Chapter 151 - The Trio's Influence

Right before leaving. Selina walked up to Dunn and took out her turquois seed from her coat.

"Captain." she said as her hand presents the little item. "Take this with you."

Upon being handed the very same seed that stabbed Morroy's heart. Dunn was at a lost. "Why are you giving this?"

"Since it saved us last time. It may be a good idea to keep it around as a charm." said Selina with a genial aura. "But please return it after."

"Huh..." Dunn casted his gaze on the brittle-looking seed.

After inspecting it, he gave it to Leonard to keep and said, "Hopefully we won't be needing the seed's help again, heh heh."

With that said, he turned to Klein and Seeka, "Do not engage in any battle without prior preparation or reinforcements. If Klein divined that it is somewhat safe don't enter, if it's certain then inspect with caution. As much as possible, always secure a way out of the house.

"Understood?"

Klein nodded firmly in unison with Seeka.

"Yes."

...

After the trackless carriage dropped Dunn and Leonard at the Red Light Street. Officer Philomore took the helms and reeled the rope to drove off.

When the twilight zone of the dusk finally fades into the dark. Occasional lamp lighters had began appearing on the sidewalks.

Each lamp was ignited, illuminating the path ahead. It didn't take long for them arrived at the upper street. Philomore deliberately slowed down on piloting the horses.

Behind the glass windows from their sides. Klein and Seeka turned to inspect one houses to another. Taking note of the light within and see if it's occupied as the sun fades.

Earlier, due to another suggestion regarding the possible. At this hour, it wouldn't be a surprise if the target building did not have a light on.

The curtains will likely be drawn because of the maid servant's passing of the day. This effectively lessened the effort burdened to them by their mission.

Otherwise, if the building was alit as any other. The gentleman's silhouette will likely be made out as they go. Realizing that it was him.

Selina was leaning to Seeka. Eyes closed and breathing slowly.

Knowing that she's going to console Mrs. White. Klein had left the seed at the roof of the carriage. Letting it be animated by the Goddess.

From time to time, he'd saw a thin stretching vine jumped from the ground and hide. In those occasions, he'd anxiously glance at Seeka.

How long is this going to continue... Klein hoped to end this or else he might get a heart problems.

The seed jumped again.

...! Klein immediately looked at Seeka from the corner of his eyes. Luckily this time she's gazing from the opposite window.

The light vanished from the horizon, and at this moment, the seed leaped back to the carriage after nearing a house.

From where it propelled has no lights. No occupants. The door is closed and the curtains were drawn.

"There!" Klein said while suppressing his voice.

Selina woke up from Seeka's nudges and said in a hazy, languid voice. "We're here?"

"Seems like it." Seeka looked out on the window in the direction Klein indicated.

If their hypothesis is right. That the gentleman had no relatives to return. He would likely prolong his stay at the Bounevelle's Rest House for the club. This would result in his house being inactive.

Before alighting. Klein suggested for a divination. To see if it's safe to continue because of Dunn's words.

He held up the George King's copper coin and flicked it. Sending it in the air, landing firmly onto his palm.

As this happens, his pupils turned deep dark. Dang!

It landed upright. George King's face!

"The person is indeed not in the house." Klein skillfully discerned the meaning and said, "But let's stay caution like the Captain said. No divinations are all-powerful."

...

After a series of metallic sound, clashing behind the door. The lock finally clicked open.

Holding her hairpin. Seeka rose up from kneeling and returned the pin back onto her hair.

Are we still called special forces? Selina was starting to feel alarmed by how each members handles breaking in.

Leonard had done this and now Seeka too?

It's blurring on the line from being a professional to outright breaking in!

Stepping aside. Klein opened the door widely. They saw a mildly lavish interior, decorated with beige wall papers and tables accentuating flower pots.

On the side between two doors, a grand clock was seen rhyming a chime repeatedly.

Tic. tic. tic.

"Let's check the bedroom before inspecting the basement." said Seeka as she intrudes first in the house.

While keeping a close proximity. Selina walked carefully and mindful as to not touch anything accidentally.

Each room they've cross had a classical style that fits the era Selina known in the past. Intricate patterns over the walls, carpet on the floor and a candelabra that hang above.

Then suddenly. When they entered the bedroom. A large, human-sized plush of a cow greeted them on the mattress.

T-There's plushies in this world too? And it's huge! I wonder how many cottons does it take to tailor this...

Seeing this. She instinctively looked at Klein and saw his expression contorts.

He's probably saying "what a waste!" in mind... Selina mused secretly. Enjoying the reaction.

Meanwhile Seeka ignored the elephant in the room and instead approached the wardrobe to search.

Selina left Klein's side and began rummaging as well.

For five minutes. They have checked every suitcase, boxes, folders and drawers. However, despite the effort, there was no possible lead that can uncover the Rose School of Thought in the city.

"These are only his personal documents, contracts and credentials." Klein lowered the paper in his hand. A little disheartened.

Seeka walked over and mentioned, "There was only the safe inside of the wardrobe. Klein, can you divine the codes to open it?"

"I can." Klein sighed regrettably. "But I'm out of materials to use."

"What exactly do you need? Perhaps we can find them here." Seeka faced him.

Klein patted his coat and quickly noted, "Essential oil and salt."

Seeka nodded and called Selina out. "We will check the kitchen. Stay here and maintain surveillance of the room. The man might come back for the safe, it seems to be important."

If the man Selina saw is indeed the owner and the person from the dream divination. Then it's likely he was alerted and would immediately migrated with his belongings, especially what's in the safe.

Klein firmly nodded.

The room stayed alit in the pallid glow of the crimson moon. Reflected by the path it illuminates was the dim outlines of the bookshelves, the vase and sofas that make the room spacious.

It was quiet and serene after Seeka and Selina left. Tempting is to be embraced by the bed to sooth the day's toil.

Thud!

A sudden movement from the multifaceted roofs echoed.

Klein, who was seated on the bed's edge promptly stood up. His hairs stood on end.

He quickly reached for his revolver and undid his makeshift, safety cap from the gun's cartridge.

It was night, and because of the crimson moon. The scenery outside was akin to a blood bath. It was like a horror movie, teetering on the concept of the blood moon.

Blood Moon... Klein held his breath and took cover in the shadows.

His spiritual intuition tells him that someone is approaching!

He shifted the placement of his cane and leaned it to the wall. It costed him quite a decent soli notes when he bought it. It would be devastating if it results in a way that giant plushie was made.

Committing all the shooting experience he had and practiced with Selina. Coupled with the combat training and regimes. He encouraged himself.

I am made for this!

Then the window was carefully pried open.

Creak~!

Klein slowed his breathing down. This must the gentleman Selina saw before... Did Captain and Leonard failed to subdue him?

The figure jumped down. "Haah..."

He looked sideways and brushed the crease of his vintage suit. Yes, it was him, the man from Bounevelle Rest House!

Klein quietly aimed. Decisively at his chest or head.

There's no consequence of killing him as having an obedient spirit is much easier to interrogate than a living one. Being a Seer has this benefit that requires one to be practical.

Just as he was about to pull. The man suddenly turned to him.

What?

His eyes met Klein's dark-brown pupils, then paused right then.

"Ah." The man's lips parted. "Ah ah ah."

Klein froze.

Reflecting on his eyes, the gentleman's refined bearings grew cold. He was visibly trembling, pupils dilating.

His breathing was unstable and on top of that, blood was forming as tears streaming down his face.

"Ah!"

The door from the room slammed open. Two ladies appeared, one was holding a jar of salt while the other oils.

Selina saw the man, but was immediately stunned by his cries.

The man with brown hair and pale, lightly brown skin convulsed and buckled down. He was screaming and clawing his face.

During that moment. Selina noticed Klein by the shadows, lowering his gun. "Klein! What's happening to him?"

Hearing her voice, the figure turned. Then a higher, greater pitch voice shrieked from his throat.

"AH!" The man was having a seizure.

What? It suddenly got worse? Selina was puzzled as she looked at him with concern.

As the scream went on. Two more figures appeared by the balcony of the next house and into the window.

"What's going on?" Dunn leaped down and asked in a deep firm voice.

Leonard followed and was just perplexed as the captain after he stepped down. "Did something happened?"

Upon seeing Leonard, casually reckoning the situation. The man's pupils turned white and he spasmed.

For an inexplicable reason. His face worsened and lungs bulging as he cried even louder. "AHHH!"

Blood was like a river flowing from his face. The man's body was too focused on his thoughts that it fails to cover his face.

As much as Selina wanted to address Dunn and Leonard breaking in, or all of them here helping themselves as if it's their residence. Her mind quickly recalled of the scene about Ademinsaul.

Because he's a half-Monster, she pondered if becoming a full-fledged would prevent this. However, it did crossed her mind that perhaps it was her uniqueness that causes this.

The man saw Klein, then her and finally Leonard. All are considered special amongst the common.

Selina considered for a moment as the cries continued. Is he a Sequence 9 Monster? ...If so staying here might kill this poor guy in a horrible way! A gunshot would've been fine but...

Finally, she shot a glance at Klein, retreating his revolver and returning its safety cap.

Suddenly, his intuition was triggered.

Klein quickly looked around and sought Selina, standing by the door frame.

Her familiar stare made him shivered, realizing that is meant he was needed outside of the room.

With this signal. She then turned to Leonard, who stood next to Dunn with a raised brow and a puzzled face.

Leonard's eyes then noticed her. It only took him a moment to seemingly understand the assignment. He left Dunn's side.

"I'll be waiting outside. Call me if I'm needed." Leonard slicked his hair and leisurely walked pass Selina.

"Where are you heading?" asked Seeka as she noticed that Klein and Leonard seemed to suddenly found interest in the hall.

Klein answered wry humor, "I might've scared him too much. Triggered his heart issues probably? It's likely best for me to just wait outside while you guys handle him."

Then on the heels of that. Seeka turned to Selina, who in the corner of her eyes, saw that she was also leaving.

"You too?"

Selina gave a faint coquettish smile. "I'm not skilled in restraining a person as of yet. So for now I'll gladly step out of your way. Please take care of him."

After that, she also left and closed the door gently.

In less than five seconds. Dunn and Seeka was left with an utterly dying man, convulsing with blood pooling and tainting his suit.

Silence filled the room.
