"Uh, are you sure this is the right place? I told you to bring them to a warehouse, you know?" Ren spoke in a confused tone as he stood outside a building that looked completely abandoned. It wasn't even that large.
Mei Mei walked ahead casually, pushing open the rusted gate. "Just follow me. And yes, this is the right place. It's perfectly outside the city, near the outskirts—well out of sight of any cameras. Even the police don't roam these areas. Do you know why?"
Ren followed her, glancing around at the desolate surroundings. "Is this some kind of dead zone?"
"In a way"
Mei Mei replied.
"A wealthy businessman bought this land from the government, and he was planning to build a mall and several other projects, but his company went bankrupt. To recoup his losses, he tried to sell it back to the government, but they refused. They've been stuck in a court battle ever since. It's been a ruin for years. Every year or so, the police come by just to make sure no one is squatting."
Mei Mei reached a heavy wooden door and pushed it. It creaked loudly on its hinges. She stepped inside, and Ren followed close behind as she swung the door shut. The interior was hollow and stripped bare, the only light coming through a few grime-streaked windows. The paint was peeling off the walls, and on other parts there wasn't any paint at all.
"Wait"
Ren said, frowning. "If the cops come here every year, doesn't that make this place totally unsafe?"
Mei Mei smiled and gave a small nod. "It wasn't safe…
But I forgot to mention that this place has been rotting for over a decade. Yup, this is a twelve-year-old building right here, almost older than you, Ren.
But still, nothing has changed, so the police eventually stopped their check-ups. Plus, I bought this piece of land from the original owner at a very cheap price, but I didn't exactly inform the authorities.
As far as the court system knows, this place is still a legal battlefield. It's one of the safest places in Japan right now because it doesn't officially 'exist' to anyone. It's exactly the 'perfect warehouse' you asked for."
Ren looked around the empty, dusty shell of the building. "Okay, I guess it's secretive, but where is everyone? There's no one here. Uh, I also told you to stock up on some supplies. You know?"
Mei Mei's smile turned incredibly smug. "Oh, I guess Gojo didn't teach you this trick, did he? Watch and learn, student. This entire building is a... barrier!"
She clapped her hands sharply, her voice taking on a melodic, commanding tone.
"Through the black feathers and the ravens, through the mist and heights of the dark sky... Barrier: Open!"
As she spoke the chant, the interior of the building was suddenly flooded with a whirlwind of black feathers. In the blink of an eye, Ren was no longer standing in a dusty ruin. He was in a massive, pitch-black room that felt far larger than the building's exterior.
The space was furnished with a couch, a carpet, and various supplies like a fridge, a generator, a box TV, and even cast-iron taps. On the far side of the room, two people were tied securely to a metal pole.
'What the fuck?' Ren thought, his mind racing. Since when was this possible? Did Mei Mei invent something like this in the canon? No, she must have developed this because of my influence... I must have changed the plot enough that she reached this level.
No, wait... she said Gojo didn't teach me this and called it a barrier. Is this just an advanced application? How is it so much bigger on the inside? How did she move living people in here instantly?'
Ren kept his face blank, though one of his eyebrows twitched. Mei Mei let out a delighted laugh.
"Ha! Look at your face. Don't tell me you don't know advanced barrier techniques yet. I wonder what they're even teaching you at Jujutsu High!"
Ren scowled, trying to regain his composure. "I know what this is. It's clearly just an advanced application of barriers. I just didn't expect someone like you to be able to do this..."
Mei Mei stopped laughing, her expression shifting to a slight frown.
"What do you think I am? A Grade 1 sorcerer in for fun?? Also, don't act like you know what this is or even how I did it. I can clearly tell by your face you were at least a little shocked."
Ren rolled his eyes and walked toward the two prisoners.
They were struggling against their restraints.
'Haruta Shigemo, the dude who got beaten up by Nanim and was also the dude who Meigmiu summoned Mahorage for. What an unlucky dude…' Ren thought, 'And the other guy is the man who made one of Maki's swords and got one short by Gojo later on, if I am not wrong, Juzo Kumiya…'
"Perfect," Ren said aloud. "You guys are exactly who I wanted."
"I don't mind asking"
Mei Mei interrupted, "But why did you want these two alive? I mean, at least with Juzo it makes sense; he knows how to make cursed tools, but the pointy tail?"
"Isn't he just useless?
Ren looked down at Haruta's face. There were six faint marks under his eyes they were almost unnoticeable…
'Useless?'
'This dude has one of the most powerful cursed techniques in JJK… the cursed technique Miracles. It does what it says: pretty much whatever lucky things happen to him every day get removed from his memories. In turn, he pretty much gets little miracles which just activate randomly when he is in danger.
This power is so broken that it pretty much made it so he survived Sukuna's and Mahoraga's fight at Shibuya… In the hands of some idiot like Haruta, who doesn't even know how his cursed technique works, it's pretty much useless, but in my hands… this might just make me unbeatable… It's pretty much luck manipulation…'
Ren thought, a cold grin forming.
'But this is also the true reason why I didn't tell Mei Mei to kill both of them because Haruta's miracles would have activated if Mei Mei tried to kill him, and he could have got away. That's why catching this dude is easier than killing him…
Not to mention Juzo is also important since he knows about cursed tools and how to make them… Now I am finally one step closer to finishing my plans...'
Just as Ren thought, everything has went well for him…
All the marks under Haruta's eyes vanished…
The marks, which each symbolised miracles, all 6 disappeared in a second…
What happened next could only be described as an orchestra of miracles.
