By Saturday, Selina took the turn guarding the Chanis Gate. Thus, using the time, she entered the dreamworld once again.
She was monitoring the state of all the seed holders during this. Catherine was seen at a clinic, in her new disguise she named, "Elys Stone." Her aim was to provide herself with blood from her patients, being careful not to breach the Goddess's scriptures and to gain a reputation of an eccentric doctor aiming to build her own pharmacy.
Yesir was in tandem with Piolo. At this point in time, it seems they are now preparing to the contracts for a land at 64 Westchester Street. The plot is fifteen acres, suitable for a venue.
Meanwhile, Greg, in the city of Tingen, has listed the plots available, one of which is the land at the West Borough, near the Tussock River. Where the purple house was located.
"It seems that the church has finally seized the land Trissy used to own. Intending to make use of it by reselling." Selina nodded slightly before shifting to the next seed holder.
One more thing she noticed, is that her seeds were turned to either be accommodated in brooches, be worn as necklace, embedded to a pocket watch and sewn into a handkerchief.
Each members has their own flavor in allowing others to discern one another through accessories.
Leonard is at the asylum again. He wore a half-top hat, and a trench coat. Lingering in between the gates and the nearby roads.
"Isn't that the asylum where Daxter Gudarian was working?" Selina acutely recognized the place. Similar to her, Leonard used a vial to contain her seed.
"I wonder what this poet will do with the seed I gave him..."
Her thought passed and finally she checked the last one to have gotten her seed, Judius Brown.
...
In a hotel located at Opera House Quarter, District 9 in the Capital of Intis Republic, Trier.
Lamp light that surround a lit candle magnified a room. There was three long couches surrounding a table and beside it was a billiard area.
Judius, wearing a black long coat and a bonnet sat next to a woman with closed eyes. Surrounded by men with formal dark suits and a crest right by their chest.
It was a cross between two iron-black swords.
A man among them had an imposing air. He measured nearly 1.8 meters in height has a hair, typical black as found in Intis.
He exhibited a few silver strands near his temples. He appeared to be in his early forties, possessed strong facial features, and his slightly reddened eyes contrasted with his otherwise brown irises.
While looking at him, Judius politely replied, "The only descendant of the Ivory family is not in the possession in the faction of the Child of God. She escaped."
"Then help us find her." the man who seemed to be the Commanding Officer, seated firmly across Judius.
Judius remained stern and simply posed a question, "Why?"
At that moment, the man reddened-brown irises suddenly gaze away and spoke languidly, "Something has changed and we can't put a finger on it. Did you know you and the faction you joined are supposed to perish during that ritual?
"Everyone of you is being hunted by the Primordial Moon faction."
"The point?" Judius's voice was growing colder.
"It seems it have everything to do with the failed vessel. We don't know if that has any links, but a will deep within underground is compelling us to meet her." The man faced Judius and leaned forward.
Deep within underground? Compelling them to meet me? Selina felt a shiver threaded through her spine.
It took Judius awhile before finally replying, "As you know, we collapsed. Our next in command perished under the hands of the Ivory's descendant.
"We're confused as to how that happened, but it's partly understandable considering that what he did was rash."
"Tell us where she was last seen." The man abandoned mincing his words to cut to the chase.
"In Tingen City." Judius answered.
The man with silver linings near his temple nodded but his curled lips died down. It was as though he had realized something.
"Here's what you asked for."
That is...! Selina peeled her eyes at the sight of a glowing luminous item sitting inside of the briefcase.
The infrared aura was outlining an uncanny shape of a biological heart, beating. The moment she realized that, her thoughts stirred.
A beyonder characteristic!
Selina followed the scene. From the inspection of Judius and the lady, to the scrutiny of the the Commanding Officer's men. She continued monitoring through the seed that was embedded into a hairband for the lady.
This lasted until they reached the Anarchy Street, to which Judius and the fair maiden with closed eyes beside him took a sudden turn and arrived behind a casino.
Selina wanted to continue. However, the pain was starting to surface. Thus she tried to press until she heard a greeting from a staff,
"Welcome back Monsieur Phalett."
...
Selina abruptly wake up from laying her head on the desk. She felt her body dried with sweat, partly due to the coldness underground.
When she scanned the break room, nothing was out of the ordinary.
Recalling that she's on duty, Selina quickly walked to the door glanced at the Chanis Gate.
"Nothing here either." she sighed in relief.
Then, turning around, her finger unknowingly pressed to her chin. That man, I don't know who he is or what is Judius's business with him. What does he want from me?
Other than the Rose School of Thought, I don't know any other organization that would want to target me. Was the Milo truly that controversial?
Selina lowered her hands and looked at the desk in the room, there sits her silver pocket watch, glistening under the dim light.
"This means not only the Rose School of Thought..."
...
Sunday came and went. While Monday arrived, Klein narrated what had happened during the time Dunn assigned him on the Maynard case.
He had went from probationary inspector to inspector, whilst his weekly salary increased from six pounds to ten pounds. That's thirty pounds per month.
Klein can't scrape the pleasant expression from his face as he tells this to Selina.
"Maynard case? A parliament representative of Tingen? What happened to him?" asked Selina curiously.
"He was found dead in his house. The Tingen Police Department is under huge pressure and wants us to use a mediumship ritual to help them pinpoint the murderer. Captain said I'm currently the only one who can do that." Klein explained. "The Holy Cathedral will send over a Mystery Pryer to our team next week.
"Captain also mentioned another would've been sent before. But because I joined and happen to chose Seer, it led to this."
"I see..." Selina retracted her gaze and look up ahead. "How long is this member been dead for?"
"Regrettably, the initial autopsy report shows that Mr. Maynard died between nine and eleven last night." answered Klein, repeating Dunn's words. "I only need to provide assistance."
If it was more than fifteen minutes, the information that could be obtained would decline considerably. If it was more than an hour, there would be very little left to find.
If it was more than a month, contact with the spirit of the dead would most likely fail.
Selina nodded slightly. "So what came next?"
Klein followed with the investigation, his cooperation with the brawny Inspector Tolle on the Maynard Case, but he left out the porn scenes he saw, considering it as intercourse.
However, just this bit was enough to pull a reaction from Selina. When he look at her, her face was flushed.
"A-And...?" Selina had her face on the opposite way, not wanting for Klein to look, but her red ears still betrayed her composure.
Klein chuckled and continued.
"I figured he died from exhaustion. His face ecstatic."
"Mhm." what he solicited from Selina was a mere nod in the head.
Then, he resumed to when he drew the picture of the woman, even describing her looks—a woman whose age was hard to tell. She had the mature vibe of a woman in her thirties, but there was a remnant of innocence to her. Her eyes were crystal clear, and she had a delicate look.
When Klein said she was beautiful for a simple description, the response he got was a piercing gaze from Selina.
"Is that so?"
Klein suddenly felt cold. "I-I'm joking..."
Only when he saw that her expression calmed down, he resumed.
...
"Maynard became a zombie?" Selina repeated.
Klein nodded while keeping track of their steps. "It was terrifying. But unlike before, I dealt with it rather decently. But there is something I discovered during that."
Selina became curious that she tilt her head a bit, waiting for him to finish. Then, she saw Klein pull out a copper whistle from his pocket and presented it to her.
"What's this?" was her natural response.
Klein explained, "Remember that I told Mr. Azik gave me a whistle before leaving Tingen? That was also his plan to lure out the target that was cautious of him. He left me this to keep in touch."
After being handed, Selina felt a cold sensation, as if bearing the weight of a dead corpse in her palm.
A whistle that connects to a messenger belonging to Mr. Azik...
"Sorry I didn't got you one." Klein apologized sincerely.
Selina smiled and returned the copper whistle back. She replied mellowly, "It's alright. I believe I will be at ease more if you do the contacting of Mr. Azik."
There's a risk I may forget this copper whistle in missions...
"So it's because of the aura within this that triggered Maynard's zombification?" Then, she posed a question.
Klein nodded and frankly said, "I even suspect Mr. Azik is an undead, who might have been resurrecting himself after a certain amount of time."
Selina nodded thoughtfully.
"What about the woman Mr. Maynard got into relationship with? Did you discovered her?"
Because the photo was handed to Dunn and Klein had not made another copy, he simply nodded as confirmation.
"Tolle exclaimed it's Madam Sharron."
Having said that, he continued to describe who she is—the prettiest widow in Tingen City. The most sought-after lady in social settings. She was the second wife of Baron Khoy, but unfortunately became widowed.
Welcomed by many amongst the nouveau riche merchants and aristocrats, someone who can be invited to banquets by both the Conservative Party and the New Party.
It's rumored that she and her stepson, the current Baron Khoy, are on 'friendly' terms with many nobles and senior civil servants in Backlund. A powerful lady.
Simply put, she's an exceptional socialite... Klein secretly concluded.
"The next part is not included in my job description. So I told how you interrogate Madam Sharon is none of my business."
Selina nodded in a better mood, "That's good."
After that, Klein has still more to narrate for Selina, thus they took the longest path to head for a carriage station.
...
"Hood Eugen had gone mad?" Selina arched an eyebrow. Why does it feel like beyonders are losing control left and right?
"As a Sequence 7 Psychiatrist, he actually pretended to be a mental patient. Even though he was giving treatments to other patients, it doesn't align with the core element of the potion's name. That was an incorrect way of using the "acting method." It's no wonder that he went insane..." Klein shared his internal insights during that time.
"And besides the staffs there, the patients and the members of the Psychology Alchemists, one of them came thrice."
Selina felt he was emphasizing someone and thus paid close attention.
"His pseudonym was El. His real name is Lanevus."
