Moonlight spills on cobbled stones,
soft my steps, yet bold my tones;
woven strings of aching gold,
spill the hymns my hands unfold.
Capiz windows breathe with gleam,
catching glints of secret dreams;
hidden eyes from curtained veil,
flutter like a wistful sail.
Gentle strums awake the skies,
pleading stars to not despise;
each note kneels before her name,
each chord cloaks my heart in flame.
Wind that drifts through sleeping trees,
carry forth my whispered pleas;
should she hear, let silence break,
let her soul my song awake.
Underneath the jealous stars,
I lay bare my hidden scars;
seeking glances soft as lace,
yearning for her moonlit face.
Breathless with the trembling strings,
I bestow unspoken things;
echoed through the jasmine air,
folded in a fervent prayer.
Petals weep from unseen blooms,
longing weaves through ancient rooms;
while her laughter, coy and bright,
mends the brokenness of night.
If she peeks with bashful eyes,
all the heavens may arise;
for one gaze, I brave the gloom,
for her voice to bless the room.
Faltered tunes and trembling hands,
humble hopes in shifting sands;
yet my spirit dares to climb,
bridging song with sacred time.
Through the hush of sleeping town,
through the hush where dreams are sown;
I will carve her sacred name,
through each breath of love and flame.
Chimes may mock my clumsy tune,
mock the young heart's rugged swoon;
still I pluck the faithful string,
for her smile is worth the sting.
Every verse my fingers weave,
asks permission to believe;
bids her heart to softly lean,
to the gardens yet unseen.
Even if the night must end,
even if the winds offend;
let this soul, in rags and wine,
kiss the ghost of her divine.
Braver hands must draw the line,
dare to sip the vintage time;
'ere the morning breaks the plea,
let her voice descend to me.
Thus I play beneath her skies,
thus I dream with open eyes;
may her soul and mine once meet,
dancing where the old songs beat.
