"Ma Shi provides a stipend to its artists, typically issuing a check for the next year's stipend at Christmas, but monthly payments are also an option if you prefer."

"For this trip, I specifically applied for a creation stipend, which can amount to ten thousand dollars a year."

The aunt was dumbfounded.

"He's still a student, right? You give him ten thousand dollars... per year! You're not con artists, are you?"
