Chapter 19 - Chapter 18

Chapter: "I Am Iron Woman"

The World Stage

Location: Stark Industries Press Conference Room — Night

Toni Stark adjusted the mic on the sleek podium as flashes from a thousand cameras illuminated her figure. Her long brown hair curled perfectly around her jawline. Dressed in a sharp navy-blue suit jacket over a form-fitting white blouse, she looked calm. Unshaken. A goddess of innovation and steel.

Behind her, a S.H.I.E.L.D. projector screen displayed the burning wreckage of the Obadiah conflict.

Questions roared from reporters.

"Ms. Stark! Is it true you were the one in the suit?"

"Was the president involved in this operation?"

"Who built the technology? Is it military?"

Toni raised her hand. The room fell silent.

Her blue eyes scanned the room. Her lips curled slightly.

"Let's be honest here. You're not really buying this whole 'bodyguard in an advanced prototype suit' thing, right?"

The press chuckled nervously.

"I mean, come on. Do I look like I sit on the sidelines?"

She held up the morning paper—headline screaming:

"Who is the Iron Woman?"

She set it down with deliberate weight.

A beat of silence.

Then:

"The truth is... I am Iron Woman."

Gasps. Shouts. Reporters surged forward.

But Toni stood unbothered. Unapologetic. A wry smirk crossing her face. Her heart, however, was pounding—not from fear, but from freedom.

Offstage, Natasha, Pepper, and Maria Hill exchanged glances.

In the shadows of the room, Vanessa Carlysle whispered into her earpiece:

"We'll need to prep global containment protocols. The truth just broke the world."

Scene 2 – Prison Transport on Route 5A

Location: Arizona Desert, Midnight

A black armored convoy—two Humvees and a reinforced military transport truck—rolled under the desert moonlight.

Inside the prisoner hold sat Obadiah Stane, wrists and ankles bound in vibranium cuffs, face swollen and broken. He seethed with rage.

"You think the people will let this happen?" he growled at one of the guards. "I built Stark Industries. That little brat—"

Suddenly—BOOM!

The desert road exploded. The front Humvee flipped into the air like a toy.

Bullets rained down. Thermal charges ignited the back Humvee. Elite operatives in matte-black combat armor dropped from stealth choppers.

Precision. Lethal efficiency. One guard tried to radio for help—his throat was slit before he could finish the call.

Obadiah was dragged from the wreckage, confused, coughing through smoke.

"Wh-who are you people?! You want money?! I'll pay you! I'll pay you triple!"

No response. Just cold silence.

The last thing he saw before being sedated was the horizon lit with crimson.

Scene 3 – Classified Blacksite Prison

Location: Undisclosed Arctic Facility

Chains clinked.

Obadiah awoke in an underground concrete bunker lit by UV spotlights. Arms spread wide, wrists locked. A single chair faced him.

"This is illegal," he hissed. "You know that? I'll call my lawyers."

Silence.

"You're working for Stark? For the government? Tell them I'll cooperate—"

Still silence.

Then—

KRAKOOM.

The sky split open with a roaring sonic boom. The lights flickered.

The guards dropped to one knee like disciples as a glowing figure descended from the storm clouds above.

Lance Carter.

In his full glory—the white-and-blue solar suit gleaming with golden energy lines, the red cape billowing behind him. His boots touched down like judgment itself.

Obadiah's bravado melted.

"Lance... President Carter... wait... I—please, don't—"

Lance didn't speak at first. His gaze pierced Obadiah like the sun through a magnifying glass.

Finally, he stepped forward, voice like stone.

"You hurt the one person I love more than this entire world."

Obadiah's breathing hitched. "I didn't know she meant that much—"

"You tried to kill her. You lied to her. You made her believe she was safe... and then sold her out the moment I wasn't watching."

"She is my heart. So now... I take yours."

Obadiah's scream echoed into the cold.

The sound of bones crunching. Of flesh torn.

Lance walked out, Obadiah's lifeless body collapsing behind him, blood steaming in the cold.

Scene 4 – High Orbit, Earth's Thermosphere

Lance POV

He floated above Earth. The planet spun below—oceans a deep royal blue, cities glowing like neural paths in the dark.

He couldn't feel the vacuum anymore. Only the pressure of guilt.

I knew the plot. I knew Obadiah would betray her.

I thought I could outpace fate. That I could muscle through the danger.

But I was wrong.

Toni nearly died. And the fact that she survived didn't erase the agony in her eyes.

He flexed his fist—solar energy crackled across his knuckles.

No more waiting for disasters. No more passive defense.

He would hunt the threats down.

He would burn their plans before they reached his loved ones.

The sunlight wrapped around him like divine fire, illuminating the white and gold suit.

"I'll protect this world. But if I must become a god of war to keep the peace... then so be it."

His eyes closed. And for a moment, the entire planet below felt just a little bit warmer.
