Chapter 23 - Raising a child can't be that hard, Right?

Sunny looked at his child sleeping peacefully without a care in the world...

'Really, just how hard can this be? I mean I've seen my beautiful wife Cassie handle it, and I was with her pretty much all the time!'

...

Maybe he should have just stayed quiet—

Because right as the thought finished, the baby screamed—

And it screamed loudly.

Like, really loud.

The kind that made Sunny's ear... Feel like it was going to bleed.

His dormant self definitely would bleed.

'Okay, according to the "Expert and Beautiful Lady Cassia's guide", definitely not published by GiveMeYourMoney, page number 69, chapter "How to be cool like Lady Cassia" stated "to understand the child one must become the child."'

Now those were some profound words... Because no one but the child could understand himself.

'Just goes to show how goated Cassie is... '

Okay, maybe reading cursed one shots by that money guy was to blame for alladis glaze...

But the glaze was earned! And he held the rights for it as her lucky and undeserving husband!

[Glad you're self aware, now go make the child stop crying!]

...

'Right—'

Now according to the gre—

[Shut up!]

Sunny raised the child, holding it in his arms, and swung it gently? He kept the process ongoing to no avail and achieving only one result...

Or rather, a conclusion: he sucked at this.

'Hmmm...'

The next trick in the Expert and Beautiful Lady Cassia's Guide said:

"One must know thyself to know how to ball."

'Umm...'

That didn't make sense.

Then, he flipped the page:

"Should the child refuse to sleep, simply become more interesting than consciousness."

'Uhh...'

Sunny conjured a toy to play with, letting it make some 'tring tring' sounds, which just made the child cry harder.

"Erm..."

To the next page he went!

"A smiling child is proof of successful parenting. A sleeping child is proof of successful strategy."

"No shit Sherlock... Or whatever his name was." Sunny snapped, definitely, absolutely not getting pissed off here.

[Lowkey, for once I'm proud of money and his glaze.]

...

Sunny's face twisted. Contorted. Flinched.

He felt something boiling in his head.

[Ah, someone's angry, sucks to not be able to scream, huh? Come to think about it, maybe I'm an asshole for using a child. Eh, I don't care.]

Sunny definitely didn't fume. Definitely not.

[By the grace of Back, I shall give you a tip as a charity. Do whatever feels right to you while doing it for the child. Good luck, dumbass.]

Sunny, instead of being angry at those words, found himself thankful...

Somewhat.

Maybe that was what it meant being a father?

'Lets not get into the philosophy.'

Sunny found himself in deep thoughts and came up with a solution. An expert one, at that!

A flute.

A flute was the answer.

He was going to play it and calm the child down with his skills!

And true to his words, the child calmed down, only that...

"WAAA WAAAAAAA WAAA"

When he stopped the child cried even louder.

[Man, i swear if an adult who actually has kids decided to read this right after taking care of a new born then they would be hating on me right now. Or you. Something like that.]

...

[Not that I care! I am boooooreddddd, but pleaseeee make that child stop crying. I dislike the thought of annoying newborns or using them for stuff like this, I hate writing this! Gods... How did my parents even raise me!? I was much more of a menace by the way.]

[Uhhh, a story. Try a story!]

"Okay..."

Sunny gave up, he needed to make the child stop crying soon! Before Cassie came, anyways, but it had to be quicker!

Somewhere else, Sunny flinched in a fight with Nightmare Creature, causing him an arm...

---

Cassie looked at the young cohort... or rather faced them, "can I take a glimpse at your memories?"

"Yeah, please do!" Rain replied.

"Oh, I might have to remove everyone present's memory of it if the reason is what I think it is."

Everyone froze.

A boy with black hair and fair skin with an annoyingly boring appearance stepped forward, "sure, ma'am."

The man was... Back—who Cassie could swear was familiar to her outside of Rain's cohort but wasn't sure of it. He was from Tamar's batch of Sleepers.

"Yes ma'am, you can look through our memories and remove that part if it feels dangerous..." Somehow everyone agreed to it.

Cassie removed her blindfold and looked into their minds one by one...

And what she terrified her...

[All hail the demon of 67, SIX SEVEN, Asterion. The saviour. The god. The one true sovereign. The _third_ Sovereign. The Sovereign of the moon.

The god of SIX-SEVEN. EVERYONE 67 RN.

There were even graffiti of 67 or how to worship it...

67 are humans.

Humans are 67.

There is a 67 in everyone.

Preach.

Preach the lord of 67.

Lord Asterion.]

Cassie left those memories, and immediately deleted them from theind of the cohort below before removing it from her mind. Her entire body and clothes were drenched with sweat. Her eyes were wide as she was hyperventilating.

"Maybe—maybe that man was right."

She was, of course, talking about the Forgotten God.

"The corruption was too strong."

A pause.

"I'll go show you our little Sublunary to cleanse it off."

Sublunary...

The third...
