-Route 1
A group of teens could be seen sneaking through the bushes just off Route 1. There was a sign down the road indicating this was their location.
One teen stood and watched from afar to see what the results would be. This was Roy, and certainly someone who wasn't native to this world.
When he first arrived here, there was darkness, which caused him initial panic until a light tunnel appeared. He drew closer to this light. Once he came to it, Roy found that he had arrived in the Pokémon world.
Indeed, this wasn't Roy's first day here; he had arrived here as an infant a while ago. Many years had passed, and he was currently sixteen years old.
"These guys, do they think they can sneak up on a Pidgey?" Roy chuckled, but this wasn't an impossible task.
Roy's siblings were trying to catch a Pidgey together, but had failed several times prior. He had three other siblings, which was hard to manage for a time.
His parent had both died, which was unfortunate as he remembered the news. In his previous world, he had a whole family with both his parents. He had never experienced being an orphan, and he had unfortunately died before his parents.
This was because an idiot ran a red light and hit him. One could argue that Roy also shares some blame, as he wasn't paying attention. At that time, he was playing on his Nintendo Switch.
This accident resulted in his transfer to this world. It was a struggle managing his siblings, but he had managed to do it with some help. After all, his parent of this world died when he was 9 years old.
Suddenly, one of his siblings, his brother, quickly threw a Pokéball. Pidgey appeared to be on high alert from the beginning. And with its Keen eyesight, it quickly reacted and evaded the Pokéball's ensnarement.
Chirp~!
Pidgey took to the sky, turned once, and glared at the group disdainfully before disappearing over the forest.
"Damn it! That damn bird was definitely mocking us!" Troy, who was Roy's twin brother, was furious. Though they were twins, they weren't identical twins.
"It must have seen us just before we popped out. Those birds are too darn fast with their reactions." This was Lucian, Roy's third brother.
"It looked like it was on high alert before we even appeared. There was no way we were catching it to begin with." Luna, the youngest of the siblings, and she shook her head; this Pidgey was too cunning.
"This is why we should have kept some Rattata that we caught in the past." Troy suddenly thought of the Rattata they sold off. If they had used them, they could have just used them to catch other Pokémon.
Roy watched from afar, but he had no clue what they were saying. Despite this, he knew one thing for sure: they had failed...again.
Both Luna and Lucian were twins and would turn fifteen next week.
"This life will finally bear some results. I had to maintain a family over the years." Roy had even educated his siblings on how to read, write, do math, etc.
He had also taught them about Pokémon, such as type weaknesses, neutral attacks, and how certain Pokémon evolve. There was also a library in Pallet that had books displaying Pokémon from the Johto and Kanto regions for them to study.
This made it even easier to teach them. They had just come over to Roy's location with strange expressions.
"Failed, huh?" Roy said with a grin.
"Naturally..." Luna shrugged and said.
"What do you mean, naturally? Are you calling me a failure or something, you goof?" Lucian's eyes narrowed.
"Well, I wasn't calling you a failure... but if you had been faster and placed more power into the throw, then..."
"Like you could have done better." Lucian scoffed.
"I could have if I were alone. I would have waited until it let its guard down before sneak-attacking it." Luna spoke with an unreal confidence that they had never seen before.
"Yeah, keep dreaming..." Lucian shook his head.
"Okay, let's go home. If you want to catch any Rattata and then come back, you can."
Roy smiled and decided to go home instead; it was too dangerous here. The danger didn't come from the Pokémon, but from people.
Beyond Route 1 or around it, there was a gang that often patrolled the area. They were known as the [Purple Fang Gang]. As one would guess, they were known for using Poison-type Pokémon exclusively.
Police officers patrol Route 1 often, and in great numbers. With this in mind, the Poison Fang Gang didn't dare hang around this location. At least, this was on the surface; Roy believed some of these police officers were dirty for obvious reasons.
Roy and his family didn't stay much longer and left for Pallet Town. Indeed, Roy had appeared in the Kanto region of all places. To him, this was probably one of the best regions to begin in.
Soon, they arrived in Pallet Town and found that it was bustling with farmers, traders, and people. This was the usual, and there was nothing new about it.
Roy and his siblings sustained their daily lives by selling things they found in the wild. This would include berries, Pokémon, and, if they were fortunate, a held item.
"We couldn't catch a single Pokémon today; this is way too tragic." Troy sighed. This was their livelihood, but they had no gains today.
Eventually, they appeared in front of a somewhat dilapidated house. This was due to the lack of maintenance over the years.
They didn't have the money to maintain this house. Despite this, the house was fully paid off, so they only paid taxes, but didn't have insurance on the house. This wasn't good because if this house were set on fire, they wouldn't be able to get it repaired.
They had been having some trouble with Rattata around lately. Rattata was extraordinarily common and could be found just about everywhere. They were annoying and were seen ransacking through people's trash often.
This caused problems since they would need to go out and pick up the trash. If they didn't, they could be fined for littering, even though it wasn't their doing.
Roy had to buy a special Pokémon Center-approved Rattata repellent. This repellent helped a lot, but wasn't all that cheap.
"I'll make something for us to eat." Lucian went to the fridge and pulled out some potatoes and ground beef.
"I'll help you..." Luna came over and began helping Lucian peel the potatoes. They were planning to make cheeseburgers and fries for lunch.
His siblings wanted to become trainers, but none of them, including Roy, had a Pokémon. This worried Troy, who wanted to start his journey immediately.
Roy couldn't figure out what he was going to do. Well, there was the option of starting with a Pidgey, Rattata, or Bellsprout, which could be found on Route 1.
Bellsprout wasn't a bad choice; it would do well against Brock and, to a degree, well against Misty. It would do well against Surge as well, so it wasn't a bad choice.
Roy sighed and went to his room to take a little nap.
"Oh, man, this feels good!" Roy dove onto his bed and began to relax. Everyone had a separate room, so the house was big enough.
Roy stared at the ceiling and sighed again. This world was amazing; however, he couldn't really enjoy it too much since he had too many responsibilities.
Roy had assistance from the Mayor's office in Pallet. At first, they wanted to put him and his siblings into an orphanage. Roy adamantly refused, and the Mayor, who knew Roy's father well, decided not to go through with it.
Instead, the Mayor hired someone to visit and monitor them daily. This lasted until Roy and Troy were 14, thus allowing them to stay in their house independently. The Mayor even went as far as to pay the taxes on the house until they were of working age, fourteen.
All of these years, it wasn't easy for him. Such an amazing world turned into a difficult daily routine for Roy. It was a good thing he had saved up money when the taxes were being paid.
Unfortunately, that money ran out a year ago, and they've been struggling since.
At the age of twelve, Roy had to find ways to make money to afford food and other basic needs. In his former world, this situation was almost unheard of, particularly in the country where he lived.
Instead, Roy and Troy were given jobs that paid fairly well and weren't dangerous. They even caught Rattatas going through their trash. They sold the Rattata they caught on Route 1, if they could catch them.
They were visited by a caretaker six hours a day to make sure their daily needs were taken care of.
"I didn't get a cheat or anything during my transfer. This has to be the greatest shame for any traveler out there." Roy had called out to the system many times over the years, but he didn't receive anything.

"What?!" Roy sat up in shock. He looked at the strange purple buffering loading screen in front of him with awe.
He rubbed his eyes to be sure he wasn't seeing things. Indeed, there was actually a loading screen in front of his face.
"It's a sign-in system. Does that mean I have to sign in to locations to get rewards?" Roy had read novels about such systems before, and they were some of the best.
"Why is this system appearing so late, though? All these years, and it shows up at this time." Roy was a bit upset about this, but he would rather have one that comes late than never.
Roy watched the loading screen closely, waiting for it to finish. His eyes were brighter than ever; this was where his journey truly began!
