"This is a Dragon Slayer Lacrima."
Standing to the side, Mirajane explained it to Kinana.
Since Marco wanted to test Kinana, he had already informed Mirajane beforehand, and she had quietly stayed by the two of them the whole time.
Seeing that Kinana had no reaction at all to the Dragon Slayer Lacrima, Mirajane naturally let out a small sigh of relief. Of course, she knew this wasn't over yet—this was only the beginning.
"Dragon... Slayer Lacrima?"
Kinana still looked completely confused.
There was no helping it.
In many ways, Kinana's understanding was still that of a girl around ten years old, and her personality was still somewhat childlike as well.
As far as the magical world was concerned, Kinana could practically be said to know nothing at all. She couldn't use magic either.
The magic she most wanted to learn right now was Take Over Magic, because both Mirajane and Lisanna—the two sisters who had been so kind to her—used Take Over Magic.
And being able to take in the power of animals or demons and use it as your own sounded incredibly cool.
She liked that style of fighting very much.
As for things like Dragon Slayer Magic or Dragon Slayer Lacrima, Kinana understood none of it.
She only knew that there were several Dragon Slayers in the guild, that they were all very strong, and that Dragon Slayer Magic was powerful too.
"This is a Poison Dragon Lacrima. If it's implanted, the user can obtain Poison Dragon Slayer Magic and become a powerful Dragon Slayer."
Marco briefly explained what the Lacrima did.
Honestly, the value of this Poison Dragon Lacrima was absolutely enormous.
If it weren't in Marco's hands, and if Cobra himself hadn't explicitly said he was giving it to Marco, then this thing would definitely have sparked a huge fight over who got it.
After all, whether someone used it themselves or traded it away, it could create tremendous value.
There were very few people who could really treat something like this as worthless.
Even Marco himself had accepted the gift, hadn't he?
Even if he definitely wasn't going to use it personally, letting another guild member use it could still add a pretty solid fighter to the guild.
This Poison Dragon Slayer Magic might seem a little weak at first glance, but that was only because of the enemies Cobra had faced.
No matter what, this was still a specialized Dragon Slayer Magic.
Not only could it poison and corrode others, but it also granted powerful physical abilities, including the capacity—like Natsu and the others—to cover the body in dragon scales.
"Oh, that's amazing!"
Kinana nodded vaguely and praised it.
She even clapped politely as she spoke.
At the same time, though, she kept glancing at Mirajane with eyes full of pleading, because she completely didn't understand what was going on or what Marco meant by this.
Mirajane could only shake her head lightly.
She could only stand by and watch, without giving anything away. Of course she understood what Marco was doing.
This was also his way of eliminating a potential safety risk for everyone in the guild.
After all, Kinana's former "true form," Cubellios, had been a little too powerful for some guild members to deal with—especially the ones who usually survived on ordinary low-paying jobs.
If that giant purple snake ever caused trouble again, those people really wouldn't be able to do anything about it.
"What do you think about using it yourself?"
Looking at Kinana, Marco put forward a suggestion.
Giving Cobra's keepsake—the Poison Dragon Lacrima—to Kinana, whose "true form" had once been Cubellios, could be seen as a way of fulfilling something for both of them.
"No, no, no! How could I?! Something this precious—how could I possibly be worthy of using it? I still want to learn Take Over Magic from Mira-san..."
But Kinana immediately rejected the idea.
She waved her hands frantically, looking as though she were trying to avoid a venomous snake.
There was no helping it.
Marco's sense of "fulfillment" came from the fact that he knew the whole story. He knew about Cobra and Cubellios.
But Kinana knew none of that.
She didn't think she had any connection to this so-called Poison Dragon Lacrima, and she certainly didn't think she was qualified to use such a treasure.
Nor did she particularly want to become some "powerful Dragon Slayer."
In the end, Marco took back the Poison Dragon Lacrima.
Kinana immediately let out a sigh of relief. If Marco had kept insisting, she truly wouldn't have known how to refuse him.
"Then who should use this thing? Everyone already has their own magic they're best at."
Marco put the Poison Dragon Lacrima away again, then let out a long sigh, looking genuinely troubled.
With how worried he seemed, it almost looked as though the only reason he had come to see Kinana in the first place was because she still hadn't learned any magic yet.
"That really does make it hard to find the right person."
Mirajane held back a laugh and nodded seriously, going along with Marco's performance.
She thought his excuse was actually pretty decent.
"There's definitely someone more suitable than me..."
With Marco and Mirajane playing off each other, the simple-hearted Kinana really believed it.
Feeling a little embarrassed, she even tried to comfort Marco.
"Forget it. I'll just look slowly."
Marco shook his head and didn't dwell on it any further.
At least judging from Kinana's current reaction, she probably really didn't have a problem.
She truly had no relevant memories at all.
As far as she was concerned, Cobra the "Poison Dragon" had absolutely nothing to do with her.
"Maybe she'd only react if she saw the real person."
That was Marco's guess.
If that were the case, then there was nothing to worry about anymore.
Kinana was definitely never going to see Cobra again.
Now that Kinana had temporarily passed the test, Mirajane also became serious again.
"This Dragon Slayer Lacrima isn't something just anyone can use. Compatibility matters. It's best to find someone with a high degree of compatibility before implanting it."
There was still some danger involved with a Dragon Slayer Lacrima.
Not everyone was like Laxus, who could implant one so easily.
And besides, Laxus hadn't just implanted one at random.
He had already been skilled in lightning-element magic to begin with, and the Lightning Dragon Lacrima was perfectly compatible with him.
That was why the implantation had gone so smoothly.
If they just grabbed someone at random and forced it on them, it would most likely go badly—especially with something like the Poison Dragon, which wasn't exactly the easiest type to match with.
"With my body being immune to all poisons, I might actually be compatible."
