Locke pondered briefly before downing an entire bottle of Eye Demon Potion in one gulp.
In an instant, his mental sensitivity was heightened to an extreme level, almost crossing a certain threshold.
Locke took half a step back as everything around him seemed to sprout eyes of varying colors, shapes, and sizes. Some of these eyes even appeared to attempt communication, as if trying to convey some message.
When Locke turned his gaze to the Negative Energy Particle Periodic Table in the Tombstone Grimoire, the four-dimensional models of the negative energy particles seemed to morph into distinct eyes.
Shaking his head, Locke focused on deciphering the information from the negative energy particle field on the fossilized skeletal specimen. "I guessed right—the Eye Demon Potion does enhance my ability to recognize Moduo Language."
"This makes learning much easier."
"Though I must constantly resist the side effects that threaten to drive me insane."
After twenty minutes of careful examination, Locke exclaimed with delight, "The Eye Demon Potion has amplified my mental sensitivity to an extraordinarily extreme degree. In this state, my Moduo Language learning speed is incredibly fast. If I can take this potion daily, my progress in archaeology will be immense."
"The negative energy particle information on the fossilized bones swirls before me like dancing eyeballs, as if I've become one of them. It's beautiful—pure artistry. I long to immerse myself completely in this art..."
"Focus! Don't let the potion's side effects derail me."
Locke quickly used the Deep Purple Jade Necklace around his neck to purify his chaotic Mana and recenter his attention.
For the following week, Locke spent most of his time in the laboratory studying archaeology.
The remainder of his time was divided three ways: overseeing the expansion of the Emerald Iris Lichen Magic Field in the plantation, continuing treatment and collecting data on the short-to-medium-term effects of Bear Spirit Emerald Bile Potion at the Healing Hand Clinic, and meditating to further enhance his Mana reserves.
One week later, Locke sat before the fossilized skeleton of the Three-Eyed Tiger Eye Cat, observing its negative energy particle field.
Blue light flashed in his eyes as a vision appeared before him:
A massive Three-Eyed Tiger Eye Cat with soft white fur—resembling an enormous tiger—prowled through an ancient forest, treading upon primordial Magic Plants as it moved freely among the trees.
Wherever it passed, all creatures fled in terror.
In the blink of an eye, the eye-like pattern on the cat's forehead shimmered with Spell radiance, forming a Spell Eye that fixed its gaze upon a unicorn in the forest. Instantly, the unicorn's body exploded into fragments, and a pillar of light erupted from the spot where it had stood.
The light pillar seemed to possess a magnetic field, sucking in all the small magical creatures around it. Countless birds and beasts shrieked as they were forcibly drawn into the column of light, vanishing without a trace.
The Three-Eyed Tiger Eye Cat narrowed its pupils slightly and sauntered forward, preparing to claim its spoils. But at that very moment, what appeared to be flocks of magical avian creatures flew past from behind it.
They blotted out the sky, even obscuring the sun's rays.
The panic among these magical birds was unprecedented. Even the ruler of this ancient forest—the ancient magical creature Three-Eyed Tiger Eye Cat—seemed startled. It turned its head, its eyes filled with deep fear, as if terrified of something.
Then, the images in Locke's mind abruptly cut off, forcing him to halt his interpretation of the Moduo Language script.
Rubbing his eyes, Locke felt somewhat overwhelmed by the scenes he had just witnessed. Yet, in the end, he hadn't truly grasped anything concrete.
"This is my first time interpreting historical imagery."
"And all I saw was some kind of large-scale disaster. In the face of such a catastrophe, even a first-tier magical creature like the Three-Eyed Tiger Eye Cat, which is nearly at the level of a Formal Wizard, had no means of resistance. What kind of disaster was that?"
"Was it a localized catastrophe, or did some era in this world experience a disaster that swept across the entire globe?"
Locke fell into deep thought. "No wonder McCarthy suspects that ancient creatures went extinct collectively and suddenly. If he frequently saw visions like this, he'd definitely have doubts too."
"Could it have been some enormous eye descending upon the world during a certain period...? Stop." Locke slapped his own face, forcibly cutting off his train of thought to prevent himself from dwelling further on eyes.
"The side effects of the Eye Demon Potion are still too potent for my current physical constitution."
Locke lit a stick of Mind-Calming Aroma in the corner of the laboratory and resumed deciphering the information within this ancient creature fossil specimen.
As he interpreted, his proficiency in the Moduo Language rapidly improved.
Originally, it would have taken him over five years to reach this level of understanding. But thanks to the Eye Demon Potion, he had skipped straight to this stage.
The Eye Demon Potion provided an immense boost to archaeological studies—its primary effects and side effects were precisely what the field required.
The reason the Black Wizard Society didn't widely use the Eye Demon Potion was twofold. First, they likely lacked sufficient Potionology Masters to produce it in any meaningful quantity.
Back when Hussein needed to conduct an experiment, he even had to trick Locke into handing over the Twin Flower Soul Condensation Potion.
And the Eye Demon Potion was far more difficult to brew and much rarer than the Twin Flower Soul Condensation Potion.
It was probable that the Black Wizard Society didn't even possess this potion.
Moreover, most Black Wizards weren't even aware of the Eye Demon Potion's existence.
As a Potionology Assistant, Locke had only learned of its existence after asking Ol, a dwarf scholar of General Studies.
The second reason was that the side effects of the Eye Demon Potion were simply too terrifying.
"Probably both reasons are at play," Locke gazed at the fossil specimen of the ancient creature, carefully deciphering the Moduo Language inscriptions on it.
"First, I need to study the section concerning the Three-Eyed Tiger Eye Cat's Bloodline within the information contained inside this fossil..."
"Then compare it with the pure Bloodline essence I extracted from the Catwoman's blood to see exactly how much difference exists between them."
"But this is an enormous undertaking involving sequencing the Bloodline Factor genealogy within a Magical Creature. I can only focus on key aspects. Otherwise, forget one month—even if given a hundred or a thousand years, this work would remain an endless mess."
Sequencing all Bloodline Factors of a Magical Creature has always been a hot research topic in White Wizard circles.
Complete sequencing of Bloodline Factors contained within a Magical Creature's Bloodline essence is an established project in major Wizard organizations.
Corresponding achievements emerge every year.
Yet the sequencing work remains incomplete—no one has managed to finish it.
Not even the Bloodline Factor sequencing of an ordinary Magical Creature has been fully accomplished to create its complete Bloodline Factor spectrum.
Frankly, anyone who could achieve this would essentially be unraveling the Creator's mysteries—one of the ultimate goals in Magical Creature research.
There are numerous reasons for this.
In short, this is a field even First Circle Wizards cannot master, with Bloodline Factors being extraordinarily numerous—over 39,000 known types alone. Some are unique to specific Magical Creatures while others are common to all organisms.
But that's fine.
He didn't need the Bloodline essence information from the fossil specimen to perfectly match that extracted from his blood sample.
Mostly similar would suffice.
Locke reasoned: "After all, during Bloodline transplantation and modification, some Bloodline Factors will pair automatically, and even mismatches will self-correct."
"This is also the primary source of side effects in Wizard Bloodline modifications."
"Some modifications essentially operate on mysticism—relying entirely on a small subset of factors within the injected Bloodline essence to self-match inside the organism."
"Thus, the same Bloodline modification Potion produces varying effects and side effect severity among different wizard apprentices. Though naturally, higher precision Potions yield fewer side effects."
Locke examined the Ancient Creature Bloodline Modification Chapter recorded in the Tombstone Grimoire. "Archaeologists have their own Bloodline modification methods, different from those of the Conjuration School Wizards."
"Let me see what the next step should be."
