Chapter 6 - Chapter 5: The First Supernatural Confrontation

The afternoon sun had begun its slow descent, casting the campus in a warm amber glow. Christopher Thomas Green stood near the edge of the courtyard, observing the flow of students and the subtle currents of supernatural energy threading through the academy grounds. He had spent the morning cataloging interactions, energy patterns, and the small quirks that distinguished one supernatural student from another.

"High school," he muttered under his breath with a grin, "chaos masquerading as order. Delightful."

He could feel it—the faint, almost imperceptible tremor of power, like a ripple in a pond no one else could see. It was subtle at first, almost shy, but it grew in intensity, tugging at the edges of his awareness. Christopher tilted his head. Someone is acting… recklessly.

Before he could move, a loud, panicked shout echoed from the far side of the courtyard. Students scattered in all directions, their auras flickering wildly. A bright flare of energy erupted near the gymnasium, followed by a streak of blue light that shimmered and twisted unnaturally.

Christopher's grin widened. "Ah. First real excitement. I've been hoping for a proper introduction to chaos."

He strode forward calmly, bag bouncing lightly on his shoulder, as his gaze swept the scene. At the center of the disturbance, a small group of students were fighting, but the combat was uncontrolled. Energy spiraled dangerously, crackling in patterns that suggested raw talent but minimal control. One of them, a boy with spiky black hair, flailed wildly, sending arcs of energy flying in unpredictable directions. Christopher recognized him instantly. Issei Hyoudou.

Christopher's lips curved into a faint smile. "Ah… and here comes my chance to actually do something useful."

He approached silently, stepping into the zone of fluctuating energy. The moment he did, he could feel every ripple, every subtle intention of the students around him. Observation first. Action second.

"Issei," he called calmly, though loud enough to be heard over the chaos, "control your aura. Focus. Don't fight blindly. You're not alone."

Issei froze for a split second, eyes wide, then nodded slightly, trying to follow the instructions. Sparks of energy fizzled around him, flickering under Christopher's subtle guidance. Christopher leaned slightly forward, gesturing with hands, redirecting excess energy almost imperceptibly. Within moments, the spiraling arcs stabilized into controlled flows, preventing anyone from getting hurt.

Asia and Koneko appeared beside him. Asia's expression was a mixture of awe and relief, while Koneko's eyes narrowed, silently acknowledging Christopher's control.

"Observation and calm," Christopher murmured, more to himself than anyone else. "Humor optional… though it helps with morale." He added a light quip, "See, Issei? No explosions. Mostly safe. Mostly."

Issei blinked, then grinned shakily. "I… I think I get it."

Christopher smiled faintly. "Good. Small steps. Mistakes are allowed—learning is required."

From the shadows of the gymnasium, a presence stirred—someone far more dangerous than these students: a fallen angel, disguised among the normal-looking teens, eyes glinting with malice. Christopher sensed it immediately—the aura was strong, corrupt, and deliberately concealed. His posture shifted subtly, his body attuned to every whisper of energy.

"You're not careful," he murmured softly, almost a whisper to himself. "They're testing the waters."

The fallen angel stepped forward, wings unfurling silently, their energy pressing against Christopher's senses. "You," the being hissed, eyes locking onto him, "you don't belong here."

Christopher tilted his head, grin still in place. "I belong wherever I observe, mostly. And wherever I prevent chaos from killing people unnecessarily. You are… overreacting."

The fallen angel's lips twisted in irritation. "You interfere with what should be ours. I will see you removed."

Christopher's eyes narrowed slightly. He stepped forward with measured calm. The ground beneath him seemed to respond subtly—not with overt magic, but with an almost imperceptible weight, a grounding presence that set him apart from ordinary mortals. "Try," he said simply.

The aura around the fallen angel quivered, sensing something it could not define—an older, steadier, rooted presence, unlike the devils or angels it had faced before. Christopher's calm, measured observation, and human confidence unnerved it.

Rias and Akeno appeared suddenly at his side, crimson and black hair flowing, eyes glowing faintly. Rias's aura flared, commanding and protective. Akeno's subtle electricity danced along her fingers. Christopher, however, remained steady, letting them take their positions while he observed, directing Issei and the others with quiet gestures and calm commands.

"Let them see," he murmured. "Let them test. Let them learn."

The battle began in earnest. Energy streaked across the courtyard, but under Christopher's subtle guidance, the students' attacks were controlled, the area safe. The fallen angel attacked aggressively, but every move was anticipated, countered not with raw power, but with calm strategy, observation, and precise timing.

At one point, Issei stumbled, energy flaring uncontrollably. Christopher was there immediately, placing a hand lightly on his shoulder, grounding the boy. "Steady," he said softly. "You control it. I'm here. Breathe. Focus."

Issei did, and the flow of energy smoothed. Christopher smiled faintly, whispering under his breath, "See? Observation and calm. Humor optional. Mostly works."

Asia rushed to his side, worry etched on her face. "You're amazing! How do you stay so calm?"

Christopher shrugged lightly, grinning. "Years of practice observing chaos and learning not to panic. And, of course, humor. It keeps people alive when logic alone might fail."

Even Koneko's neutral expression softened slightly. Christopher noted it mentally: patience, calm, humor—trust was building naturally.

Finally, with a coordinated effort, Rias and Akeno struck a decisive maneuver, while Christopher subtly guided the students from the background. The fallen angel was forced to retreat, wings folding in annoyance, glaring back with an unspoken promise of future confrontation.

Christopher watched the figure vanish, then turned to the students around him. "Everyone alive?" he asked lightly, though his eyes swept the courtyard, scanning for residual threats.

"Y-yes!" Issei said, beaming despite his exhaustion.

"You… saved us," Asia said softly, awe in her voice.

Christopher smiled faintly, shrugging. "Observation, calm, humor… and patience. Not all heroes need to yell or flash lights. Some just notice."

Rias approached him, eyes sharp but approving. "Christopher, you've handled your first confrontation expertly. Your calm and awareness… it's rare."

Christopher grinned. "Thank you. Calm, humor, patience, observation… my personal brand of first-day heroism."

Akeno smirked softly. "We'll see how long your calm lasts when things get really dangerous."

Christopher tilted his head, smiling faintly. "Then I'll just have to get funnier."

The courtyard quieted, the sun dipping below the horizon, casting long shadows. Christopher's gaze swept the academy grounds. Supernatural energy pulsed faintly in every corner, waiting, testing, alive. And he was ready—not as a king, not as an emperor, but as a human: funny, observant, patient, and unshakably calm.

"This world," he murmured to himself, "is going to be fun."

And somewhere, faintly, almost like a memory, a voice whispered approval:

"You are ready, my son."

Christopher grinned. "Alright, world. Bring it on."
