop safely — Odalon lets them. Deliberate. He could have crashed them. He didn't.
ODALON:
"I'm not trying to hurt anyone. I never was. I just need everyone to understand who's actually in charge of keeping this world safe."
BEN:
"Nobody who's actually in charge needs to prove it this hard."
EXT. BELLWOOD — INDUSTRIAL DISTRICT — LATER
The Plumber alert escalates. Odalon has taken control of the city's power grid substations — not to black out the city. To talk through them. Every substation in Bellwood is now broadcasting his signal outward, amplifying the range. In two hours, he'll have enough relay nodes to reach coast-to-coast.
Kevin traces the source. Rooftop relay dish on the old Hendricks Tower — Odalon installed a physical antenna array there remotely through the building's own automated maintenance drones. Three years ago. He's been planning this for three years.
They go up.
🟢 TRANSFORMATION 03 — LODESTAR
Species: Biosovortian
Powers: Magnetic mastery · Electromagnetic field control · Levitation · Metal repulsion/attraction
Lodestar. Floating core body, magnetic shell spiked and humming. Ben reaches the rooftop array and begins dismantling it magnetically — pulling antenna segments apart piece by piece, unbolting relays without touching them, efficiently and fast.
For 11 seconds it works perfectly.
Then Odalon runs current through the antenna array. The metal becomes live. Lodestar's magnetic control inverts — the array elements pull toward him instead of away, slamming together around his arms, locking them.
LODESTAR / BEN:
"Oh come ON — he electrified it — "
KEVIN:
(already climbing a service ladder)
"On it."
Kevin absorbs the rooftop's steel decking — grounds himself — grabs the antenna array with bare hands and rips it from its mount while the current runs through him harmlessly. He tosses it off the roof. Odalon's relay node goes dark.
But there are eleven more substations. And the two hours are now 90 minutes.
🟢 TRANSFORMATION 04 — JURY RIGG
Species: Planchaküle
Powers: Mechanical genius · Instant deconstruction and reconstruction of any device · Intuitive technology interface
Ben's idea: if Odalon uses electronics as relay nodes, build something that makes electronics useless to him. A localized EMP device — but targeted, surgical, only affecting Odalon's broadcast frequency.
He transforms into Jury Rigg — tiny, sharp-toothed, immediately delighted by the pile of stripped antenna components Kevin just threw at his feet.
In 40 seconds of frantic, laughing, crackling construction — parts flying, sparks everywhere, Kevin trying to keep Gwen from getting hit by flying circuit boards — Jury Rigg assembles a frequency-locked pulse emitter from the deconstructed relay array, three parts from Kevin's car, and Gwen's phone charger.
JURY RIGG / BEN:
(holding up the device, grinning wildly)
"DONE! It's done! It's SO done — "
He fires it. The pulse hits the nearest substation. The relay node goes quiet.
Then Odalon broadcasts through the device itself — he's already learned its frequency, rewritten its firmware mid-air, turned it around.
The pulse emitter fires back at Ben. He drops it. Reverts. The device sparks and dies.
ODALON:
"You built that in 40 seconds. Impressive. I've been building my network for three years. The gap between us is not one you can close with cleverness tonight, Benjamin."
BEN:
(staring at his hands)
"He turns everything I use against me."
INT. PLUMBER OUTPOST — BELLWOOD — MOMENTS LATER
Emergency call to Azmuth. The hologram flickers — Odalon is trying to intercept even this signal.
AZMUTH (through heavy static):
"Odalon. Of course. We decommissioned his body. We forgot to check whether his mind had already left it. Classic institutional failure — Benjamin, listen carefully. You cannot out-signal him with external tools. He rewrites any device you aim at him. The only transmitter he cannot rewrite — is the Ultimatrix itself. Its core encryption is Galvan-grade. He cannot touch it."
BEN:
"So I use the Ultimatrix as the jammer."
AZMUTH:
"Not exactly. The Ultimatrix doesn't broadcast. It receives. To turn it into a transmitter powerful enough to flood Odalon's entire frequency range — you would need to run its Evolutionary Core at maximum output. Not in a transformation. As a raw broadcast signal."
GWEN:
"That would burn the device out."
AZMUTH:
"Yes."
BEN:
"..."
AZMUTH:
"However. There is a transformation in your device that is itself a living electromagnetic entity. One that doesn't use the Ultimatrix's signal — it generates its own. From biology, not technology. Odalon cannot rewrite biology."
KEVIN:
"Which one?"
AZMUTH:
"AmpFibian. And if you push it to its evolutionary limit — Ultimate AmpFibian — the bioelectric output would be sufficient. Theoretically."
BEN:
"You're saying theoretically a lot."
AZMUTH:
"It has never been attempted. The evolved form's neural electromagnetic field has never been fully mapped. What I know is this: it would make Benjamin Tennyson, for approximately 90 seconds, the most powerful electromagnetic entity on the surface of this planet."
GWEN:
"And Odalon is an electromagnetic entity."
AZMUTH:
"Yes. So you would also be making him a direct target of everything Odalon is."
Silence.
BEN:
"So the plan is: become a lightning bolt. Attract a murderous signal ghost. And out-broadcast him with my own brain."
AZMUTH:
"...Broadly, yes."
BEN:
"Okay. Cool. Let's go."
ACT THREE — THE RECKONING
EXT. BELLWOOD — CITY CENTER — NIGHT
Odalon's 90-minute window is down to 12. Every substation in the city is live and relaying. The signal has already reached the eastern seaboard — Plumber alerts firing from Boston to Miami. In 12 minutes, the Override Pulse goes national.
Ben, Gwen, and Kevin stand in the center of the city's main plaza. Open sky. Maximum exposure.
The plan: Ben transforms and broadcasts. Gwen builds a mana cage around the plaza to contain any electromagnetic blowback and protect civilians. Kevin absorbs the plaza's iron fencing — grounds himself to act as a physical anchor if the bioelectric field destabilizes Ben.
KEVIN:
"I just want to say — for the record — that this plan has a lot of steps that end with 'and then we hope Ben doesn't explode.'"
GWEN:
"For the record — I agree."
BEN:
"For the record — I've exploded before. I came back."
He looks at them both. Something genuine crosses his face.
BEN:
"Hey. Whatever happens — "
KEVIN:
"Don't."
GWEN:
"Seriously, don't."
BEN:
(small smile)
"...Yeah. Okay."
He turns. Slams the Ultimatrix.
🟢 TRANSFORMATION 05 — AMPFIBIAN
Species: Amperi
Powers: Bioelectric generation and control · Complete intangibility · Electrokinesis · Neural interface (can read electronic signals by touch) · Aquatic and aerial movement
Ben becomes AmpFibian — translucent blue-white jellyfish alien, four arms of crackling electric filaments, no solid mass. He floats six feet off the ground, crackling.
Odalon senses it immediately. Every screen, every light, every speaker in a two-block radius activates:
ODALON:
"Ah. The Amperi form. I've watched you use it before. You phase through walls, stun opponents, disrupt electronics on contact. It won't work against a distributed signal. I'm not in any one place for you to phase through."
AMPFIBIAN / BEN:
"I know. I'm not trying to phase through you."
He hits the Evolution button on the Ultimatrix.
🔶 ULTIMATE TRANSFORMATION — ULTIMATE AMPFIBIAN
Species: Evolved Amperi
Powers: Planetary-scale bioelectric broadcast · Neural electromagnetic architecture · Living signal generation · Complete intangibility · Storm-class lightning generation · Direct consciousness interface with any electronic signal within broadcast range
The transformation is unlike anything AmpFibian has ever been.
The Ultimatrix screams — the Evolution sequence triggers and Ultimate AmpFibian erupts upward — 20 feet of pure electric biology. The translucent blue-white body has darkened to deep violet-black shot through with arcs of blinding white lightning. The four arms have become eight, each one a crackling antenna of neural bioelectric tissue. The core body pulses like a living power station.
The air smells like ozone for a quarter mile.
Gwen's mana cage flares gold and holds. Kevin drives both iron-absorbed fists into the plaza stone to anchor himself against the shockwave.
ULTIMATE AMPFIBIAN / BEN:
(voice layered, resonant, electricity in every syllable)
"Odalon. You wanted to talk signal-to-signal? Let's talk."
He broadcasts.
Not lightning. Not a directed attack. A flood — Ultimate AmpFibian's entire bioelectric neural network expanding outward simultaneously, flooding every frequency Odalon occupies with living electromagnetic energy that cannot be rewritten because it is not code. It is biology. It is the evolved nervous system of a species that has been generating and navigating electromagnetic fields for millions of years.
Odalon fights back.
He sends everything — every relay node, every substation, every device in the city — pouring signal into the plaza in one massive counter-broadcast.
The collision is visible from orbit.
Lightning blooms in a perfect circle from the plaza outward. Gwen's mana cage goes white. Kevin's boots crack the stone as he leans into the force. Car alarms for six blocks. Windows flex but don't break.
And inside the electromagnetic storm, Ben finds Odalon.
Not a monster. A voice. A man. Old and furious and exhausted.
ODALON (in the signal-space, no broadcast layering — just a voice):
"You can't beat me here. This is my world. I've lived in signal for six years."
ULTIMATE AMPFIBIAN / BEN:
"I know. Six years up there alone. Watching. Waiting. That's — that's not protection. That's a prison you built yourself."
ODALON:
"I built it because they took everything else."
ULTIMATE AMPFIBIAN / BEN:
"I know what the Plumbers do wrong. I've been fighting their bad calls my whole life. But this — hijacking hospitals, traffic systems, buses full of kids — that's not a protest. That's a hostage situation."
ODALON:
"It was the only language they'd listen to."
ULTIMATE AMPFIBIAN / BEN:
"Then you've got the wrong language. Try mine."
And he broadcasts something Odalon doesn't expect: the full Ultimatrix DNA library signal. Not as a weapon. As a message. Four hundred and sixty-two species. The genetic biography of nearly half the life forms in the galaxy, compressed into a single electromagnetic burst, flooding Odalon's consciousness.
Odalon goes silent.
Not defeated. Overwhelmed.
ODALON (very quietly):
"...What is that?"
ULTIMATE AMPFIBIAN / BEN:
"Everything I carry. Everyone I can become. You spent six years watching me fight. You never saw what the watch actually is."
A long silence in the signal-space.
ODALON:
"...I just wanted them to take it seriously. The threats. The things I saw from up there that nobody down here ever believed were coming."
ULTIMATE AMPFIBIAN / BEN:
"Then come down. Be a witness, not a warden. Tell the Plumbers what you saw. In a room. With your name attached to it. Not through a city's worth of scared civilians."
The pulse weakens. The relay nodes go quiet — one by one — city blocks going dark in a slow ring expanding outward from the plaza. Odalon releasing his grip.
ODALON:
"...They'll arrest me."
ULTIMATE AMPFIBIAN / BEN:
"Probably. But you'll be heard. I'll make sure of it."
The last node goes dark. The storm collapses.
EXT. BELLWOOD PLAZA — CONTINUOUS
Ultimate AmpFibian's light dims. The body contracts. The eight arms fold inward. The evolution sequence reverses and Ben drops — AmpFibian for half a second, then fully reverted, falling.
Kevin catches him. Iron hands, gentle.
KEVIN:
"You good?"
BEN:
(barely conscious, grinning)
"Technically I just out-broadcasted a ghost with my brain. I'm better than good. I'm awesome."
GWEN:
(mana cage dissolving, visibly exhausted)
"You're an idiot is what you are."
BEN:
"Awesomely."
Gwen laughs. Kevin doesn't. But his grip doesn't loosen.
Beat.
The Ultimatrix pulses once — steady green. Normal. Like nothing happened.
In Ben's earpiece, a Plumber channel opens. Static. Then a voice — smaller than it was through a thousand speakers. Human.
ODALON (through the earpiece, quiet):
"...I'll stand down. Formally. For the hearing."
Ben looks up at the sky. The dead satellite, invisible from here, tumbling somewhere above him.
BEN:
"I'll set it up. You have my word."
EPILOGUE
INT. PLUMBER HEADQUARTERS — HEARING ROOM — TWO DAYS LATER
A simple room. A chair at the center. Projected above it: a wireframe human shape in blue light — Odalon, digitally present, his consciousness contained in a single shielded Plumber terminal.
Ben sits in the audience. Magister Hulka at the head of the table. Other senior Plumbers around it.
Odalon's testimony runs for three hours.
What he saw from orbit: six undocumented Highbreed advance scout events before the invasion. Two Lucubra incursions no one filed reports on. A pattern of Null Void destabilization that the Plumbers classified and buried because addressing it was expensive.
By the end of the three hours, four Plumber Magisters are taking notes with shaking hands.
MAGISTER HULKA (to Ben, afterward in the hallway):
"He was right about most of it. Not all. But most."
BEN:
"I know."
MAGISTER HULKA:
"He still hijacked a city."
BEN:
"I know that too."
Hulka looks at him for a long moment.
MAGISTER HULKA:
"He'll serve time. But the record will reflect the testimony."
BEN:
"That's all I asked for."
INT. TENNYSON HOU
