The village was quiet, nor because it was night, not because of bandit, but because of the looming threat of the Orcs that appeared near the crops.
Everyone inside thet house were praying for the Orcs to not destroy their crops, the situation.
But at the guild–
"Everyone are you ready for the subjugation!"
Philip shouted at the crowd inside the adventurers guild.
"YEAHHHHH!"
Loud voices of agreement and excitement surge into the crowd of adventurers, because of the subjugation.
"let's go, and show them what we are!"
Philip yelled, pointing his sword outsidethe guild and sprinted out followed by the adventurers.
"Troublesome adventurers..."
the receptionist muttered while covering both of her ears.
A few moments later–
At the West area of the village.
The group of adventurers walk to the road until they reached the old wooden bridge, a few level up the river.
"Are we sure the orcs are here?"
a muscular adventurer asked, sniffing the air like a dog.
"Jorik said it was near the bridge at the west"
Philip said glancing left and right.
"Are there any scouts or spy section adventurers? "
He ask, glancing behind him.
Everyone were quiet, looking at each other, Spy and scout class weren't rare but Hayan. Was a habitat where clever monsters barely appear, everyone stared at each other.
Until–
"Yeah i am...."
a man said raising his hand.
"i am a scout..."
He proudly added.
"Well then, go and scan this area"
Philip ordered, pointing his sword at the scout.
The man left before he could even finish bis dialouge.
The adventurers and Philip sat under a tree, some guarded and scammed nearby areas, it was silent for about 10 minutes when–
"Hey, i found them"
the man's voice echoed, he leaped from tree to tree and stopped on the tree the group was resting.
"There are atleast 12 orcs"
He informed taking the dagger out, one from his hip and the other frrom his thigh.
"Well done my man!"
Philip said giving the guy a thumbs up.
He reached to his sword and raised from his spot. Then, turned to the adventurers still lazily sitting under the tree
"Guys let's go, we'll have a orc feast tonight!"
he shouted dramatically.
"Yes!"
The adventurers said in unison and raised from their resting spot.
the scoutt gestured them to follow him and leaped to another tree while the adventurers prowled behind him
At the riverside there was a rustle in the woods, then the ground trembled a bit, then again, and something crushed thegrass beneath it's heavy weight, the creatures walked, face alike a pig, body alike a refined warrior.
Orc...
They walked in groups, 12 of them, some chewed on a slime they slayed earlier.
The pack moved cautiously beside the river, but their steps didn't last long.
Slash!.
Something moved through one of the Orcs hand, smooth precise, as if moving through water.
Thud!.
The hand dropped to the ground, the other Orcs stared, processing what just happened while the one that got it's arm severed–
ROAAARRRRR!!
A deafening voice of pain echoed through the forest.
"Guys, let's go! FEAST!"
Philip shouted as the adventurers ganged on 3 of them with whatever weapon bring along.
"Yes!!"
SLASH!
THUD!!
Philip yelled, slicing one of the Orcs head cleanly off, before kicking it to a nearby Orc that was about to attack one of the mages.
4 hours later...
Free laid in a play mat, he pretend to play while carefully listening to the two people's conversation.
Hina sat on her chair, uneasiness clinging to her face.
"He hasn't return"
Hina muttered, glancing at the door for the 20th time.
"Don't worry lady Hina, lord Philip will be fine"
Lina comforted her, preparing plates for dinner.
"Orcs sometime move in groups so it might take some time"
She calmly added.
"I know but the sun is almost gone!"
Hina replied, her eye instinctively turning to the door.
Meanwhile Free in a play mat was in his own thought.
'Orc. Mana. So this really is one of those so-called isekai the nerds during school days always blab about'
He thought with a neutral expression.
A few more minutes passed, Hina was just about to got up from her chair, just then–
Click.
"I'm home"
Philip's voice came, his footsteps creaked with the wooden floor.
"Philip! do you know how worried I was!!"
Hina shouted, giving him a tight hug
"You are late"
She added in a soft voice.
"Don't worry honey nothing can stop me even if it want to!"
Philip said, scraping the chair against the floor and drop himself on it.
"You look very exhausted"
Hina said, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear.
"lord Philip, lady Hina, dinner is ready"
Lina interrupted, placing the plate filled with rice, some booiled eggs and stew.
"We will talk later, let's eat for now"
philip said, his hand reaching for the soup.
But then, he paused and faint smile appeared on his face, and he put his left hand underneath his pocket and pulled out a small crystal like object from his pocket, olacing it beside Free who was playing in the play mat.
"This one's for you!"
He excitedly said.
'What is this thing?'
Free thought, his hand touching the crystal out of sheer curiosity, the crystal pulsed a faint green like color.
The soft light from the crystal reflected against his face, Free's hand tighten around it.
But then–
"Philip! don't hand Free a monster core! You know it can explode right!!!"
Hina shshout, terriefied, and smacked Philip hard on the head.
'What!? A bomb! Why would philip hand me a literal bomb!'
Free thought while holding the core with his shaking hands, his hands shook unable to let the small crystal fall from his hand.
"Honey! Y'know it only explode if two Monster core of same species made a high contact for together!"
Philip said, placing a hand to where hina smacked him.
It hurts. A lot.
"But still! Giving Free something this dangerous...."
She said, putting the warm steak in her mouth while still being a little mad.
'Ohh. So only if two made a impact together they will explode'
Free exhaled in relief, looking at the crystal again in his hands.
His hand traced the sharp areas of the crystal. But then–
slick...
A light cut to his finger, it wasn't deep, or severe, just enough to make his hand slightly red.
"wahh!wahh!wahh!"
Even with the mind of an adult, Free cried because he was an infant.
"SEEE!"
Hina shouted, her hand reaching for the nearest object nearby.
bonk!.
A pan landed on Philip's head, he covered the spot where she hit him and graned in pain.
"See! i told you it is dangerous"
Hina scolded, kneeling down and comforting Free, her gentle hand crapped around the wound, the pain faded away a little bit.
"...sorry" He apologized, face flat on the table.
Hina on the other hand, ignored his apology and raised her hand and tap it in free's palm and chanted.
"Oo goddess of light, cleanse the wounds and suffering of our friend and foes, light heal"
She complete her chant, slowly a green glow appread in her hands, Free's wound slowly closed and his hand looked like it was never cutted.
And Free....?
'W-wow, so this is can magic i do it too'
He thought, looking at his healed hand.
Hina turn back to her table with a satisfied smile but paused, hearing a voice.
"el-eal eel.... "
Free was trying to chant like her and his hand was barely even lifting, Hina's eye widened but she chuckled.
"Sweetie you don't have to chant a spell, just do it in mind~"
she teasingly said, not knowing she had made her biggest mistake.
Free heard it, then glanced at Hina who was eating her meals now, then his focus shifted back to his hand.
'Okay if what Hina is true, i can do it in my mind'
He thought, closing his eye and took a deep breath andchanted in his mind.
'Oo goddess of light, cleanse our friend and foes wounds and suffering, light heal'
He completed, nothing happened at first, Free stared at his hand, thinking it was useless, but then his hand glowed in green light.
'Woah....it is happening!'
Free excitedly shook his hand, delight overtaking, nobody noticed that the boy's hand was glowing. And this, this carelessness was their biggest mistake.
Free's eye reflected the glow im his hand, but just as he thought it could get better...
'Huh?'
His vision blurred, the world started to spin, everything melted, twisted and distorted. After a few seconds the glow faded and Free laid unconcious against the mat.
"Hm? Look like Free fall asleep"
Hina said, picking Free from the mat and gently help him in a comfortable position and began to walk out.
"Hm?... "
She paused, something changed, Free suddenly felt heavier, somehow she could feel a mana equal. No even greater than her and it was coming from Free.
"W happen?"
Philip ask, food stuffes in his mouth.
"Ifelt like Free's mana just grew greater than mine"
she replied, confused and a slight concern as she stared at Free's peaceful face.
"You are just hallucinating"
Philip said, brushing it off.
"Maybe...or maybe not?"
Hina asked herself, but no one answer came, aafter a few minutes, she shrugged it off and laid Free in his bed.
On that night, Hina's teasing and ignorance to her son created something disastrous, something she will remember, something that could not be ignored, but it Was just the start.
To be continue....
